We are seeking volunteers to assist in preparing our school
for the 2013-2014 academic year. If you can spare a few hours
the maintenance staff would appreciate your help. There are
many tasks to be completed before opening day.

Stewardship Note: “One day Jesus was praying in a certain
place.” Before every major action in His life the Scriptures tell
us Jesus prayed. During this Year of Faith, we should strive to
follow Jesus’ example by always praying first. In that way, we
can ensure we are doing God’s work and not our own.

CHALLENGING GOD
Ancient Judaism held in highest regard those
figures in its tradition who were willing to challenge God. This was particularly characteristic of
the two patriarchs most highly esteemed, Abraham and Moses. This boldness in addressing God
is present in today’s story from Genesis, when
Abraham attempts to save the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.
This resonates with the Gospel passage—the Lord’s prayer —
since it was truly bold of Jesus to address the Lord God as
“Abba”. Our familiarity with this prayer most likely makes us
unaware of this.
The boldness of Abraham, Moses and Jesus in addressing
God is an expression of a deep, intimate relationship. We tend
to argue most heatedly with and speak most tenderly to those
whom we love the most. This very human trait is what generates the wide variety of emotions expressed toward God
throughout the psalms. Hopefully our own relationship with
God is intimate enough that we don’t only come asking for
favors or with heads bowed meekly, but also ready to question
and argue, to praise joyfully and to embrace our relationship
with God lovingly.
SAINT ANNE SOCIETY
We welcome members of the Saint Anne Society on Sunday,
July 28th at 8:15am to celebrate their Annual Communion
Mass. All members are asked to attend and wear their medals
to witness the installation of officers and executive board.
A continental breakfast will be served after Mass in the
school cafeteria.

FIRST FRIDAY OF THE MONTH
First Friday of the month will be observed on August 2nd.
Mass at 7:00am will be offered for the living members of the
Sacred Heart Sodality and parishioners and member of the Sodality are invited to attend and recite the usual prayers with the
Litany to Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Scheduled adorers are asked to participate at their appointed
time during the day and adoration will conclude at 3:00pm with
the praying of the Chaplet to the Divine Mercy and benediction.
Mass in the Polish language will be celebrated at 7:00pm.

PARISH COUNCIL
Election of new Parish Council members will take place during this weekend, July 27th/28th and due to vacations will
also extend to August 3rd/4th. The candidates are: Constance
Favreau, John Hester, Ursula Kokosinski, Theresa Levasseur,
Theresa Mailloux, Jill Manak, Elizabeth Sabaj, Dennis
Wasielewski and Kenneth Yash. The three candidates receiving the largest number of votes will become members of the
Parish Council for a term of three years beginning, September
2013.
Ballots are placed in the pews. Please make your selections
and return completed ballot in the collection basket.
The Parish Council serves as the Advisory Board to the Pastor. Throughout the years, the Parish Council was involved in
crucial decisions which affected a wide range of issues—
physical, cultural, pastoral, etc. It is very important that the
members display a sense of loyalty, personal integrity, sense of
belonging and pride in their community of faith. Positive and
enthusiastic individuals are a great asset toward the development of Saint Joseph Basilica.
PASTORAL REFLECTIONS
What happens when we die? - At the moment of death the
soul is separated from the body and will undergo particular
judgment of God. The Catholic Catechism teaches that each
man receives his eternal retribution in his immortal soul at the
very moment of his death, in a particular judgment that refers
his life to Christ. At the moment of death, a human being
whether Catholic or not, believer or not, seals his eternal destiny, life of glory or eternal damnation.
At the end of time, our Lord will come again to judge the
living and the dead. Those who have done right shall rise to
life and evil doers shall also rise to be condemned. Those who
have already died and have been judged will remain in heaven
or hell. After the final judgment of the whole of humanity,
only heaven and hell will exist.
Archbishop Fulton Sheen said, “It is not important what role
we play in life, but how well we play”.
NOVENA TO SAINT JOSEPH
On Wednesday, July 31st at 7:00pm, we ask parishioners and
friends to join our Lectors Ministry in devotion to Saint Joseph,
patron saint of our parish. Please take advantage of this opportunity to ask for graces through the intercession of Saint Joseph.
Please print your intentions legibly on the request forms
available in the Our Lady of Czestochowa Chapel and place
them in the box provided. Your intentions will be mentioned
aloud or silently as per your wishes.
One of many titles of St. Joseph is protector of our homes.
Many people dedicate themselves to his protection in their family life. You could pray the following on a daily basis:
St. Joseph protect our home. Pour forth heaven’s blessings
on our family. Remain in our midst. Help us to live in love and
harmony, in peace and joy. May the wholesome fear of God
strengthen us that virtue may adorn what we do and our way
may lead to heaven. To you this day I give the key to our dwelling place. Lock out all things that could do us harm. Lock my
home and my loved ones with me in the hearts of Jesus and
Mary. This I beg of you that our days may be like your days in
the holy home at Nazareth. Amen.
PILGRIMAGE TO POLAND
The125th Anniversary Pilgrimage to Poland with Monsignor
Czarnecki is planned for June 23, 2014 through July 4, 2014 11 nights. We will depart from Boston and visit, Gdansk, Malbork, Olsztyn, Warsaw, Czestochowa, Zakopane and Krakow.
Free time is scheduled for personal visits.
Poland has become a center of attraction and is the most
frequent destination of many tourists from across the world.
Polish Americans, are especially drawn to this country because
of Blessed John Paul II, the rich cultural heritage, deep faith
and catholic identity of its residents. More details will be forthcoming. If you are interested in participating in this pilgrimage,

