Archdiocesan Protection of Children Requirements
All parish and school volunteers that work with children must
comply with safety procedures (such as catechists for CCD,
coaches, etc.) that were established by the archdiocese. They
need to have certain screening papers completed and also have
training in the VIRTUS PROGRAM before they can work with
children. On Wednesday night September 3, 2008 at 6:30pm
the proper information will be distributed in Makuch Hall. Volunteers of the parish and school are asked to come and to obtain
this information and to complete the procedures. More information can be received by contacting Mr. Theis (708) 656-5010 or
Miss Mary Warchol (7080) 652-4548.
School News
An Orientation Night for parents will be held at 6:30pm in Makuch Hall on Wednesday, September 3rd for families with students in Kdg. through 8th grade. Sister Mary Paul, the new
Archdiocesan Superintendent of Catholic Schools is scheduled
to visit our school sometime on Friday, September 12th. Fall
picture day is Tuesday, September 16th. Registrations are still
being taken for Kindergarten through Gr. 8. Call (708) 656-5010

Religious Education (CCD))
classes will begin on Saturday

8AM until 10AM. Students can be registered on the first day
of class or registration forms can be dropped off at the rectory. We accept students from 2nd through 8th grade, and

The Archdiocesan “Celebration of Life” Mass will be celebrated by
Cardinal Francis George on Saturday, 20, 2008 at 4:30 PM. This
Mass will be celebrated at St. Cornelius Church which is located at
5205 N. Lieb in Chicago, IL 60630. (Near Foster & Long). Come
and celebrate the sanctity of all human life during Respect Life
Month at this special archdiocesan Mass. ALL ARE WELCOME. A
reception with Cardinal George will follow the Mass. This will be a
great way to kick-off and recommit to another year of Pro-Life ministry in our parish and our archdiocese. October is “RESPECT
LIFE MONTH.

THE WOMEN’S CENTER
Join Conrad Wojnar as he walks with his granddaughter, Kylie, in the
annual WALK FOR LIFE. This year’s fundraiser will be held on Sunday,
September 21 from 9:30am to 1pm. The event will begin with Mass and
continue with a highly-visible walk along a route on the northwest side of
Chicago. Stops on the route include lunch at the Women’s Center and a
chance to pray at “Family Planning Associates (Albany Abortion Mill).

The Chicago Archdiocese is sponsoring the 40 Days for Life campaign which will provide a peaceful presence praying outside abortion
clinics. It will take place 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from September 24 through November 12. The Women’ s Center needs people
to call and sign up for an hour or two of Eucharistic Adoration in our
Chapel or to pray outside of the nearby Albany Clinic. Call Janet at 773794-4772. At the present time they need diapers (especially preemie
and larger sizes), new clothes for layettes, crib sheets, bumper pads
and infant toiletries. The families who receive them are grateful for your
generosity. Also needed are baby cribs, extra crib parts and crib mattresses and infant car seats. Sometimes you can get them free or almost free for a good cause at a garage sale. It will be a great help if you
can deliver these to the Women’s Center or call 773-794-1313 for pick
up.

Sunday, September 7—Romans 13:8-10
Love your neighbor as yourself. (Romans 13-9).
Have your ever noticed how the commandments that we
hear most often are the ones we have the hardest time
fulfilling?” Take today’s second reading as an example.
We all have to deal with people who try our patience or rub
us the wrong way. And then there’s the pull of the world,
urging us toward a self-centered approach to life. And all
the time, we hear in the back of our minds Jesus telling us
to love one another, even to prefer one another to ourselves.
This is a demanding call! Like Jesus, we should seek to
serve instead of being served (Matthew 20:28). He asks us
to take the “lowest place” at the banquet (Luke 14:9). He
even warns us that if we strive to be first, we will be last,
but if we strive to be last, we will be first (Matthew 20:16).
In today’s readings, God is inviting us to do a little selfexamination. How have you done lately in loving your
neighbor as yourself? Have you failed to defend a friend
because you were afraid of criticism from others? Have
you judged someone unfairly? Have you used someone
for selfish purposes? Or have you neglected to help a
friend who needed you because it was inconvenient?
These are uncomfortable questions to ask, to be sure.
But don’t forget that God knows how much you want to do
good, even though you fail at times. He also knows that he
has placed his Spirit in you to give you divine strength and
to make changes that seem impossible. So don’t be afraid
to open up to him and ask him to help you. Remember
God is love. And that love is generous and overflowing. Let
him love you, and you’ll find yourself loving other people
more and more.
“Heavenly Father, forgive me for putting myself first. By
your spirit, teach me how to love. Father, unite all your
children as one!”

