On MEMORIAL DAY, which will be celebrated by
our nation on Monday, May 26th, there will be
only one Mass celebrated in our church. This
Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Please come to
pray for our veterans and for the men and women
presently serving in the Military and for all of our
men and women who have given their lives for their country.
A Prayer of Blessing for those
Deployed to Serve in the Military
Lord and Holy Protector, You called Abraham and Sarah to leave
their homeland and to journey away from their own people. Yet you
kept them safe wherever they went. Protect our children, our husbands and wives, our mothers and fathers, our friends and loved
ones who now are fighting this war in the Middle East. Be their companion and guide their thoughts. Encircle them with your light, and
keep them from harm. And when their service is ended, lead them
safely home again. For you, O God, are our shelter in every storm
and our refuge in times of danger. We ask this through Christ our
Lord. Amen
Father’s Day will be celebrated on Sunday, June 15th. If you would like to remember your father, grandfathers, godfather or anyone who
fulfilled the role of father in your life, with a spiritual gift,
please remember to take home a Father’s Day Remembrance envelope today. They can be found at all church
entrances. Please complete the information on the envelope, enclose your offering and place it in the collection basket when you come to Mass. The intentions for all of the
Masses celebrated in our church on Sunday, June 15th will
be for our living and deceased fathers.
The mailing containing the Parish Raffle information is complete. All of our parishioners should
have received our 2008 Parish Raffle tickets and
the information sheet about the raffle. We will
hold our first Early Bird Raffle for a chance to win
$100 on Sunday, June 15th at the 9AM Mass. Those who have sold
all ten raffle tickets and have made payment for them will be eligible
to win in the raffle. The cover of the raffle book will be used for the
drawing. There are just three weeks left until June 15th for the first
Early Bird Drawing. More raffle books can be obtained at the rectory
office.

Why do we have to go to Mass?
Whether you’re eight years old or in your eighties, at some point in
your life, you’ve probably struggled with this question.
► You just may not feel like going at times.
► You may think Mass is boring.
► You may try to convince yourself that you can pray just as well
outdoors or in the comfort of your own home.
The Power of Negative Thinking
Even though you know that going to Mass is a good thing, you can
talk yourself out of going by focusing on the negatives. At first, you
may feel a little guilty, but eventually, you can justify your decision
by convincing yourself that you are too busy, too tired, too bored, or
too frustrated. When that happens, you miss the great gift that God
gives to us in the Eucharist.
Thinking Positively
What if you changed your attitude about going to Mass? What if you
began to think of Mass as the time in the day when you can connect
with God and with other people in a special way? What if you concentrated on the things you like about your parish instead of what
you don’t like? What if you made Mass a priority?
The effects of these kinds of positive attitudes may surprise you.
Research shows that people who go to church every week are:
► less likely to suffer from depression.
► less likely to abuse drugs or alcohol
► More likely to have a solid sense of right and wrong
► More likely to live a longer and happier life

The Body and Blood of Christ
John 6:51-58
Have you ever had the experience of recalling a past event, or a person whom you
once knew, and having that memory be so
vivid that it’s as if you were reliving the event
or encountering that person all over again?
This is how powerful our capacity for memory can be, and it
gives us a glimpse into what can happen whenever we celebrate the Eucharist.
Jesus promised that anyone who eats his flesh and drinks
his blood abides in him, just as he abides in them. But this
“abiding” isn’t automatic. It comes as we remember at Mass,
bringing to the forefront of our minds who Jesus is and all he
did for us on the cross. But to remember in this way is not just
an activity of the mind, it is an act of the will and of the heart.
So what are we to remember? First and foremost, we are to
recall the great love Jesus has for us. It’s a personal love, a
love in which he sees all our strengths and weaknesses-all
our goodness and failures-and treasures us as his very own.
We remember that this is the same Jesus who was with the
Father from the beginning, the exact representation of the
Father’s being who sustains all things by his word. We remember that he was sent by the Father to rescue us and to
bring us the precious gift of salvation. We remember that in
his death he has destroyed the power of sin forever.
We remember, too, that in Christ there is no condemnation,
because through him we have been set free from the law of
sin and death. And we remember that as we eat his body and
drink his blood, we are healed, transformed, strengthened,
comforted, and united with the entire body of Christ, throughout the world and even in heaven itself. Truly, our God has
given us a precious gift in his own body and blood!