UPDATE OF GYMNASIUM
The engineers completed the drawings. The general contractor, John Lauring, has sent bids to various sub-contractors. He
will receive their responses by August 5th. Meanwhile, he is
obtaining various permits from the Town of Webster—building
inspector, fire and highway department., etc. Next week he will
begin to move in his equipment to begin construction.
ANNOUNCEMENT
We would like to inform our parish community of the retirement of John Szymczak from our cemetery and school staff. In
August 1975, John began working at the cemetery. His duties
were extended to the maintenance of the school and he has handled multiple tasks through out this time. John was always
courteous and friendly in taking care of cemetery issues for
families at stressful times and also helpful to the parents of our
school students.
We will miss his presence and dedicated work ethic. May
God continue to Bless John in his well-earned retirement.
John has agreed to return in an advisory capacity until a successor is hired.

OFFICE OF RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
If you have not registered your son or daughter for Religious
Education classes for the 2013-2014 session, please do so as
soon as possible. There are several upper classmen who have
not yet returned their forms. The fee is $30 for one child and
$50 for two or more children. Forms are available at the
entrances to the Basilica.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN
TO KEEP THE LORD’S DAY HOLY?
Sunday - the Lord’s Day - is the day of the week Catholics
set aside just for God. The highlight of our observance is
gathering at Mass to listen to his Word and take part in the
Eucharist. Overall, our activities on Sunday should center
around thanking God for our blessings and promise of
salvation.
One of the best ways we can show God how much we love
him is to show love to each other. Sunday is a great day to
devote to the care of relatives and families, which may be tough
during the week. Performing works of mercy is highly
recommended on Sunday.
It is also a day for the reflection and meditation necessary
for our spiritual growth. It can be the one day in the week
during which we slow down and listen for the voice of our
Father and actually have a chance of hearing it.

Sprawiedliwość Boża tak bardzo różni się od
ludzkiej, że za każdym razem, gdy odkrywamy tę
prawdę, zdumiewa nas ona na nowo. Bardzo
często postrzegamy sprawiedliwość Boga jako
oczywiste wynagradzanie dobrych i karanie złych,
bez możliwości odwołania od wyroku.
Tymczasem Bóg usprawiedliwia wielu dzięki dobrym
uczynkom jednego Sprawiedliwego. Dziś zaprasza nas, abyśmy
czynili dobro nie tylko ze względu na własne zbawienie, ale
także ze względu na naszych potrzebujących braci.
PIERWSZY PIĄTEK MIESIĄCA
W najbliższy piątek, 2 sierpnia przypada pierwszy piątek
miesiąca. Parafian i członków Sacred Heart Society zapraszamy
na Mszę św. o godz. 7:00, która będziemy sprawowali w intencji
żyjących członków SHS. Po tej Mszy jak zwykle wystawienie i
adoracja Najświętszego Sakramentu, która potrwa do godz.

NOWENNA DO ŚW. JÓZEFA
W najbliższą środę, jak co tydzień już od dwóch miesięcy,
spotykamy się na połączonej ze Mszą św. Nowennie do św. Józefa.
Zapraszamy wszystkich parafian i przyjaciół. Bardzo prosimy
o wpisywanie intencji drukowanymi literami. Jednocześnie
przypominamy, że kartek z intencjami nie przechowujemy na
następny tydzień (następną nowennę). Jeśli ktoś chce, aby modlić

