Stewardship Note: “Ask and you will receive; seek and you
will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Jesus
assures us that if we ask Him, God will take care of what we
need. The problem is that in our culture we often confuse what
we really need with what we simply want. Many people need
very little. However, we usually want so much more. A good
steward only asks God for what he needs.

OUR FATHER
Having
taught
his
disciples
a simple, daily prayer, Jesus goes on
to reassure them that God answers
prayers. First he tells a parable about a
persistent neighbor who asks a friend
for bread at midnight. The friend is
already in bed and has no desire to
disturb his family by opening the door. But because the
neighbor is persistent, the sleeping man gets up and gives him
all that he needs. If a neighbor is willing to help us if we are
persistent enough, how could God not respond to our requests?
This teaching concludes with the reminder that if we seek, we
will get a response. The parable and the concluding teaching in
this section should not lead us to think of prayer as a series of
requests presented to God. Rather, as Jesus teaches in his
model prayer, prayer consists in recognizing God's holiness and
his rule over all things.
ST. ANNE SOCIETY
We welcome members of the St. Anne Society for their Annual Mass at the Sunday, July 24th Liturgy at 8:15am. New
members will be inducted into the Society during Mass followed by coffee and . . . and a brief meeting in the school cafeteria.

JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY
This week, the universal Church focuses in prayerful solidarity
on World Youth Day in Krakow, where it’s founder, Saint John
Paul II, served as archbishop. Its theme of WYD in the Jubilee year
of Mercy is: “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown
mercy”. Today’s Gospel echoes the same theme, when Jesus unites
prayer with mercy in “The parable of the persistent friend.” Jesus
teaches us not only what words to pray, but what deeds must match
authentic prayer. How beautifully down-to-earth is Jesus’ portrait
of a God who can be trusted to do what is best for us. A pesky
neighbor disturbs a sleeping friend and disrupts the household. Yet
beautiful images unfold. Persevering prayer receives active, practical mercy in loaves of bread, recalling Luke’s unique expression
for the Eucharist, “the breaking of bread”. WYD, the Jubilee, and
Jesus thus unite to define perfect prayer as persevering communion
with God and unconditional mercy toward our neighbor.
Final preparations are under way for WYD including: upcoming events - Wed., Jul. 27; “Mercy from the Mountaintop” a
unique prayer experience for American Bishops and Pilgrims Thurs., Jul. 28 “Journey to the Heights” prayer service and veneration of the relics of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati - Sat., Jul. 30;
Pilgrim Mass for U.S. Pilgrims, concelebrated by the bishops in the
company of the saints, before everyone embarks on the walking
pilgrimage to the final Youth Day events.
RICHARD A. NOWAK GYMNASIUM STATUS
Recently, the Architectural/Engineering Firm of Gorman
Richardson, as well as Lauring Construction evaluated the steel
structure and determined that the damage due to exposure is minor
and its cost is insignificant. However, there are several areas that
must be sanded and treated before we resume construction.
The diocese is requiring that we raise the funds needed to complete
construction of the gymnasium in its entirety before we may move
forward. Therefore, we have expanded our Building Committee
and are working diligently to raise the necessary capital. One of
several projects in this process involves the Saint Joseph Parish and
School community. The first major event “The Foundation for Life
Gala” is scheduled at St. John’s Seminary in Boston on Aug. 19,
at 5:30-9:00pm.
This celebration will honor Monsignor James Moroney with the
Devotion Award and will also recognize the Felician Sisters for
their 125 years of service, since St. Joseph School was their first
missionary outpost in New England and they continue their mission
to the present time.
Although Monsignor Moroney has significant ties to the community of Boston, he has always held a special place in his heart for
our children and has very graciously decided to donate all gifts