“Miles Jesu, an Institute for Consecrated Life, will hold a Summer Camp for girls ages 10-16 in Dixon, Illinois this June 28 –
July 5. At this overnight camp with lodging in cabins, girls will
enjoy canoeing, swimming, archery, hayrides, sports, arts &
crafts, dancing and many other activities. Girls will also receive
spiritual formation through Daily Mass, spiritual talks, Rosary,

En aquel tiempo, dijo Jesús a los judíos: Yo soy el
pan vivo que ha bajado del cielo; el que coma de este
pan vivirá para siempre. Y el pan que yo daré es mi
carne para la vida del mundo. Disputaban los judíos
entre sí: ¿Cómo puede éste darnos a comer su carne?
Entonces Jesús les dijo: Os aseguro que si no coméis
la carne del Hijo del hombre y no bebéis su sangre, no
tenéis vida en vosotros. El que come mi carne y bebe
mi sangre tiene vida eterna, y yo lo resucitaré en el
último día. Mi carne es verdadera comida, y mi sangre es verdadera bebida. El que come mi carne y bebe
mi sangre habita en mí y yo en él. El Padre que vive

Memorial Day
Este 26 de Mayo celebramos a todos
los soldados que han dado su vida en
Los Estados Unidos de América. En
nuestra iglesia vamos a celebrar la
Misa a horas 9:00 AM. Todos son
invitados .
Ya hemos terminado las clases de catecismo
(CCD) de año 2007/2008. Las inscripciones
para nuevo año de 2008/2009 se realizarán
el día jueves 12 de Agosto de 2008. También las formas de registro pueden dejar en la rectoría

Solemnidad, Santísimo Cuerpo
y Sangre de Cristo
Esta fiesta se comenzó a celebrar en
Lieja en 1246, siendo extendida a
toda la Iglesia occidental por el Papa
Urbano IV en 1264, teniendo como
finalidad proclamar la fe en la presencia real de Jesucristo en la Eucaristía.
Presencia permanente y substancial más allá de la celebración de la
Misa y que es digna de ser adorada en la exposición solemne y en
las procesiones con el Santísimo Sacramento que entonces comenzaron a celebrarse y que han llegado a ser verdaderos monumentos
de la piedad católica. Ocurre, como en la solemnidad de la Trinidad,
que lo que se celebra todos los días tiene una ocasión exclusiva
para profundizar en lo que se hace con otros motivos. Este es el día
de la eucaristía en sí misma, ocasión para creer y adorar, pero también para conocer mejor la riqueza de este misterio a partir de las
oraciones y de los textos bíblicos asignados en los tres ciclos de las
lecturas.
El Espíritu Santo después del dogma de la Trinidad nos recuerda el
de la Encarnación, haciéndonos festejar con la Iglesia al Sacramento por excelencia, que, sintetizando la vida toda del Salvador, tributa
a Dios gloria infinita, y aplica a las almas, en todos los tiempos, los
frutos extraordinarios de la Redención. Si Jesucristo en la cruz nos
salvó, al instituir la Eucaristía la víspera de su muerte, quiso en ella
dejarnos un vivo recuerdo de la Pasión. El altar viene siendo como
la prolongación del Calvario, y la misa anuncia la muerte del Señor.
Porque en efecto, allí está Jesús como una víctima, pues las palabras de la doble consagración nos dicen que primero se convierte el
pan en Cuerpo de Cristo, y luego el vino en Su Sangre, de manera
que, ofrece a su Padre, en unión con sus sacerdotes, la sangre
vertida y el cuerpo clavado en la Cruz.
Procesión del Corpus Christi. Las procesiones son a modo de públicas manifestaciones de fe; y por eso la Iglesia las fomenta y favorece hasta con indulgencias. Pero la más solemne de todas las procesiones es la de Corpus Christi. En ella se cantan himnos sagrados y eucarísticos de Santo Tomás de Aquino, el Doctor Angélico y
de la Eucaristía. Algunos de los himnos utilizados tradicionalmente
son: Pange lengua; Sacris solemniis; Verbum supérnum; Te
Deum, al terminar la procesión; y, Tantum ergo, al volver de la procesión, en torno del altar para finalizar.
El Día de los Padres — 15 de Junio
A la salida de la iglesia se encuentran los
sobres para el Día de los Padres. No hay mejor regalo que encargar la Misa por nuestros
padres vivos o difuntos.
Rifa Parroquial
Les avisamos que esta en la venta la Rifa que se va a
rifar el día 24 de Agosto para todos los que no son
registrados en nuestra parroquia. El premio principal
es de $3000. El costo de un ticket es de $10. Por favor
colaboren y compren la rifa para ayudar a nuestra
parroquia. El ticket se puede adquirir a la salida de la
iglesia o en la oficina parroquial. Primer sorteo adelantado de esta rifa con un premio de $100 vamos a tener el día15 de
Junio en la Misa a las 9:00AM de las personas cuales han comprado
los 10 ticket y junto con el dinero han regresado a la rectoría antes de
15 de Junio.

