CHANGE OUR LIVES
In today’s first reading, Jonah, sent by God to
warn the people, storms through Nineveh,
frightening the citizens out of their wits. It
works! They repent before Jonah make his way
through a third of the city and God sees “by their actions” how
they have turned from evil.
Then we hear Paul telling the Corinthians that “the world in
its present form is passing away.” He calls for a change of
heart. He stops short of telling them to set aside their everyday
lives, but still he urges them—rather mysteriously—to live
though they aren’t doing the things they’re doing.
Finally, Jesus stands on the shore and cries, “The kingdom of
God is at hand!” The apostles-to-be abandon their nets and
follow him. Thus in all the readings we hear an invitation to a
radical and immediate change in our lives.
PARTNERS IN EDUCATION AWARDS
On Sunday, January 25th at the 9:30am Liturgy, we will begin the celebration of Catholic Schools Week: A Community
of Faith. The main Celebrant and Homilist is Msgr. James Moroney, Rector of St. John’s Seminary. The children’s choir will
provide liturgical music.
At this Mass we will honor two outstanding parishioners as
recipients of the “Partners in Education Award” 2015.
Michael Kane is recognized for his array of help to St. Joseph School especially at the festivals and throughout the year.
His generosity, support and unselfish attitude is commendable.
Dennis Wasielewski, former Grand Knight of the Knights of
Columbus, Chapter 12980, distinguished himself with many
initiatives, hard work and tireless efforts for the school children
and the Felician Sisters.
On behalf of the school and parish we extend our congratulations to both of these exceptional gentlemen. This prestigious
award is a small token of our appreciation and gratitude of our
children and parishioners. May Michael & Dennis always enjoy
God’s blessings.

DEVOTION AND NOVENA TO SAINT JOSEPH
Pope Francis reminds us that St. Joseph, our Patron, exercises his role as protector because he is able to hear God’s voice
and be guided by his will. For this reason he is all the more
sensitive to the persons entrusted to his safekeeping. In this
way we also learn how to respond to God’s call, readily and
willingly and also see the core of the Christian vocation which
is Christ! Let us protect Christ in our lives, so that we can protect others and creation.
On Wednesday, January 28th we invite members of the St.
Joseph Polish Women’s Club to participate in the Novena and
bring our Patron’s statue to the sanctuary.
We kindly ask parishioners and friends to take part in this
Novena and pray for ourselves, St. Joseph School and our Basilica Parish. Please place your intentions in the box provided.

CHAPLET OF DIVINE MERCY
On Sunday, February 1, which is Divine Mercy Sunday, we
will pray the Chaplet at 3:00pm followed by Benediction. We
are all in dire need of God’s goodness, love and mercy. Please
make a special effort to participate in this devotion asking our
Lord for his graces in our lives.
“Mercy is the central nucleus of the Gospel Message; it is the
very name of God, the Face with which he revealed himself in
the Old Covenant and fully in Jesus Christ, the incarnation of
creative and redemptive Love. May this merciful love also

JANUARY-MONTH OF FORGIVENESS
As we continue our lives in this New Year, full of hopes and
promises—but also fears and challenges—we ask what God has
prepared for us. The family is our first school of forgiveness.
The family prepares us to understand the meaning of God’s
forgiveness. “God proves his love for us in that, while we were
still sinners, Christ died for us”. To be Christian is to encounter
Christ and to receive his forgiveness. As Catholics, we first
receive this forgiveness on the day of our baptism and we renew it through the sacrament of reconciliation.
Forgiveness starts with those who are close to us: our
spouses, children, parents and siblings, as well as our
neighbors, co-workers and friends. The wounds made by those
we love are usually the most hurtful, but love also allows to
heal these wounds. When we forgive someone, we offer that
person the possibility of starting again.
HELP NEEDED-with the ongoing Gym project there is a
variety tasks which have to be completed in a timely fashion.
Therefore, we are looking for a qualified person, with knowledge of computers, extensive vocabulary, skills in grant writing
and ability to work independently with a creative and pleasant
personality.

Mark your Calendar-Parish Dinner to celebrate St. Valentine’s Day will take place on Saturday, Feb., 14th following the
4:00pm Mass. Menu will feature hors d’oeuvres and a complete roast pork dinner, dessert and beverages. Tickets are $10

Join us for BINGO every Friday in the St. Joseph School
Cafeteria. Doors open at 5:00pm, games begin at 6:45PM.

January 30th members of St. Anne Society will assist the

BASILICA CHILDREN’S CHOIRS CD’S
The new Saint Joseph Basilica Children’s Choirs CD, featuring SJS
Choir and Bazyliszki will be available in the sacristy after Masses this
weekend or at the rectory. This CD is a collection of 20 traditional and
contemporary Christmas Carols performed by the children of St.
Joseph School and Parish. The cost is $10.

Jemu niż sobie. To pozwolić, by nas odrywał od tego, na czym jesteśmy skupieni i czym jesteśmy pochłonięci.
To nabrać dystansu do własnych dążeń. Choć zewnętrzne warunki pozostają jednakowe, wewnątrz zmienia się
mnóstwo: w każdej sprawie pytamy Jezusa o Jego wolę, wszystko jej podporządkowujemy, pozwalając, aby to

NAGRODA PARTNERS IN EDUCATION
Dzisiejszej niedzieli, na Mszy św. o godz. 9:30 rozpoczynamy
obchody Tygodnia Szkół Katolickich. W czasie tej liturgii zostaną
uhonorowane dwie osoby: Michael Kane za pełną poświęcenia pomoc
szczególnie w czasie Festiwalu, ale również za pomoc w ciągu całego
roku. Jego szczodrość i otwartość wobec innych jest godna zauważenia
i nagrodzenia. Dennis Wasilewski były Grand Knight Rycerzy
Kolumba zasłużył się wieloma inicjatywami, ciężką pracą
i niezmordowanym poświęceniem dla dzieci naszej szkoły i dla Sióstr
Felicjanek.
W imieniu Szkoły i Parafii składamy serdeczne gratulacje. Wręczana
nagroda to symboliczny znak ogromnego uznania, jakie dla obydwu
panów mają dzieci i parafianie. Niech Michael i Dennis za swoją

NOWENNA DO ŚW. JÓZEFA
Papież Franciszek przypomina nam, że swięty Józef, nasz Patron,
sprawuje swoją rolę opiekuna, bo jest w stanie usłyszeć głos Boga
i kierować się Jego wolą. Z tego powodu, że jest bardziej wrażliwy na
osoby, które powierzono jego opiece. W ten sposób możemy również
dowiedzieć się, jak odpowiedzieć na wezwanie Boga, łatwo i chętnie,
a także zobaczyć istotę powołania chrześcijańskiego, którym jest
Chrystus! Chrońmy Chrystusa w naszym życiu, tak, abyśmy mogli
chronić innych, a tym samym i całe stworzenie dążące do Boga.
W środę 28 stycznia zapraszamy członków St. Joseph Polish
Women’s Club do uczestnictwa w procesji z figurę św. Józefa.
Zapraszamy parafian i przyjaciół do udziału w tej Nowennie, która
pozwala nam wyproszenie u św. Józefa wskazówki i pomocy
w osobistych problemach. Prosimy zapisywać intencje w sposób
czytelny na karteczkach znajdujących się w Kaplicy Matki Bożej.