ST. ANNE SOCIETY
Na Mszy św. o godz. 8:15 zostaną przejęci nowi członkowie
St. Anne Society. Jest to coroczna Msza Wspólnotowa
Stowarzyszenia. Wszyscy członkowie zaproszeni są do udziału
w tej Mszy św., aby swoją obecnością i modlitwą wesprzeć nowo
przyjętych członków Stowarzyszenia i zarządu. Po Mszy św.
członkowie Stowarzyszenia kontynuują celebracje na wspólnym
śniadaniu w szkolnej kafeterii.
WIADOMOŚCI SZKOLNE
Kontynuując wysiłki w celu zapewnienia jak najwyższego
poziomu kształcenia na wszystkich poziomach edukacji, z radością
uformujemy, że dodajemy do programu nauczania Pre-K
Macmillan/McGraw Hill's "Little Treasures Reading Program",
który jest opartym na naukowych badaniach programem nauki
czytania, dostosowanym do rozwoju dzieci. Jest on tak
zaprojektowany, by przygotowywał do wymagań stawianych
dzieciom w przedszkolu. Podzielony jest na 10 jednostek
zorganizowanych wokół ważnych w Pre-K tematów takich jak
rozwój języka, znajomość fonetyki, poznawanie alfabetu,
znajomość pisania drukowanych liter, rozwój społeczny
i emocjonalny oraz zaangażowanie w życie rodzinne. Zapewnia
również zintegrowane kształcenie z zakresu lektur, matematyki
i muzyki. Wysokiej jakości teksty w połączeniu w wyraźnymi
i jasnymi instrukcjami daje gwarancję, że dzieci otrzymają to,
czego potrzebują aby uczyć się i rozwijać umiejętność czytania
i pisania, które będą im służyć na całe życie.
Ten nowy element rozszerza nasze możliwości istniejącego już
programu nauki czytania, który został zakupiony dwa lata temu
za cenę 40 tyś. dolarów.
Obecnie wszystkie miejsca w przedszkolu są już zajęte.
Zgłaszających się chętnych umieszczamy na liście oczekujących,
natomiast Pre-K dysponuje jeszcze kilkoma wolnymi miejscami.
Tych, którzy planują zapisać swoje dziecko do Pre-K prosimy, aby
uczynili to tak szybko jak to możliwe. Jak zwykle pierwszeństwo
zapisu przyznajemy parafianom. Zapraszamy.
WYBORY DO RADY PARAFIALNEJ
Wybory nowej Rady Parafialnej odbędą się w czasie dwóch
weekendów: 27/28 lipca oraz 3/4 sierpnia. Będziemy wybierali
parafian, którzy pozostaną w Radzie przez następne trzy lata
rozpoczynając od września tego roku. Karty do głosowania
będą dostępna w kościele w każdej ławce.
Korzystając z okazji chcemy serdecznie podziewać tym
członkom Rady Parafialnej, który kadencja się kończy: George
Baldowski, Sheryl Bergeon, Jane Gaudreau, Genevieve
Lariviere, Jane O'Leary, Ewa Piwowarczyk, Joseph Werbecki,
i David Zdrok. Doceniamy wasz wkład i poświęcenie dla
rodziny Bazyliki św. Józefa.
POTRZEBNI WOLONTARIUSZE DO POMOCY
Poszukujemy wolontariuszy, którzy pomogą nam
przygotować naszą szkołę na rok szkolny 2013-2014. Wiele
prac musi być wykonanych zanim wakacje się skończą.
Dysponując wolnym czasem możecie wesprzeć pracowników
naszej szkoły. Ci, których dzieci uczęszczają do naszej szkoły
mogą odpracować w ten sposób swoje "service hours".

PIELGRZYMKA DO POLSKI
Pielgrzymka do Polski z ks. Prałatem Antonim Czarneckim
jest planowana na 23 czerwca i potrwa do 4 lipca 2014 roku.
W programie pielgrzymki planowane jest zwiedzanie Gdańska,
Malborka, Olsztyna, Warszawy, Częstochowy, Zakopanego,
i Krakowa. Jest również przewidziany wolny czas na osobiste
odwiedziny. Więcej szczegółów będziemy prezentowali
w najbliższym czasie. Zainteresowanych prosimy o kontakt
z biurem parafialnym.
RYCERZE KOLUMBA
Zebranie zarządu Rycerzy Kolumba odbędzie się w środę
31 lipca o godz. 18:00. Zabranie wszystkich członków jest
zaplanowane na ten sam dzień na godz. 19:00 tego samego
dnia.
ST. JOSEPH POLISH WOMEN'S CLUB
St. Joseph Polish Women's Club 24 sierpnia organizuje
coroczną zbiórkę "Shop for Cause", która służy gromadzeniu
środków dla wsparcia naszej szkoły. Zakupując kupon za $5

OGŁOSZENIE
Pragniemy poinformować wspólnotę parafialną, że długoletni
pracownik szkoły i cmentarza, pan John Szymczak odszedł
w ostatnim czasie na emeryturę. Dziękujemy mu za pracę, którą
wykonywał dla dobra naszej wspólnoty, za jego zawsze
przyjazną i otwarta postawę wobec parafian, a zwłaszcza
dla rodzin, które korzystały z Jego pomocy na cmentarzu
w trudnych dla nich momentach pogrzebu bliskiej osoby.
Dziękujemy panu John'owi za te wszystkie lata owocnej
współpracy i życzymy Bożego błogosławieństwa na zasłużonej
emeryturze. Szczęść Boże!
