BLESSING OF POPE ST. JOHN PAUL II STATUE
We are very appreciative to the Parishioners who
have donated funds to honor
Pope St. John Paul II by having a statue
commissioned to be erected here at
Our Lady of the Assumption Parish.
On Sunday, May 24th, at 3:oopm,
there will be a special Mass in the Auditorium
to be concelebrated by
Most Reverend Bishop William F. Murphy and
Most Reverend Bishop Andrzej Zglejszewski
in all three languages.
The blessing of the Statue will take place
immediately following the Mass.

OUTREACH PROGRAM

Exposition and adoration of the Blessed
Sacrament each Wednesday, from 6:00pm to
8:00pm. Silence and prayer spent in front of the
Blessed Sacrament is the best opportunity to
prepare ourselves to be open to the Lord's graces.
Because Christ himself is present in the sacrament
of the altar, He is to be honored with the worship of
adoration. “To visit the Blessed Sacrament is . . . a
proof of gratitude, an expression of love, and a duty
of adoration toward Christ our Lord” (Paul VI, MF
66).

Raffle Tickets
The Charity Drive raffle tickets will be sold following all
masses on the weekends of May 2nd & May 3rd, and May
16th & May 17th.
Mother’s Day Plant Sale
Annual Mother's Day Plant sale will take place following all
masses the weekend of May 9th and May 10th.
Parade
The 64th Annual Memorial Day Parade will be held on May
25th. The parade will kick off from the corner of Great Neck
Rd and Dixon Ave at 10:00AM. A memorial arrangement will
placed at the OLA Shrine at 9:00AM. Ceremony with prayers
will conclude at 9:30AM.

BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP
St.Mary’s Parish in East Islip is offering a free 8 week support
group for adults who are struggling to cope with the death of
a loved one. Registration is required for this group, which
begins on Wednesday, June 10th through August 12th, from
7:00-900PM. Refreshments will be served. For information
and/or registration, please call (631) 581-4266, Ext.100.
Please note the groups are open to people of all faith denominations. In order to participate in this group, the death
must have ocurred prior to March 10, 2015

Z niezależnej inicjatywy grupy Polaków z Long Island na terenie naszej parafii stanie pomnik
papieża św. Jana Pawła II. Składamy serdeczne
Bóg zapłać wszystkim, którzy poprzez złożone
donacje włączyli się w to dzieło.
Uroczystość poświęcenia pomnika z udziałem
ks. Biskupa William’a Murphy oraz ks. Biskupa Andrzeja Zglejszewskiego odbędzie się w niedzielę
24 maja 2015. Uroczysta Msza św. w trzech

W uchwale dotyczącej ogłoszenia roku 2015 Rokiem Św.
Jana Pawła II podkreślono ogromne zaangażowanie
papieża Polaka w proces odradzania się polskiej
niepodległości oraz w propagowanie uniwersalnego
przesłania o godności i prawach człowieka. Sejm chce,
by te wartości towarzyszyły działaniom podejmowanym
w ramach obchodów Roku Św. Jana Pawła II.
Kongres Polonii Amerykańskiej - Wydział Long
Island ogłasza konkurs literacki oraz rysunkowy
dla dzieci, młodzieży i dla dorosłych:
I. Konkurs dla dorosłych (18 lat + ...),
II. Konkurs dla młodzieży w wieku 12 – 17 lat,
III. Konkurs plastyczny dla dzieci w wieku 5 – 11 lat.
Tematy i formy prac, a także zasady ich nadsyłania i
dokładny adres można uzyskać w kancelarii parafialnej.

REMAIN IN MY LOVE!
During this week I spent several hours
cutting branches off a vine that grows wild every
spring. By the next day, the branches that had
fallen to the ground were all dried and withered.
I thought of the words of Jesus in today’s Gospel:
“Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own
unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you
unless you remain in me.
In this passage, Jesus also tells us “If you
keep my commandments, you will remain in my
love”. “I am the vine, you are the branches.”
And so, a timely reminder: The electronic
sign in front of the Firehouse on Great Neck Road
is advertising an event sponsored by the
Copiague Fire Department featuring a “medium”.
All faithful Catholics should be aware that,
according to the Catechism of the Catholic
Church, “all forms of divination should be
rejected:
recourse to Satan and demons,
conjuring up the dead . . .consulting horoscopes,
recourse to mediums . . . (# 2115-2117). These
are all forbidden by the first Commandment and
are objectively seriously sinful.
Please help to keep theses evils out of
Copiague. Instead, ask God to bless our peaceful
and thriving Community.
