Abstract. The aim of paper is spatial differentation analysis of life level in rural areas which
are situated in provinces of Poland in 2004 year. For analysis were used coefficients described
by: housing condition and infrastructure of village, education and health prevention,
population and work market. The classification was made by methods which belong to two
groups: without pattern (taksonomy measure of development) and standard group (pattern of
Hellwig).

Abstract. The aim of article is qualification of agriculture level in provinces of Poland in
2003 year. With help of choosen methods of classification was made estimate of regional
differentiation of agricultural level. In article were used hierarchical agglomerative methods:
centre of gravity, Ward's method and also k-mean method, which is optimal – iterative. Four
concetrations of provinces were distinguished and compared. The centre of gravity method
gave several one – element classes, but mentioned above another methods gave approximate
classifications. Results are given in article are presented in tree form connections form and
also maps of Poland form, what show regional differentiation of agricultural level.
Calculations were made by use Statistica Statsoft.

Abstract. 2005 is a second year after Polish accession to the EU. All of the analysis indicate
on the continuous and dynamic development of the economically large holdings (> 40 ESU),
operating larger land areas (> 50 ha of the arable land) in the EU 15 countries (in the countires
comparable to Poland). Development of this group in Polish agriculture is to slow, and its
share in the agrarian structure to small. Share of large agricultural holdings in the Polish
agrarian structure is strongly regionally diversed. “Pomorze and Mazury” region has the
largest share of large agricultural holdings.Regarding development of this group in the total
number of holdings in Polish agriculture, the gap between Poland and the countries, with
which we will compete on the EU Common Agricultural Market, is spreading. Polish
economically large holdings, despite low ratio of subsidies to the value of those holdings
production, are competetive to the economically large holdings from comparable EU
countries. However this competetive edge is mainly based on the low costs due to lower cost
of paid work, lower taxes and rents, lower costs related to debts and the larger land area. This
is particularly visible in the “Pomorze and Mazury” regionTo keep competetive edge on the
more stable basis, those holdings have to increase pruductivity of land, first of all by increase
in share of live stock production, but also by increase in plant and live stock efficiency and
labour, first of all by employment rationalization, but also by production increase.

Abstract. The research aims to assess the diversity of the development level of a selected
branch of the agriculture between EU members measured by the mean of production
indicators. The paper presents results of an analysis of the oilseeds production patterns in EU.
The study takes into consideration production volume, production per capita and yields. The
employed statistical analysis attempts to characterise multivariate phenomenon of agricultural
industries competitive position by creation of an aggregate variable. The methodology of that
measures’ building up encompasses normalisation process of diagnostic characteristics (zero
unitarisation). The outcome of the research is the countries ranking and their typology against
production patterns of raw products for the plant fats fabrication. The countries positioning
was mostly determined by aggregated production and yield indexes.

Abstract. The article is an attempt to compare the efficiency of production of different
species of oil seed plants on the basis of data from selected farms associated in International
Farm Comparison Network (IFCN). With the aim to compare the efficiency of this plants
production both revenues and costs were converted in the common unit called MtRE (Metric
tonne Rapeseed Equivalent) and then technical efficiency for particular plant was computed
by applying Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method.

Abstract. In the paper author presents the static analisis of level of development of ecological
farming in Poland in years 1990–2005. Due to the fact of polish mebership in EU, there is
also presented the situation of farming development in particular countries of EU. There is
also presented the dynamism of creation homesteads with ecological products. Production of
healthy food might be the best form of using polish resources and it also might be the serious
competition to current liders in production of healthy food. This argument bases on the
following: using less amount of chemmicals in traditional farming, big amount of cheap and
free workers, big amount of unused ground, cheap production of ecological goods in relation
to EU partners.

focused.

Abstract. In the paper analysis of preparation of rural and municipal rural communities in
local development strategies and also other documentations having impact on the EU fund
obtaining was made. On the base of opinions of representatives of territorial self-governments
one can indicate factors guarantying national development of communities. It was appeared
that among factors determining a development of communities in the future representatives of
local self-governments mentioned such ones as: availability of the EU funds, growth in nonagricultural enterprise and also increasing financial inputs.

Abstract. Unemployment of graduates is one of the most serious problems in Poland. Many
graduates begin their professional career from an unemployment benefit. Unemployment
among people who have gained a particular level of education is a negative phenomenon. It
causes that none of the job functions – economic, income-generating, or social – can be
fulfilled. The effort made while obtaining education and qualifications proves futile. The
present paper aims to analyse the activity of the unemployed in job searching, their
disposition for mobility and preferences about their future work place.

