The eyes of all look hopefully to you, and you give them their
food in due season.
—Psalm 145:15
ONE LORD, ONE FAITH
Do you suppose the authors of the four Gospels were aware
of today’s first reading from the second book of Kings? Of
course they were. The prophet Elisha fed a hundred men with
twenty barley loaves in order to prove God’s power. This same
miracle, now multiplied by more people fed by fewer loaves, is
attributed to Jesus in all four Gospels. In today’s passage from
John we even have the detail that the loaves were barley, reminding every pious Jew of the miracle that Elisha worked.
Yet Jesus went into hiding when they wanted to make him king.
It is the passage from Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians that gives
us the reason for this. The power of Jesus comes from God. It
is not meant merely to feed us, or to provide one group with a
king. There is one Lord, one faith, one God and Father of all
who works through Jesus Christ and through us all.
This week’s second collection is for all remaining envelopes in
your packet.
Next weekend’s second collection is designated for Diocesan
Obligations.
ST. ANNE SOCIETY ANNUAL COMMUNION MASS
We welcome the members of the St. Anne Society to our Basilica on Sunday, July 29th at the 8:15am Mass. A complimentary breakfast will follow for members and parishioners in the
school cafeteria.
When the angel appeared to St. Anne announcing that she
would bear a child, she replied “as Lord my God lives if I beget
either male or female I will bring it as a gift to the Lord my
God; and it shall minister to Him all the days of its life.” When
Mary was a few years old, her mother - St. Anne - brought her
to the temple where she was introduced to the Bible and formed
her faith. Since St. Anne is a patroness of the month of July in
our Jubilee Calendar, she sets a great example how to give back
to God for all His blessings.
On the festivity of St. Anne, I wish all the members of the
society of our parish, to promote this special spirituality of trust
in God and selflessly serve one another.

FIRST FRIDAY
First Friday adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will
take place after the 7:00am Mass on August 3 and continue throughout the day, concluding at 3:00pm with the
Chaplet to the Divine Mercy followed by benediction.
Adorers are asked to attend at their scheduled time. A
Mass will also be celebrated at 7:00pm in the Polish.
Please note: All members and parishioners are cordially invited to join us at 7:00am Mass which is designated for the living members of the Sacred Heart Society.
JUBILEE YEAR
The Jubilee festivity is associated with profound gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve Him and one another for over 125 years in an organized community of
faith. It is a time for reflective memories, personal and
corporate assessment and joyful celebration. It is customary on such an occasion that people feel inspired and motivated to perform extra-ordinary deeds, such as, participating in devotional services, retreats, missions, novenas,
endow the church, or perpetuate your name or of a loved
one in the décor of our Basilica.
Since the Jubilee Celebration began with the unveiling
of the Blessed John Paul II statue last September, we
honored a saint each month who played an important role
in the patrimony of our parish, we welcomed alumni to a
homecoming brunch, invited special guests (Sr. Marie
Simone and Sr. Marie Thomas from France) to share their
remarkable lives, held fundraisers and raffles, sponsored
soup kitchens and suppers, retreats and concerts, etc. We
completed the landscaping in front of the Church, with
lights to be installed in the next couple of weeks. We are
concentrating our efforts on an outdoor sign and renovation of Our Lady of Czestochowa Chapel.
We are most grateful for a generous donation of
$2000 from the Family of Bessie Tremblay for renovation of Our Lady of Czestochowa Chapel. This is a beautiful expression of gratitude to God by Bessie’s children
and the continuation of her devotional life and support for
the Blessed Mother Chapel. The Chapel needs to be repainted, marble must be cleaned, new spotlights will be
installed and a crystal chandelier will be added.
A three-dimensional frame, which was donated by
Ralph and Theresa Paglione and AnneMarie Poulin will
be included in this upgrade.
JUBILEE COMMITTEE UPDATE
The Jubilee Committee members will be selling TOTE
BAGS after all Masses this weekend. These attractive all
purpose canvas bags with the Basilica and School Logo
are priced at $15 each or 2 for $28.

weekend Masses or are available at the rectory. You

after the 8:15 and 9:30am Masses on Sunday, Jul. 29.
MEMORIAL ORGAN CONCERT
The Holy Rosary Society-will be sponsoring a Memorial
Organ Concert at 3:00pm on Sunday, Sept. 23 as part of

St. Joseph School is still accepting applications for

St. Joseph School awarded scholarships to current students as well as $500 scholarships for the new students

PREVENTING CHILD ABUSE IS EVERYONE’S
RESPONSIBILITY
It is every adult’s moral responsibility to protect the children
from becoming possible victims by reporting the suspected
abuse or neglect to the responsible authorities. Sexual abuse of
minors is a pervasive societal problem, and only concerted and
sustained efforts by all adults in every segment of society can
help to protect children and youth. For particular help you may

