Stewardship Note: Today’s readings are about being chosen
and sent. The prophet Amos was chosen by the Lord and sent
to use his talents for the people of God. The Gospel recounts
the story of the sending of the twelve. In the second reading,
St. Paul reminds us that we, too, are chosen. For what have I
been chosen? To whom have I been sent?
15 lipiec 2012r.
Word of Life-Blessed Pope John Paul II discussed radical secularism almost two decades ago when he visited
Baltimore and stated. “The challenge facing you, dear
friends, is to increase people’s awareness of the importance for society of religious freedom; to defend that freedom against those who would take religion out of the
public domain and establish secularism as America’s official faith. . . .And it is vitally necessary, for the very survival of the American experience, to transmit to the next
generation the precious legacy of religious freedom and
the convictions which sustain it.”
FIFTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
July 15, 2012
Truth shall spring out of the earth, and justice shall look
down from heaven.
—
Psalm 85:12
GOD CHOSE US
Who chose first, God or you? That is the question explored in today’s three readings. The second reading,
from Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians, reads almost like a
hymn. It praises God for choosing us, for calling us to
serve, and for blessing us in our service. Paul makes it
clear how honored we are and how special is the call to
live as children of God. This is through no doing of our
own.
The first reading and the Gospel use prose rather than
poetry to describe the same truth: God did the choosing,
not us. When the prophet Amos was berated for being a
prophet, he retorted that the whole thing wasn’t his idea in
the first place. Neither did the twelve apostles in today’s
Gospel ask for their calling. Jesus sent them forth, two by
two, to do the work of his kingdom.
ST. ANNE NINE DAY NOVENA
We invite you to join us for the Novena to St. Anne
which will begin at our Basilica on Wed., July 18 after
6:30am Mass and continue at that same time every morning until July 26. We urge you to make time in your summer calendar to take part in this powerful form of prayer.
The St. Anne Society was organized at St. Joseph Parish in 1926 and throughout this time has promoted devotion to God through the intercession of St. Anne, the patroness of grandmothers. This society has attracted a large
number of ladies who pray for their children and grandchildren and support many parish projects and provide
their members with a community of friendship and a family of belonging.
If you are interested in joining this membership, please
call President, Gen Lariviere at (508) 943-1781.

PARISH CENTER
The results of the final voting for the Parish Center
indicated overwhelmingly the need for this new facility. I appreciate your opinion—pro and con—of those
who returned their signed ballot. Before any decision
is made the project will be evaluated once again by
the architects and contractors to determine the exact
cost. At the same time we will explore the feasibility
of an endowment for operational expenses.

KRONIKA PARAFIALNA
PIĘTNASTA NIEDZIELA ZWYKŁA
15 lipca 2012
Bóg „wybrał nas dla siebie, abyśmy byli święci
i nieskalani przed Jego obliczem. Z miłości przeznaczył
nas dla siebie jako przybranych synów przez Jezusa
Chrystusa”. To, że jesteśmy przez Boga powołani, nie
oznacza prostego wymogu wypełniania określonych
obowiązków, lecz jest zaproszeniem do nawiązania
bliskiej, osobowej relacji z Nim. Bóg kocha człowieka,
na krzyżu i w Eucharystii daje mu całego siebie
i oczekuje wzajemności. Odpowiadając miłością na
miłość, naśladujemy Chrystusa w Jego posłuszeństwie
wobec Ojca i w ten sposób wypełniamy Boży zamysł
wobec nas.
CENTRUM PARAFIALNE
sprawie. Przed podjęciem decyzji projekt będzie
ponownie rozpatrzony przez architektów i pracowników
budowlanych w celu określenia dokładnych kosztów.