Abstract. The paper presents the results of the 12/EP 2001–2004 and MSM 6215648904
researches with their applications in enterprise practice, in the sphere of strategic control of
enterprise management focused on the methods of decision-making enabling an enterprise to
respond to changes in the entrepreneurial environment. Rapid changes, principally in the
external environment, require of the business management to select new approaches and
methods of decision-making and to have a well conceived algorithm enabling a flexible
response to customers’ wishes. The paper presents particular applications in the joint-stock
company Bioveta Ivanovice na Hané which has a very large scope of business. Bioveta deals
with research, production and sale of veterinary biopreparations and drugs on the Czech
market, the existing EU market, and about thirty other world markets. Within the foregoing
complicated scope of business, methodical procedures were formulated in the research for
marketing activities, inventory management, quality management, and the system to motivate
managers and employees. The paper follows up with the results published in scientific
magazines and presented at scientific conferences, mainly IAES (Paris, 2002), ČZU PEF
Prague (2002–2003), SPU FEM Nitra (2002–2004), and Agriculture Economics (IV/2001 and
V/2003).

Abstract. The aim of the paper is to present optimal control method applied to renewable
resources management under constraints of the regional sustainable development. Optimal
economic growth under about assumptions is modelled. The protected inside-land water area
divided into "harvest allowable" part and "harvest not- allowable" part is the subject of the
study. For equilibrium conditions, which take place if the natural growth in protected part is
equal to migration, resource and harvesting are found as the functions of time.

Abstract. Economic policy assumes a use by state of economical tools to achieve economic
targets. Development of agriculture and entrepreneur of countryside is one of the main aims
of Polish economic policy. There are a number of financial tools, like as European Union
funds, guarantee funds and preferential loans. Preferential loans (current and investment) have
been granted to individual farmers for over 15 years. It is worth thinking whether their role
would decrease parallel to other tools increase. A paper presents a concise analysis of
investment preferential loans granted in 2002–2004 in Zachodniopomorskie area in frame of
Poland.

Abstract. The main aim of the article is mark of using of services by farms in Poland in
period of transformation. One has stated, that farms in Poland in relatively not large range use
services. It results mostly from low agricultural incomes, how as also not large advanced
processes of specialization. In period of transition Polish economy decreasing of frequency of
using of services by farms taken place. The most popular in group of examined respondents
were veterinary and advisory services. One can suppose, that tools of CAP in Polish
agriculture will force to increase od demand on advisory services realized not only by
qualified institutions ie. ODR, ARiMR, but also banks, consulting firms, whether firms
working in sphere of supply of materials for agricultures. Besides one has stated, that increase
of acreage of farms lead to fall of participation of expenses on services in values of market
production.

member collaboration and coordination service tools. This information environment enables

Abstract. The main objective of this paper was to examine the effectiveness of the inter- and
extrapolating methods in forecasting real processes, as well as to find out the factors
determining their effectiveness. The studies were based on a’vista deposits collected from two
banks. The literature presents a variety of numeric methods used for estimating inter- and
extrapolating forecasts. The following methods were discussed: Lagrange method, Chebyshev
polynomials, Brown and Holt models and trigonometric polynomial model. The results of
empirical studies indicate that econometric methods may be applied to forecast missing data.

GENERAL METHODS OF BUILDING OF COMBINED FORECASTS

Abstract. In the article author considers the situation in which several forecasts of the same
variable are available. The main problem is to select the best forecast, which will be burdened
with the smallest error. It enables us to create new forecast – the combined forecast with the
smallest variance of prediction error. The author analyses two basic methods of creating
combined forecasts as a weighted average and examines the efficiency of combined forecasts
in comparison with individual forecasts. In the majority of the examination cases combined
forecasts have smaller prediction errors than input basic forecasts. It appears that the results of
empirical research confirmed the results of theoretical considerations: the higher efficiency of
combined forecast in comparison with individual forecasts. It is particularly important in the
situation, when the differences in parameters characterizing predictors are small.

Abstract. Since transition into the market economy the development of Polish economy has
been the main priority of the national government. The food and agriculture division forms
the basis for existence of the economies of many countries and sustains their foreign trade.
The situation is quite similar in Poland where the development of this branch of the national
economy could be observed. The accession of Poland into the European Union preceded by
pre-accession processes accelerated various changes and rationalized the development of the
food and agricultural industries and its share in the international trade increasing the balance
of trade either on the side of import as well as export.

Abstract. In the article problem of foreign direct investments in the polish food industry
between 1993–2004 was presented. Special attention was paid to investments value in general
and in particular branches as well as the higgest investors. Till 2004 cumulated investments
value in the food industry fetched 6624 mln USD, which was 7.8% of foreign direct
investments in Polish economy. The investors were mostly interested in four branches:
tobacco, beer, confectionery and soft drinks. In above branches were located about 77% all
foreign investments in the food industry. Among top investors were: Heineken International
D.V., Coca-Cola, Imperial Tobacco Plc and Nestle S.A. They invested 1968 mln USD, which
was 29.7% foreign direct investments value in the food industry.