made in his honor to the Richard A. Nowak Gymnasium Fund.
Some of the current Saint Joseph School students will be involved in the event. In addition, we are asking that all alumni who
have been educated by the Felician Sisters, attend this special evening in the spirit of gratitude, for a solid and wholistic education.
The success of this event and the funds raised for the benefit of the
gymnasium is dependent upon the support it receives not only from
Monsignor Moroney’s network of friends from the Boston area, but
is also upon the support from our parents and parishioners.
A bus, free of charge, will be available for those who would like
to attend this Gala. Please contact the rectory for details.
REFLECTIONS
Almost every week is filled with tragedies in many countries of the world and also in our nation. In fact, assassinations and killings are on the rise in many cities and states of
our country. The FBI reports that ISIS has cells in all of
our 50 states and there are supposedly thousands of ongoing
investigations of terrorist activities in our country. This
brings the issue of safety to our consciousness—safety of our
nation, safety of our families and ourselves. It is more likely
than ever that incidents in France and Belgium could become a reality here. We or a member of our family or a
friend could be in the wrong place at the wrong time. In
these circumstances the issue of our relationship with God
presents itself with a new exigency. It would be helpful to re
-examine our life of prayer, Sunday worship and charity
deeds, etc. Some how we feel less and less in charge of our
own life and neighborhood. Forces of evil are making desperate efforts to define our lives and our values. One thing is
always clear that in difficult circumstances nations and individuals turn to God. It is a time, from a spiritual point of
view, to strengthen our Catholic identity and from a social
perspective make every effort to improve the safety of our
nation by prudent democratic action.
NOVENA AND DEVOTION TO ST. JOSEPH
Here at St. Joseph Basilica, we have the opportunity each
Wednesday, to participate and spread the good news for the
intention of our Patron. St. Joseph teaches us to pray as well
as to value those moments when by ourselves, with our families, or with the whole Christian community, we invite God
to be a part of our daily life. We ask parishioners and friends
to join us on Wed., July 27th and ask you to write your requests on provided petition slips to be read during the Novena.
Members of the St. Joseph Polish Women’s Club will be
in attendance to carry the statue of St. Joseph into the sanctuary. We appreciate your offerings.
The Peregrination of the Divine Mercy Triptychcontinues weekly to a parishioner’s home for veneration and
prayer. The presence of the Icon of Divine Mercy in a family’s home is a time of glorifying a merciful God and an
opportunity to renew your friendship with Jesus Christ.
Christ comes to a praying family with a richness of His grace
and blessings in a similar way as He came to the Apostles in
the Cenacle after His resurrection with a gifts of peace and
unity. In time of turmoil and confusion threats and tragedies,
mercy could be last the door left open. If you do not want to
enter through it God will admonish us “Even if he has to do
it with a trembling hand”. Please call the rectory to set a
convenient time for you and your family.

Reminder: It is time to register your sons/daughters for
Fall religious education classes. Registration fee is $45 for
one child and $70 for two or more children. Forms are available at the entrances of the Basilica. Please register your
child as soon as possible as textbooks need to be ordered.

Money, TV, Quilt, 50/50 and Gift Basket Raffles, Kid’s
Games, Dance to music of Maestro’s Men on Friday at 6:00pm
and The Eddie Foreman Orchestra on Saturday beginning at
5:30pm.
Polish food includes cheese, cabbage and ruskie pierogi,
kielbasa, kapusta, golabki, potato pancakes, Polish platter, Fr.
Kris’ dill pickles, plus hot dogs, hamburgers, cheese burgers
and French fries. Frozen pierogi will be available for take out.

Year of Mercy Pilgrimage-Bishop McManus will lead a

Worcester at 8:15am and returns 6:30pm. Mass in the Shrine,
Chaplet of Divine Mercy and confessions will be available.

