Stewardship Note: St. Paul reminds us today that all of our
gifts have their source in the Holy Spirit and that those gifts are

PENTECOST SUNDAY

There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit.
- Corinthians 12:4
In today’s responsorial psalm the Church
sings out: “Lord, send out your Spirit, and
renew the face of the earth.” All three readings describe how God has answered that
prayer already. In the first reading from the
Acts of the Apostles and in the Gospel passages from John, we read of astonishing events
that called cowering disciples to step out of hiding and proclaim
news that would condemn them and change the world forever!
In the second reading Paul’s words reach out into the future to
us: “we were all given to drink of one Spirit”. It is our task to
truly pray today’s psalm response. Let us together beg the Holy
Spirit to renew the earth by renewing the Church, sending many
more men and women to serve in its various ministries.

MEMORIAL DAY
On Monday, May 28, the nation will observe Memorial Day.
This day is not a time for celebration, but rather, a solemn day
of commemoration; a day set aside to honor the memory of our
dead, especially our service men and women who paid the Supreme Sacrifice defending the freedoms that we all enjoy.
The Veterans will arrive at St. Joseph Garden of Peace at
9:55am and the faithful are requested to assemble at the cross a
few minutes prior to that time to welcome them and begin the
brief prayer service.
FIRST FRIDAY
First Friday adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will take
place after the 7:00am mass on June 1st and continue throughout the day concluding at 3:00pm with the Chaplet to the Divine Mercy followed by benediction. Adorers are asked to attend at their scheduled time. A Mass will also be celebrated at
7:00pm in the Polish language.
Please note: All members and parishioners are cordially invited to join us at the 7:00am Mass which is designated for the
living or deceased members of the Sacred Heart Society.
CATHOLIC COMMUNICATIONS CAMPAIGN
We are living in a society which is media oriented. On a daily
basis we see the influence of television, newspapers and radio.
As Bishop McManus noted, some people can only be reached
through the internet, e-mail and other forms of social media.
The Holy Father says that the Catholic Church must embrace
all forms of social communications to carry on her mission and
to assist her members in being active participants. Our Catholic
community—Diocese of Worcester—cannot be indifferent to
these innovative and modern means of communication to reach
all the people. Unfortunately all of this needs material resources. We gratefully appreciate your support for this evangelization effort for next weekends collection.

PARISH CENTER
A parish church is usually connected with a gathering facility
to foster the spirit of solidarity and community. People enjoy
camaraderie on various occasions, such as holydays and holidays. They also need to participate in organizational meetings,
fund raising, dinners, cultural activities, etc.
When the new St. Joseph Church was constructed in 1914,
under the leadership of the late Msgr. Anthony Cyran, the lack
of financial resources and other priorities, such as the convent
and school did not allow them to build a parish center. It was
decided that the old wooden church would become the parish
center, however, it was destroyed by fire. Later on when the
school was built in 1924, the basement small cafeteria assumed
the role of a quasi parish center. There was a lot of talk in succeeding years about the need for an appropriate facility to accommodate numerous parish functions, but the plans did not
materialize. Since Msgr. Cyran’s time, society has advanced in
various ways and forms. Today across this land even the small,
rural parishes have a comfortable, inviting and suitable parish
facility to host activities and promote a sense of community.
At the present time with the successful fundraising for the
Gym, we now have the opportunity to build a parish center connected with the gym. We will present the concept of our plans
to parishioners on Sat., June 9th after 4:00pm Mass in the
school cafeteria. It is important and necessary to form a Parish
Center Committee to effectively promote this long time overdue project and we invite all parishioners to attend.
PARTNERS IN CHARITY UPDATE
As of May 21st, your gifts and pledges have totaled $23,471.
Another $1,529 is needed. If you have not given, please consider a gift so that we can reach our goal of $25,000. Every gift
brings us closer to our goal.
We will hold an in-pew-collection on June 2 & 3. If you
would like to help us reach our goal with an added donation,
please use the Partners in Charity envelope (white & blue) in
the pews and drop it into the collection basket during the first

FESTIVAL NEWS
Alumni Mass and Reception - On Sun., June 17 at 9:30am
Mass will be celebrated at the Basilica, followed by a reception
in the school. Invitations with a response card were mailed to
about 800 alumni who are not parishioners. Former teachers,
including Felician Sisters will be attending. Please notify the
rectory if you wish to attend.
Garage Sale Drop Off - items may be dropped off on Sat.,
June 2 from 8-11:00am. Additional times will be scheduled
and posted in upcoming bulletins. We will accept used or new
books, household items, toys and small furniture pieces.

3-5 Grade Youth Group Ice Cream Social-Youths in grades
3-5 are invited to an ice cream social and board game event at
the Youth Center on Wed., May 30th from 3:30-5:15pm. The
Youth Center is in the basement of the Emmaus Center and
Chapel of Perpetual Adoration on East Main Street. Since the
children will be younger, Mrs. Valcour will need some parents

Farewell Message—Director of Religious Education
“My husband I are moving to Texas where he has taken a
new job. With sadness in my heart, I will no longer be a
part of our parish life and Director of Religious Education. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to you for allowing me to serve you and your families. I have met
many Disciples here in our parish. Disciples are people
who put their lives at the service of others. They live in
order to give and not take. They are willing to suffer so
others may rejoice. They do everything because they
simply love Jesus. Disciples—the strong Catholic families faithfully in Church; the struggling families; cooks
for school and parish events, Church cleaners; teachers,
prayerful people constantly and silently praying for our
parishioners; and a parishioner who simply held open the
Church door at funerals. When asked why he did this, his
response was, ‘It is what I can do for Jesus because I love
Him and this is my Church.’ Thank you for showing me
your ways of being a Disciple of Jesus and all your kindness. I pray for the Holy Spirit and St. Joseph to help you
grow in your faith and to truly love Jesus through prayer,
receiving the Sacraments especially the Eucharist and
living His commandments. Thank You.