XXII Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario
En aquel tiempo, empezó Jesús a explicar a sus discípulos que
tenía que ir a Jerusalén y padecer allí mucho por parte de los
senadores, sumos sacerdotes y letrados, y que tenía que ser
ejecutado y resucitar al tercer día. Pedro se lo llevó aparte y se
puso a increparlo:
-- ¡No lo permita Dios, Señor! Eso no puede pasarte.Jesús se
volvió y dijo a Pedro:-- Quítate de mi vista, Satanás, que me
haces tropezar; tú piensas como los hombres, no como Dios.
Entonces dijo Jesús a sus discípulos:
-- El que quiera venirse conmigo, que se niegue a sí mismo,
que cargue con su cruz y me siga. Si uno quiere salvar su vida,
la perderá; pero el que la pierda por mí la encontrará. ¿De qué
le sirve a un hombre ganar el mundo entero, si arruina su vida?
¿O qué podrá dar para recobrarla? Porque el Hijo del Hombre
vendrá entre sus ángeles, con la gloria de su Padre, y entonces
pagará a cada uno según su conducta.
SAN MATEO 16- 21- 27
Tras desvelar qué es lo que
le espera, cuál es su camino
y su misión, Jesús se dirige
a los Doce y al pueblo y les
revela cómo han de vivir si
quieren ser de los suyos, si
quieren sentir la liberación de Dios y alcanzar la
plenitud. Mateo recoge una serie de sentencias
claras, duras y tajantes: «El que quiera venirse
conmigo, que se niegue a sí mismo, que cargue
cada día con su cruz y me siga; porque si uno
quiere salvar su vida la perderá; en cambio el
que pierda su vida por mí, la salvará...» (vv. 2325). No es un slogan que esté de moda el decir
“Carga con tu cruz….”. Pero en el seguimiento
de Jesús es preciso asumir y asimilar que las cosas no van a ir bien. Es preciso aceptar que la
tarea crea controversia, que sea mal vista y no
tenga éxito. El fracaso, libremente aceptado, es
el único camino que puede ayudar al cristiano a
cambiar de actitud frente a los absolutizados valores del éxito y la eficacia que dominan en
nuestro mundo.

Recordamos que las Clases de Religión (CCD) comienzan
el 6 de septiembre (sábado) por la mañana (de 8.00 a
10.00 a.m.). Los participantes tienen que registrarse durante el primer día de las clases. El formulario se puede coger
de la rectoría. Aceptamos chicos del 2 hasta 8 grado. Recordamos que los estudiantes deben registrar se cada ano.

¿Se deben bautizar los niños?
El bautizar niños era una costumbre ya por el año 200 y
se piensa que desde los primerísimos tiempos de la Iglesia ha existido esta práctica.
En la Biblia no encontramos textos en contra del bautismo
de los niños. Sin embargo, hay indicaciones en las cuales
está implícita la práctica de bautizarlos.
En la carta a los Corintios el Apóstol Pablo dice:
«También bauticé a la familia de Estéfanas» (1 Cor. 1,
16), y se supone que en una familia hay niños.
En los Hechos de los Apóstoles, Pablo nos narra cómo él bautizó en la
ciudad de Filipos a una señora, llamada Lidia, «con toda su familia» (Hech. 16, 15).
Y refiriéndose al carcelero de Filipos, también dice: «Recibió el bautismo
él y todos los suyos» (Hech. 16, 33).
Esta práctica de bautizar los niños ha existido desde los comienzos en
la Iglesia, y el mismo Lutero, fundador del protestantismo e inspirador de
las iglesias evangélicas, admitió el bautismo de niños porque ellos son
bautizados en la fe de la Iglesia.
El bautismo es antes que nada el sacramento de la fe. Ahora bien, algunos dirán que el niño todavía no puede proclamar conscientemente esta
fe en Cristo. Entonces, ¿no sería mejor esperar hasta que el niño llegue
a ser adulto y proclame por sí solo su fe cristiana?
No olvidemos que el bautismo no es un puro signo de fe; el bautismo
también es «causa de fe» y produce como efecto en el bautizado «la
iluminación interior». Sin duda, la gracia recibida en el bautismo, el poder del Espíritu Santo con sus dones y la fe que irradia una familia cristiana ayudarán a que el niño, poco a poco, responda con una fe libre y
personal.
La Iglesia, y muy concretamente los padres y los padrinos, puede tomar
el lugar del niño; el niño que es bautizado no cree todavía por sí mismo,
sino por medio de otros, por la fe de la Iglesia o de la comunidad cristiana. Por eso se suele decir que «los niños son bautizados en la fe de los
padres y en la fe de la comunidad cristiana». Por supuesto que la Iglesia
siempre pide el compromiso a los padres y padrinos para que lo eduquen cristianamente.