Uroczystość Najświętszego Ciała i Krwi Chrystusa
Jezus powiedział do Żydów: Ja jestem chlebem
żywym, który zstąpił z nieba. Jeśli kto spożywa
ten chleb, będzie żył na wieki. Chlebem, który Ja
dam, jest moje ciało za życie świata. Sprzeczali
się więc między sobą Żydzi mówiąc: Jak On może
nam dać /swoje/ ciało do spożycia? Rzekł do nich
Jezus: Zaprawdę, zaprawdę, powiadam wam: Jeżeli nie będziecie spożywali Ciała Syna Człowieczego i nie będziecie pili Krwi Jego, nie będziecie
mieli życia w sobie. Kto spożywa moje Ciało i pije
moją Krew, ma życie wieczne, a Ja go wskrzeszę
w dniu ostatecznym. Ciało moje jest prawdziwym
pokarmem, a Krew moja jest prawdziwym napojem. Kto spożywa moje Ciało i Krew moją pije,
trwa we Mnie, a Ja w nim. Jak Mnie posłał żyjący
Ojciec, a Ja żyję przez Ojca, tak i ten, kto Mnie
spożywa, będzie żył przeze Mnie. To jest chleb,
który z nieba zstąpił - nie jest on taki jak ten, który
jedli wasi przodkowie, a poumierali. Kto spożywa
ten chleb, będzie żył na wieki.

Miesiąc Maj!
W tradycji polskiej miesiąc maj jest poświęcony Najświętszej Maryi Pannie. W
tym miesiącu składamy hołd Bożej Rodzicielce odmawiając litanię loretańską do
Matki Bożej jak też rozważając tajemnice
różańca świętego.
Zwróćmy uwagę by w tym miesiącu czy to w sposób prywatny czy też przez udział w nabożeństwie w
kościele tej pięknej tradycji stało się zadość i abyśmy
potrafili żyć tak jak żyła Maryja Matka Chrystusa.
W naszym kościele litania będzie śpiewana 15 minut
przed rozpoczęciem Mszy św.

O Uroczystości Bożego Ciała.
Najświętszy Sakrament Ciała i Krwi Pańskiej czci Kościół w
każdej Mszy Świętej. W Wielki Czwartek obchodzimy rocznicę ustanowienia Eucharystii, ponieważ jednak radosne wspomnienie ostatniej wieczerzy tłumiło w Wielkim Tygodniu rozważanie męki Chrystusa, zostało ustanowione osobne święto,
którego celem jest publiczne wyznanie wiary w obecność Pana Naszego Jezusa Chrystusa w Najświętszym Sakramencie,
oddanie Mu czci należnej i uwielbienia, podziękowanie za
łaski płynące przez ten Sakrament, wreszcie przebłaganie Go
za zniewagi wyrządzone przez słabość i oziębłość naszą i
bluźnierstwa niewiernych.
Powodem ustanowienia tego święta były objawienia jakie
miewała św. Julianna augustynka z Cornillon (1193-1258). Po
zbadaniu sprawy ustanowiono święto w diecezji Liege
(Belgia). Papież Urban IV wprowadził je do Kościoła powszechnego; jego zarządzenia potwierdził Papież Klemens V i
Jan XXII, który dodał oktawę. Oficjum i Mszę ułożył Św.
Tomasz z Akwinu, który tak dobrał teksty, aby służyły do
rozważania najgłówniejszych prawd o Eucharystii. W Sekwencji zaś Św. Tomasz zawarł streszczenie nauki katolickiej
o Najświętszym Sakramencie.

26 maja czyli w ostatni poniedziałek maja
przypada Dzień wdzięczności i pamięci o
tych, którzy w jakichkolwiek wojnach oddali życie za wolność Ojczyzny. Dlatego
też w tym dniu o godz. 9.00 AM będzie

Loterii Parafialnej. Każdy, kto nabywa takie Losy,
ma możliwość wygrania, ale przede wszystkim
wspiera naszą Parafię. Losy Loterii można nabywać u Pana Andrzeja, wychodząc z Kościoła. Cały
bloczek - 10 Losów kosztuje $100.-; 1 Los - $10.-.
Do osób, które są zapisane w naszej parafii te losy zostały już
wysłane wraz z listem. Dnia 15 czerwca na Mszy św. o godzinie
9:00AM odbędzie się pierwsze wcześniejsze losowanie z nagrodą
$100 dla jednej z osób które kupiły cały bloczek (10 losów) i odesłały wraz z pieniędzmi do biura parafialnego przed 15 czerwca.

Parafii M.B. Częstochowskiej w Cicero. Po Mszy Św. będzie poczęstunek.
Różaniec odmawiamy przez dzieci będzie na wozach, podczas jazdy furmankowej prowadzony przez siostry zakonne z Parafii Św. Błażeja. Zapraszamy