SprawiedliwoŚć Boża tak bardzo
różni się od ludzkiej, że za każdym
razem, gdy odkrywamy tę prawdę,
zdumiewa nas ona na nowo. Bardzo
często postrzegamy sprawiedliwość
Boga jako oczywiste wynagradzanie
dobrych i karanie złych, bez
możliwości odwołania od wyroku. Tymczasem Bóg
usprawiedliwia wielu dzięki dobrym uczynkom jednego
Sprawiedliwego. Dziś zaprasza nas, abyśmy czynili dobro nie
tylko ze względu na własne zbawienie, ale także ze względu na
naszych potrzebujących braci.

ST. ANNE SOCIETY
Członkinie St. Anne Society spotykają się dziś o godz. 8:15
na dorocznej Mszy Wspólnotowej. Stowarzyszenie gromadzi mamy
i babcie dzieci z naszej parafii, a szczególnie z naszej szkoły.
Gromadząc się w imię św. Anny na modlitwie i otaczając modlitewną
troską dzieci i młodzież kontynuujemy wdrażanie w życie codzienne
Bożego Planu Zbawienia.
Po Mszy św. wszystkie członkinie spotykają się w szkolnej kafeterii.
Przed świętem św. Anny będziemy odprawiali trzydniową modlitwę,
która rozpocznie się w niedzielę 24 lipca i zakończy na Mszy św.
o godz. 6:30 we wtorek.
JUBILEUSZOWY ROK MIŁOSIERDZIA
W tym tygodniu Kościół Powszechny łączy się w modlitewnej
wspólnocie z okazji Światowego Dnia Młodzieży w Krakowie, gdzie
twórca ŚDM, Święty Jan Paweł II, służył jako arcybiskup. Ich myśl
przewodnia pokrywa się z proponowaną przez Papieża Franciszka na
Jubileuszowy Rok Miłosierdzia: "Błogosławieni miłosierni, albowiem
oni miłosierdzia dostąpią". Dzisiejsza Ewangelia powtarza ten sam
motyw, kiedy Jezus łączy modlitwę o miłosierdzie z "Przypowieścią
o uporczywym przyjacielu." Jezus uczy nas nie tylko słów modlitwy,
ale i tego, jakie czyny muszą iść w parze z autentyczną modlitwą.
Natarczywy sąsiad zakłóca znajomemu spoczynek i domowy spokój.
Jednak sytuacja rozwija się. Wytrwała prośba skutkuje praktycznym
aktem miłosierdzia, uwidocznionym w bochenku chleba, który jest
w symbolice św. Łukasza obrazem Eucharystii.
PARTNERS IN CHARITY
Dziękujemy naszym parafianom, którzy odpowiedzieli na prośbę
wsparcia tegorocznej akcji Partners in Charity. Dzięki Waszemu
wsparciu małymi krokami zbliżamy się do celu. Zachęcamy i prosimy
również pozostałych parafian o wsparcie programów, dzięki którym
najbardziej potrzebujący nie zostaną bez pomocy.
NOWENNA DO ŚW. JÓZEFA
W naszej Bazylice św. Józefa, mamy okazję w każdą środę,
uczestniczenie w Nowennie i szerzyć dobrą nowinę przez
wstawiennictwo naszego Patrona. Św. Józef uczy nas modlitwy,
jak również doceniania momentów kiedy, sami, lub z rodziną, lub też
we wspólnocie zapraszamy Boga, aby stał się częścią naszego życia.
Zapraszamy wszystkich parafian i przyjaciół, aby dołączyli do
wspólnej modlitwy i skorzystali z okazji do przedstawienia swoich
próśb, które są odczytywane każdorazowo w czasie Nowenny.
Warunkiem odczytania intencji jest jej czytelne zapisanie. Dziękujemy
również za wszelkie składane przy tej okazji ofiary.
W procesji z figurą św. Józefa pójdą członkinie St. Joseph Polish
Women’s Club.
REFLEKSJA
Prawie każdego tygodnia słyszymy o tragediach dziejących się na
całym świecie. Faktycznie, ilość zamachów i zabójstw wzrasta. FBI
donosi, że ISIS ma komórki we wszystkich 50 stanach i tylko
w naszym kraju toczy się tysiące dochodzeń. To budzi niepokój
w kwestii bezpieczeństwa na poziomie całego narodu jak i naszych
rodzin. Niestety jest bardziej prawdopodobne niż kiedykolwiek,
że incydenty z Francji i Belgii mogą stać się rzeczywistością również
tutaj, a my, członkowie naszej rodziny lub znajomy może znaleźć się
w niewłaściwym miejscu w niewłaściwym czasie. W tych
okolicznościach kwestia naszej relacji z Bogiem jawi się z nową siła.
Dobrze byłoby, aby ponownie przeanalizować nasze życie
modlitewne, przeżywanie niedzieli, relację do bliźniego, itp., gdyż
w dziwny sposób coraz mniej czujemy, że panujemy nad własnym
życiem i otoczeniem. Siły zła czynią rozpaczliwe wysiłki, aby
pozbawić znaczenia nasze życie i wartości. Jest to zatem czas,
by wzmacniać kontrolę nad własnym życiem, wzmacniając naszą
katolicką tożsamość. Jedno jest zawsze jasne, że w chwili zagrożenia
całe narody jak i jednostki zwracają się do Boga.

