SHARING OUR BLESSINGS - April 28, 2013
Weekly $5000. 27 (including $284.27 in loose money)
Diocesan Obligations $105; Educational Excellence $50;
Fuel $236;
Weekly Budget $7000
Stewardship Note: “It is the decision of the Holy Spirit, and
ours too, not to lay on you any burden beyond that which is
strictly necessary.” The Jewish tradition was one filled with
ritual observances. Christian stewardship is not a call to a burdensome life of rules. It is a call to a life of freedom through
the joyful sharing of one’s gifts from God.
SIXTH SUNDAY AFTER EASTER
May 5, 2013
May the peoples praise you, O God;
may all the peoples praise you! - Psalm 67:6
THE WORKINGS OF THE SPIRIT
Anyone who has seen a loved one off to a
new adventure knows how difficult it is to rejoice, even when we are reasonably optimistic
about their future. So, we can imagine how
difficult it must have been for the disciples to
rejoice in Jesus’ announced departure. Today’s
Gospel is part of Jesus’ Last Supper discourse, recorded only
by John. Jesus announces shocking news. He must go to the
Father, and they should rejoice in this. To help them through
this, Jesus gives his disciples his give of peace and promises an
Advocate.
From our privileged position in history, we can see that all
that Jesus promises comes to pass. The Church has grown and
still exists on this earth because of the abiding Spirit. But living by the Spirit and entering into the peace of Christ is no
small task. Jesus doesn’t promise the apostles a rose garden.
He is realistic about the costs of discipleship. And, mercifully,
he is also clear about its rewards.
This weekends second collection is for Diocesan Obligations.
Next weekends second collection is designated
for Higher Utility and Energy Costs.
FIRST EUCHARIST
Today at 12:30pm Liturgy, students of the St. Joseph School
second grade together with the Religious Education class will
receive the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. Congratulations
to: Lily Abbott, Shawn Beicke, Charles Belsito, Savannah Belsito, Christopher Best, Dominika Chmielewski, Mateusz Chojnicki, Benjamin Duquette, Daniel Durda, Patrick Mahlert,
Jonathan Malesky, Olivia Montione, Tomasz Pater, Daria Piwowarczyk, Casey Rekowski, Natalia Rucinski, Ariana Sacco,
Kaileigh Strong, Natalia Sudyka, Wiktoria Ucher, Jadyn Williams and Julia Zdrok.
May all these children continue to grow in Christ’s love
through receiving Him frequently in the Holy Eucharist.
DIVINE MERCY DEVOTIONS
This Sunday is the first Sunday of the month, therefore we
have the devotion to the Divine Mercy. At 3:00pm services
will be held praying the chaplet followed by Benediction. We
are all in dire need of God’s goodness, love and mercy. Please
make a special effort to join us for this special devotion asking
our Lord for his graces in our lives.
Page 3
MAY DEVOTIONS
May devotions will be held at 7:00pm on a daily basis—on
Sunday after 11:00am Mass.
NOVENA & DEVOTIONS TO ST. JOSEPH
Devotion to St. Joseph will be held after the 5:00pm Vigil
Mass on Wednesday, May 8th. NOTE CHANGE OF TIME
BECAUSE OF FEAST OF THE ASCENSION. The Holy
Rosary Sodality is invited to take part in the procession with the
Statue of St. Joseph from the Our Lady of Czestochowa Chapel
to the sanctuary. We invite parishioners to join us and also
write their intentions to be offered during Mass. Intention request cards are available in the Chapel. Please designate if you
wish your intentions to be read publicly or known only to the
celebrant during the Novena. Note: please print your intentions legibly and place in the box provided. This Novena coincides with May devotions. May I ask all parishioners and
friends to take advantage of this opportunity to receive graces
through the intercession of our powerful Patron, St. Joseph.
MOTHER’S DAY
Next Sunday, May 12th is Mother’s Day. On this special day
Masses will be offered for mothers living and deceased and for
the intentions you submitted in your remembrance envelopes.
A mother plays a unique role in the life of her children. Let us
remember our mothers with a prayer on this day for the love
and sacrifices they made on our behalf.
Monsignor Czarnecki will offer a Mass for the intention of
all Mothers of our Parish and of Saint Joseph School on
Wednesday, May 15th at 7:00pm during the Novena and Devotions to Saint Joseph.