señaló al capitán que estaba cerca del hombre condenado a muerte. El
oficial apunto su bayoneta en el costado de Anacleto. Entonces los
soldados, queriendo terminar con la agonia de Anacleto, apuntaron
sus rifles y lo acribillaron a muerte. ¡"Yo muero pero Dios no!" y
gritó: ¡"Viva Cristo Rey"!

Rozważanie na najbliższy tydzień...
Jezus zaczął wskazywać swoim uczniom na to, że musi iść do
Jerozolimy i wiele cierpieć od starszych i arcykapłanów, i uczonych w Piśmie; że będzie zabity i trzeciego dnia zmartwychwstanie. A Piotr wziął Go na bok i począł robić Mu wyrzuty: Panie,
niech Cię Bóg broni! Nie przyjdzie to nigdy na Ciebie. Lecz On
odwrócił się i rzekł do Piotra: Zejdź Mi z oczu, szatanie! Jesteś Mi
zawadą, bo nie myślisz o tym, co Boże, ale o tym, co ludzkie.
Wtedy Jezus rzekł do swoich uczniów: Jeśli kto chce pójść za
Mną, niech się zaprze samego siebie, niech weźmie krzyż swój i
niech Mnie naśladuje. Bo kto chce zachować swoje życie, straci
je; a kto straci swe życie z mego powodu, znajdzie je. Cóż bowiem za korzyść odniesie człowiek, choćby cały świat zyskał, a
na swej duszy szkodę poniósł? Albo co da człowiek w zamian za
swoją duszę? Albowiem Syn Człowieczy przyjdzie w chwale Ojca
swego razem z aniołami swoimi, i wtedy odda każdemu według
jego postępowania.

Nie można być uczniem Jezusa, nie naśladując Go w
niesieniu krzyża. „Zaprzeć się samego siebie”, „brać
krzyż” – to coś więcej, niż tylko pogodzić się z życiowymi trudnościami, takimi jak choroba czy kłopoty w pracy. Oznacza to aktywny udział w trosce
Jezusa o zbawienie świata, pozostawienie własnych
wyobrażeń, dotyczących wiary i zbawienia, i uczenie
się Bożego sposobu myślenia i wartościowania. Pan
zaprasza nas dzisiaj do wejścia wraz z Nim na drogę
krzyża – drogę chwalebną, bo opromienioną blaskiem Jego Zmartwychwstania. Niech celebrowana
liturgia uzdolni nas do podjęcia tego wezwania.

Kurs przed Chrztem dziecka
Przypominamy, że w każdą trzecią niedzielę miesiąca w naszej
parafii po Mszy św. o godz.
10.30 odbywa się kurs przygotowujący rodziców i chrzestnych
do chrztu dziecka.
Osoby zamierzające ochrzcić
dziecko w naszej parafii są proszone o zgłoszenie się na ten
kurs prze chrztem dziecka. Dlatego należy pamiętać, aby:
► zgłosić się do kancelarii parafialnej przynajmniej
półtora miesiąca prze chrztem. (Aby uczestniczyć w
kursie przygotowującym)
► Przy zapisaniu chrztu jest wymagany akt urodzenia
dziecka.

również i dzisiaj wychodząc z kościoła można nabyć nowy numer
Tygodnika Katolickiego
„Niedziela”. Znajdziemy tam bardzo ciekawe artykuły na temat
życia kościoła w Polsce także
naszej Archidiecezji. Czytając
ten tygodnik a także inne publikacje np.: „Różaniec”, „Anioł stróż”, „Rodzina
Radia Maryja” pogłębiamy naszą wiarę oraz
miłość do Boga i Kościoła.