w St. John Seminary w Bostonie
Uroczystość ta odbędzie sie dla uhonorowania ks. prałata James’a
Moroney nagrodą „Devotion Award” oraz dla podziękowania
Siostrom Felicjankom za ich 125 lat służby, gdyż Szkoła św. Józefa
była ich pierwszą placówką misyjna w Nowej Anglii.
Chociaż ks. prałat Moroney jest ściślle związany z Bostonem,
to jednak zawsze w jego sercu szczególne miejsce zajmowały nasze
dzieci. Dlatego zdecydował się przekazać wszystkie prezenty, które
otrzyma z okazji tej uroczystości na Richard A. Nowak Gymnasium
Fund.
Niektórzy z obecnych uczniów Szkoły św. Józefa będą również
uczestniczyć w tym wydarzeniu. Ponadto, prosimy, aby wszyscy
absolwenci, którzy byli kształczeni przez Siostry Felicjanki, wzięli
udział w tym szczególnym wieczorze, w duchu wdzięczności za
solidne i kompleksowe wykształcenie. Sukces tego wydarzenia oraz
środki pozyskane na rzecz budowy jest uzależniony nie tylko od
wsparcia przekazanego przez ks. prałata Moroney i grupy jego
przyjaciół z Bostonu, ale również od wsparcia ze strony naszych
rodziców i parafian
Dla chętnych do uczestnictwa w Gali będzi edostępny bezpłatny

Rozpoczęliśmy już zapisy na następny rok szkolny w Szkole św.
Józefa. Godziny otwarcia sekretariatu szkolnego w okresie
wakacyjnym: 8:00 – 13:00. Pytania prosimy kierować również na

spotkania z dyrektorem panem szkoły Michale Hackenson i
zapoznanie się z wyglądem i możliwościami szkoły.

Przypominamy, że w czasie trwania Roku Miłosierdzia w naszej
parafii jest możliwość przyjęcia do domu Tryptyku Bożego
Miłosierdzia. Jest to Wspaniała okazja do zbliżenia się do
Miłosiernego Jezusa wraz z ze swoją rodziną i bliskimi, i do bliższego
przeżycia z Nim swoich codziennych spraw, smutków i radości.
FESTIWAL PARAFIALNY W DUDLEY
Mamy przyjemność ogłosić, że w Parafii świętego Andrzeja Boboli
odbędzie się Big Top Polish Festival. Rozpoczęcie w piątek, 26
sierpnia o godz. 16:30 i zakończy w sobotę, 27 sierpnia, w południe.
Dwa dni rodzinnej zabawy: Chicken Bar-B-Que w sobotę, o
godzinie 12:30 (bilety dostępne w przedsprzedaży) polskie i