ENROLLMENT TO ST. JOSEPH SCHOOL

to send 3 year olds for 2 days —4 year olds for 3 or 5 days.
This program is designed for every level of students maturity to
grow socially, emotionally and intellectually. An inviting and
friendly environment, professional teachers and support personnel create an ideal atmosphere for a child to grow and develop.
The school has open enrollment for all the grades, however
our Pre-K program is filling quickly. If you are considering
enrolling your child, we urge you to register as soon as possible. Special priority is given to children who have siblings attending St. Joseph School.
For information please call Principal, Mr. Donald Cushing at
(508) 943-0378 or the rectory (508) 943-0467.
ST. JOSEPH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP
For your information - we are pleased to share great news
with our community that we have scholarships available for
new students entering grades K - 8 in the fall of 2013. New
families with prospective students for grades K-8 will receive a
$1000 scholarship for the first child and $500 for the second
child from the same family.
In addition to our low tuition, this scholarship will be a great
help to families to provide their children with a superior education. To qualify for this scholarship please register your child
to St. Joseph School as soon as possible because the funds are
limited and will be awarded on a first come first serve basis.
AUCTION THANK YOU
To all who attended and supported the St. Joseph School
Annual Auction this past Saturday. It was a great night, outstanding food, comprehensive agenda (wine/beer tasting, dinner, silent auction, Chinese auction, 50/50 raffle and door
prizes)—well done by all under the leadership of the Home
School Association.
SPECIAL PERSONS DAY
On Thursday, May 9 (Feast of the Ascension) we will celebrate Special Persons Day at St. Joseph School. Our students
have invited special people in their lives to attend Mass at
9:30am. Following Mass our guests will be offered a tour of
our school, a student led presentation, a power point presentation of the school year and be treated to lunch in our cafeteria.
Our students are looking forward to this unique day of sharing
time with their loved ones.
PARTNERS IN CHARITY
We are continuing our Partners in Charity Appeal. If you
have not as yet made a gift to help various charitable, educational and ministerial missions of our Diocese now would be an
opportune time to do so. You will be assisting families in crises
and also helping our parish to complete our campaign as soon
as possible.
Thank you to all who have already supported this effort.
Betty Sabaj & Carolyn Swierzbin, Co-chairpersons

SHARED BLESSINGS
I would like to thank Mrs. Sylvia Kitka, Secretary of Parish
Council, and tireless Basilica volunteer for her presentation last
weekend of our income and expenses. She suggested that if
everyone would increase their donation by $5 we would have
an additional $1500 on a weekly basis & $6000 on a monthly
basis which would cover the Diocesan Obligations.
The Parish Council and Finance Board continue to search for
means of savings, eg., in the Church we will display
architectural spotlights only on special occasions. It was
difficult to lower the heat in March and April which would
affect the comfort of our parishioners. As of May 1st the heat
is shut off.
Once again I am grateful to all who are able to make
sacrificial offerings in order that all of us can share the
blessings of our own Saint Joseph Parish Family.
POPE JOHN PAUL II FOUNDATION
On Sunday, May 19th at 11:00am Mass we will introduce the
relics of John Paul II to our Basilica family. The relics were
presented to Msgr. Czarnecki by Cardinal Dziwisz during the
clergy convention in Pittsburg, PA a couple of weeks ago. This
ceremony coincides with Pope John Paul II’s birthday on May
19th and our Forty Hour devotions. The Executive Board and
some of the members of the John Paul II Foundation will be in
attendance at this Mass.
Considering the imminent
canonization of Blessed John Paul II, we invite parishioners to
join our local chapter of the JP Foundation of New England to
promote the visibility and teaching of our beloved John Paul II.

A meeting of the St. Joseph Polish Women’s Club Executive
Board will take place on May 7th at 6:30pm in the school

KRONIKA PARAFIALNA
SZÓSTA NIEDZIELA WIELKANOCNA
5 maja 2013
„Niech Ciebie, Boże wysławiają ludy,
niech wszystkie narody dają Ci chwałę!” (Ps 67, 6)
Uzależnianie zbawienia od obrzezania czy
innych pobożnych rytuałów jest wielką
zarozumiałością człowieka, któremu wydaje
się, że już „złapał Pana Boga za nogi”, że jest
jedynym
depozytariuszem
Objawienia
i wyrazicielem Jego woli.
zachowaniu Jego nauki.
Dzisiejsza druga kolekta jest przeznaczona
na Zobowiązania Diecezjalne