RESOURCES FROM USCCB
The Diocese of Worcester Respect of Life Office’s efforts for
the protection of religious freedom are on-going and necessary.
To help teach about these issues the United States Conference
of Catholic Bishops has developed sets of one-pagers to educate
our parishioners on these important subjects. (Please refer to
the flyer at the entrances to the Basilica).
In the weeks ahead we will keep you posted of developments, especially those related to religious liberty and the upcoming ballot question on physician-assisted suicide.
CATHOLIC YOUTH GROUP
The Webster Youth Group will perform the family comedy
play “Help! I’m Trapped in a High School” on Friday, Aug. 10
at 7:00pm and Sun., Aug. 12 at 2:00pm. The shows will be
performed at the Immaculate Conception Spiritual Renewal
center at 600 Liberty Highway (Rte 12) Putnam, CT. Tickets
will be sold at the door-$5 (free for children 5 & under). Please

KRONIKA PARAFIALNA
JEDEN PAN, JEDNA WIARA. Czy możemy założyć,
że autorzy Ewangelii byli zaznajomieni z dzisiejszym
czytaniem z Drugiej Księgi Królewskiej? Oczywiście.
Prorok Eliasz nakarmił 100 osób dwudziestoma
bochenkami chleba, aby udowodnić Bożą moc.
Podobnego cudu, opisanego w czterech Ewangeliach
dokonał Jezus, z tym, że nakarmił znacznie więcej ludzi
jeszcze mniejszą ilością chleba. Po dokonianiu cudu, gdy
Jezusa chciano zrobić królem, ukrył się. Z Listu św.
Pawła dowiadujemy się dlaczego. Moc Jezusa pochodzi
od Boga i nie powinna być wykorzystana tylko do
zaspakajania codziennych potrzeb. Dlatego jest jeden Pan
i jedna wiara, jeden Bóg i ojciec wszystkich, który działa
przez Jezusa Chrystusa i nas wszytkich.
PIERWSZY PIĄTEK. Adoracja Najświętszego
Sakramentu rozpocznie się 3 sierpnia po Mszy św. o 7
rano, a zakończy o 3 po południu odmówieniem Koronki
do Miłosierdzia Bożego.
Prosimy osoby wyznaczone do adoracji o punktualne
przybycie. Poranna Msza św. odprawiona będzie w
imieniu żyjących członków Sacred Heart Society.
Wieczorem o 7-ej zapraszamy na Msze sw. w j. polskim.
SZKOŁA SW. JÓZEFA. Nadal przyjmujemy zapisy do
wszytkich klas łącznie z przedszkolem już od 3 roku
życia. Dla nowych uczniów w klasach od 0-8 mamy

JUBILEUSZ. Uroczystości jubileuszowe w naszej
parafii sa związane z wdzięcznością Bogu za możliwość
służenia Jemu i bliźnim przez ostanie 125 lat. Jest to czas
wspomnień, zastanowienia się i radości. Bardzo często
przy takiej okazji wierni czują motywację do dokonania
czegoś znaczącego, jak częstsze uczestnictwo w
nabożeństwach, rekolekcjach, misjach,
wzmożoną ofiarnością i wiecznym upamiętnianiem
nieżyjących członków rodziny przez umieszczanie ich
imion w Bazylice.
Nasze uroczystości rozpoczęliśmy odsłonięciem pominka
Jana Pawła II i od tego czasu każdego miesiąc
poświęcaliśmy świętym, którzy mieli szczególne
znaczenie w rozwoju naszej parafii. Zapraszaliśmy
różnych gości łącznie z Siostrą Marie Simone, która była
uzdrowiona przez Ojca św., którzy dawali świadectwo
swojego życia, zorganizowaliśmy zjazd absolwentów
szkoły, sponsorowaliśmy obiady dla ubogich, rekolekcje i
koncerty.
Zakończyliśmy też prace przy schodach do Bazyliki.
Światła przyjdą za jakieś dwa tygodnie. Teraz prace
skupimy na restauracji kaplicy M.B. Częstochowskiej
oraz przygotowaniu tablicy informacyjnej na zewnątrz
kościoła.
Jestem wdzięczny za ofiarę $2000 od rodziny pani Bessie
Tremblay właśnie na odnowe kaplicy. Jest to piękny
wyraz wdzięczności Bogu złożony przez dzieci Bessie, a
jednocześnie kontynuacja spuścizny jej życia, które
dedykowała Matce Najświętszej. Kaplica musi być
odmalowana,
trzeba
wyczyścić
marmury
oraz
zainstalować nowe światła i kryształowy żyrandol.
Zamontujmey również trójwymiarową ramę ofiarowaną
przez Ralfa i Teresę Paglione oraz AnneMarie Poulin.
KOMITET JUBILEUSZOWY po wszystkich Mszach
św. będzie sprzedawał torby pamiątkowe po $15 (lub $28
za dwie) oraz losy na loterię w cenie $10. Do wygrania są
atrakcyjne nagrody, a losowanie będzie 23 września po
koncercie organowym.