KRONIKA PARAFIALNA
NIEDZIELA ZASŁANIA DUCHA ŚWIĘTEGO

"Różne są dary łaski, lecz ten sam Duch." (Kor 12, 4)
Wszyscy zrozumieli przesłanie Apostołów, obcy i przybysze, ponieważ przemówili oni ludzkim językiem, budząc tęsknotę ukrytą w sercu człowieka. Nie potrzeba
więcej, jak tylko odkryć, że Bóg kocha, i
odpowiedzieć na tę miłość. Cud, który się
dokonał w dniu zesłania Ducha Świętego,
polegał na tym, że każdy usłyszał w swoim sercu głos
samego Boga. W tym Głosie ma źródło tajemnica jedności. Upragniony przez wszystkich pokój będzie możliwy,
gdy odwołamy się do naszego serca i przemówimy do
siebie ludzkim językiem.
MEMORIAL DAY
W poniedziałek 28 maja będziemy obchodzili Memorial
Day. Przeżyjmy go tak, aby nie był to dla nas jedynie czas
świętowania, ale również i wdzięcznej pamięci o tych,
którzy złożyli najwyższą ofiarę w obronie wolności, którą
my dziś możemy się cieszyć.
Dla upamiętnienia bohaterów zapraszamy wszystkich
na cmentarz parafialny na godzinę 9:55 aby wraz z weteranami połączyć się w krótkiej modlitwie za wszystkich
poległych w obronie wolności.
ADORACJA PIERWSZOPIĄTKOWA
Na Pierwszopiątkowa Adorację Najświętszego Sakramentu zapraszamy 1 czerwca po Mszy o godz. 7:00. Adoracja potrwa do 15:00, i zostanie zakończona wspólną
koronka do Miłosierdzia Bożego. Wszystkie grupy parafialne proszone są o uczestnictwo w adoracji według ustalonego harmonogramu. Tradycyjnie Msza w języku polskim będzie odprawiona o godz. 19:00. Pól godziny przed
Mszą możliwość spowiedzi.
CATHOLIC COMMUNICATIONS CAMPAIGN
Żyjemy w społeczeństwie, które jest pod dużym wpływem mediów. Na co dzień możemy odczuć oddziaływanie telewizji, gazet i radia. Biskup McManus mówi, że
niektórzy ludzie mogą być osiągalni jedynie za pośrednictwem Internetu, emaili i innych form mediów społecznych. Ojciec Święty zaś wspomina, że Kościół Katolicki
musi obejmować wszystkie formy komunikacji społecznej w prowadzeniu swej misji oraz w pomoc wiernym w
byciu aktywnymi uczestnikami życie religijnego. Nasza
Diecezja, chcąc dotrzeć do wszystkich ludzi, nie może
pozostać obojętna wobec tych innowacyjnych środków
komunikacji. Niestety zaangażowanie nowoczesnych metod komunikacji wymaga nakładu środków materialnych.
Zachęcamy zatem, do wsparcia tej formy dzieła ewangelizacji poprzez datki, które będą zbierana w następną niedzielę. Bóg zapłać.
PARTNERS IN CHARITY
Z radością informujemy, że wszystkie jak dotąd zebrane
ofiary wynoszą 23471 dolarów. Tych którzy jeszcze nie
przyłączyli się do tej diecezjalnej akcji charytatywnej,
zachęcamy do wsparcia dzieł, które pomogą realizować
jedno z podstawowych zadań, jakie spoczywają na
uczniach Chrystusa, jakim jest służba potrzebującym.

CENTRUM PARAFIALNE
W wielu parafiach oddawanie czci Bogu jest połączone
jednocześnie z możliwością różnorodnych spotkań, które
pozwalają umacniać ducha wspólnotowego. Ludzie
korzystają z ośrodków parafialnych przy różnych okazjach, takich jak kolacje, spotkania organizacyjne, pozyskiwanie funduszy, itp. Dla wielu stało się tradycją, że
Boże Narodzenie, Święto Dziękczynienia i Wielkanoc
świętują właśnie w takich miejscach wraz z innymi
parafianami.
Gdy w naszej parafii był budowany nowy kościół pod
kierownictwem ks. Antoniego Cyrana w 1912 roku,
parafianie nie mieli wystarczająco dużo środków na budowę centrum parafialnego. Centrum parafialne musiało
ustąpić pierwszeństwa ważniejszym budynkom takim jak
szkoła czy konwent. Za centrum parafialne musiała wystarczyć stołówka. Poprzez te lata konieczność powstania
prawdziwego centrum parafialnego ciągle funkcjonowała,
ale nigdy nie udało się tych planów urzeczywistnić. Przy
okazji realizacji budowy sali gimnastycznej jest możliwość stworzenia również centrum parafialnego. Plany
realizacji tego przedsięwzięcia zostaną przedstawione
parafianom w niedzielę 3 czerwca po Nabożeństwie do
Miłosierdzia Bożego w szkolnej kafeterii.

19:00 w kościele Sacred Heart wraz z rodzicami lub
świadkami. Spowiedź w środę 6 czerwca o 18:00 w

Msza i spotkanie dla absolwentów - W niedzielę 17
czerwca po Mszy św. po godzinie 9:30 zapraszamy na

Kościołowi, zmagające się z problemami, kucharze dla szkolnych i parafialnych imprez, sprzątający kościół, nauczyciele, pobożni ludzie ciągle modlący się w ciszy za parafian i parafię, ci którzy troszczą się o pomoc na pogrzebach. Na