Abstract. Poland’s accession to the European Union’s structures resulted in a need of
adopting rules of the Common Trade Policy along with the application of the EU customs

foreign trade. The aim of this paper is an attempt to assess the influence of Poland’s accession
to the EU on changes in the share of fish and fish products in Poland’s foreign trade by

Abstract. The aim of the paper was to present the main changes in export, which exposed

second important change was reorientation of export from Eastern Markets to European

Abstract. Profitability of agricultural production is often placed on border of yield. Is
particularly visible on area of last several years in poultry-breeder's sector. It is very important
to have proper price rates which are price transmission between co-operating enterprises
which enable even allotment of lead activity risk. Researches have exerted, that only partially
transmission of price on chicken meat market was emerged, but first of all, lack of strict rate
growers perceived. However, at solid growth of production whole sector systematically
spreads out, but index of yield is still low.

Abstract. A role of a package in marketing especially food products, in enormous. Apart
from providing safety of products for buyers many other functions of separate packages
among them: logistic, promotional, economic, informational, ecological ones. Growing
importance of packages, results in many legal regulations on food products packaging in
Poland. Entering the European Union Poland compared its legal regulation to EU regulations

Abstract. Pyramidal analysis as an explication of indicatory analysis is one of the methods to
ascertain financial condition of an enterprise. Different structural frameworks are being
created in order to express mutual relations between synthetic indicators related to
profitability of property or profitability of assets. It is crucial to apply superiority and
inferiority rule as regards those utilized indicators, meaning that they can be respectively
combined and divided but with one condition: that on the top of the so called pyramid an
entry indicator is placed. Pyramidal analysis can create a basis in the process of seeking areas
in which financial outcomes can be improved, as well as optimal cost reduction and
possibilities to improve profitability of an enterprise.

financial condition. Based on the estimation function were also positioned ranging from the

Abstract. Development of the domestic market for liquid biofuels as a result of the European
Union recommendations will cause an increase in the manufacture of spirit and rape methyl
esters, which may have an effect on the improvement in economic situation of the spirit and
fat industry. By-products of the technological processes at the production of biofuels are
characterized by high content of the protein and they may be used by the feed industry.
Assessment of the potential benefits resulting from the development of the production and use
of plant-origin biofuels in intermediary sectors, mainly in the feed industry, was carried out.

Abstract. Article shows changes in amounts and structure of food consumption in Poland in
1992–2003. The data of the Central Statistical Office was collected to conduct the research.
Undergoing changes in food consumption are substantial. Sam of these changes are
favourable same, however, are not. For instance, decrease in consumption of cereals produce,
potatoes, alcohols, fats, fruit and vegetables, is favourable. Unfavourable however, is the fact
that fish and milk consumption is going down and smoking is increasing. In addition, there
are significant differences in individual consumption by all walks of life. On the other hand,
alimentary virtue of the average daily doses of food are sufficient an in accordance with the
standards.

Abstract. The aim of the research was to establish structure of expenses in selected
households, belonging to different social groups, with special regard to farm-food products
consumption. Research referred to relationship between type of household, income and
subjective estimate of needs satisfaction as well as structure of consumer expenses. Relatively
most of their income was intended for food purchase among retired employees families
(39.7% of expenses) and lonely elders (38.4%).

Abstract. In article one characterised level of food products’ prices in Poland during the
period of 2002–2005. It is presented also level and structure of average monthly expenditures
(per capita) on basic groups of food products and amount of consumption of some food
products. The analysis shows that essential growth of proces took place in 2004. This caused
decrease in consumption. General leve of expenditures was growing in analysed period
whereas structure of expenditures was rather stable.

Abstract. Globalisation opened economies of many countries, what indicate e.g. taking over
and unifying consumption patterns. Those patterns not always are negative, like fast-food
consumption, but more often refer to ethical life style for example. In this connexion one can
make a reflection if Polish consumers accept Fair Trade idea – connected with goods
originated in economical backward countries, sold under more honest rules, very popular in
Germany. Because this idea is exceptionally just, apart from less knowledge about it in
Poland, so this article represents main Fair Trade rules first of all. Besides it characterises the
reasons and symptoms of present-day unfair trade relations, pointing to XIX and XX century
colonization connections. Moreover this paper characterises history and activity of German
organization GEPA, disseminating Fair Trade goods.

Abstract. The purpose of the matter under discussion is the analysis of the budget’s acts in
the years 1996–2006 in order to estimate the size and structure of the means destined for the

Considerations are ended by conclusions, which make a diagnosis of past and present

Abstract. The article presents the problem of agricultural inhabitants available incomes
against a background of agricultural and non-agricultural sphere participation in gross
domestic product creation. Agricultural available incomes are lower than the other socioeconomic groups. Regarded agricultural and non-agricultural sphere participation in this
creation the opinion of it’s level is not explicit. Agricultural inhabitants available incomes are
58% of incomes of working on their’s own account. And over 69% of incomes of workers
using farms are on the some level. EU accession gave national authorities a chance on new,
non-agricultural incomes resources for rural areas inhabitants creation.
