LAVISH FORGIVENESS
Moses appeals to God for compassion in
today’s first reading. The point of Moses’
pleas is not to provide a blueprint for pacifying
an angry God, but to demonstrate that no matter our sin and its grievousness, God will always forgive.
In his Letter to Timothy, Paul uses himself, the great sinner,
as an example of just how great is God’s forgiveness. Finally,
today’s Gospel parables create a mural of God’s forgiving love.
Like a diligent housekeeper, a good shepherd, a loving father,
God goes out of the way to recover the lost and to forgive. By
pointing out that the woman leaves her nine silver pieces, that
the shepherd leaves his ninety-nine sheep waiting, and the father leaves his elder son upset, Jesus urges us to abandon a
stingy view of life. If God can be so generous, so forgiving
and so loving to those deemed unworthy, we must act likewise.
The second collection this week is for our CCD Program
to provide religious materials for
our Religious Education students.
The second collection for next weekend is designated for
the Catholic League for Religious Assistance to Poland
and Polonia (Liga Katolicka). Special envelopes are available at the entrances to the Basilica.
CEMETERY
Since last Tuesday we have been working at the cemetery to
install a new water system. The water line will basically be
placed in the same area. We have to relocate the water meter
and buy a new one from the Town of Webster. Obviously all
this takes time, but we are hoping that for your convenience
water will be available by Friday, Sep. 20th.
The old pipes were corroded which caused many break downs
and were extremely too costly to repair.
Once the installation is complete we will repave the roads and
fix the pot holes. Thank you for your patience during this very
trying time.

NOVENA AND DEVOTION TO SAINT JOSEPH
On Wednesday, Sept. 18th at 7:00pm we ask parishioners and
friends to join us for the Novena and Devotion to St. Joseph. Members
of the Saint Joseph Polish Women’s Club will carry our patron’s statue
from the Chapel of our Lady of Czestochowa to the Sanctuary.
There is so much literature on St. Joseph and testimony from many
people who received blessings through his intercession. Please familiarize yourself with some of this material by visiting a catholic book
store or through the internet.
We are grateful for the graces requested and offerings you submit in
the petition box. As you probably noticed the 7:00pm mass on
Wednesday is offered for all the intentions you expressed on the written form.

The Knights of Columbus is the largest Catholic organization in the
U.S. with 1.6 million members. There are 1,500 councils in various
states—$167.5 million given to charities–70 million hours of charitable services—the organization has risen to a high significance in the
Vatican—anytime the Supreme Knight travels to Rome he is always
accepted by the Holy Father. In this country the organization carries a
lot of political clout.
Anyone who is a practicing Catholic and a person of integrity and
good will could become a member. The organization is also well
known for promoting Catholic education and actively defending Catholicism in various countries. We encourage those who would like to
join to contact the rectory as soon as possible. The introduction of the
First Degree will be scheduled in the fall. We are grateful to those
who have already submitted their applications to be members.
REMINDER: You still have time to purchase tickets for the
Knights of Columbus September 50/50 drawing after all Masses this
weekend. One ticket ($5) or three tickets for ($10). Previous payouts
have been averaging over $1,000.
DEVOTIONAL LIFE (cont’d)
How can we develop quality devotional time with our Lord? It is
through obedience. We must be ready to serve God rather than our
needs, even before we know what the call may be and take this mindset into life and to others. In improving our devotional venture the
challenge is simple, the idea is pure and practical and it only requires
your obedience and persistence. God desires our intimacy, our relationship and our communion with His holiness. An abundant Christian life with real meaning and purpose can be had and held! Divine
worship every Sunday and other para-liturgical devotion helps us to
foster our private devotional life.
2013-2104 APPEAL FOR CATHOLIC SCHOOLS
The Diocese of Worcester will conduct their 2013-2014 Appeal for
Catholic Schools on the weekend of Sept. 28-29. We all agree that a
Catholic education is a critical part of the future of the Church and
parishes are the gateway to the Diocese’s faithful. For this reason we
ask for your prayers and partnership of assistance for the 7500 students
enrolled in Catholic Schools in our Diocese.
HELP-St. Joseph School - is looking for volunteers to assist in the
cafeteria and in the office. If you have some spare time during the
week we would appreciate your help. Please contact the school office
for more information.
SCHOOL NEWS
The beginning of the new school year at Saint Joseph is associated
with great pageantry and a variety of social and religious functions.
On Thurs., Sept. 5th , Msgr. Czarnecki treated our students and
faculty to a cookout on school grounds. We are grateful for the assistance of Mr. Clem Starosta, many teachers and parents who helped to
serve the children and made this an enjoyable bonding experience.
On Sun., Sept. 8th, students with their parents and grandparents
participated in the 9:30am Liturgy together with teachers. The faculty
took the “Oath of Fidelity” and together with the children prayed for a
successful year. Msgr. Czarnecki welcomed the students and parents
and said that we are in a historical year of expanding the St. Joseph
School with a new gym, kitchen, cafeteria, but we are also called to
broaden our minds with the knowledge and ability to be translated into
the wisdom of life. He also called for us to expand our hearts through
faithful participation in Divine Worship and hospitality and service to
one another .
After Mass all the family members and faculty gathered at the Webster Memorial Beach where the children had ample space to run and
play and share good food prepared by the Home School Association
under the leadership of Heidi Iozzo. We were blessed with beautiful
sunny weather which added much to the enjoyment of the day.
Prayer Service commemorating September 11, 2001 - On
Wednesday, Sept. 11th all students, faculty and parents gathered at
our Basilica to reflect back on the events of twelve years ago. The
service consisted of readings from Scripture, poems, and praying the
words of Pope Benedict when he was in New York.
The World Trade Center whose construction began in 1966 was
designed to be a paradigm of the American dream. It was the symbol
of man’s dedication to world peace and man’s belief in humanity in his
dignity, cooperation and ability to achieve greatness. Evil minded
individuals destroyed the buildings, but the dream did not die at
Ground Zero. It has fostered, nourished and encouraged individuals
who love God and want to serve humanity. Our faith in God proves
over and over again that hate and vengeance has a short span of life,
but Catholic values which St. Joseph School promotes helps to build a
civilization of peace and love.
FALL FLOWERS
We are preparing the grounds of our Basilica for the fall and we
greatly appreciate a donation from Timothy and Barbara West for this
purpose. Sylvia Kitka is making inquiries as to the best flowers to
purchase at a reasonable price to be placed at the stairs of the entrance
of our Basilica.
We were fortunate that the geraniums and petunias lasted from First
Communion in May until the present time.
In the month of the Rosary, October, we will embellish the entrance
to the Basilica to create an inviting experience as we enter the Basilica
and celebrate various events of the fall in our parish.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

held for parents and students at 5:30pm in the Church. Following a
brief service, you are invited to the school hall for light refreshments.
You will be able to meet the teachers and register your child if you
have not already done so.

Polish Ethnic Day on Sunday, Sept. 22 at the National Shrine
of The Divine Mercy, Stockbridge, MA begins at 11:00am with
confessions at noon, praying of the Rosary at 1:00pm, Polish Mass
at 1:30pm, a photographic exhibit of the life of Pope John Paul II on
display in the Great Room of the Monastery, recitation of Chaplet
of Divine Mercy at 3:00pm followed by a blessing with a relic of
St. Faustina and blessing of Religious Articles. Picnic areas will be

Death with Real Dignity: Love vs. Hardships-Continuing the
Discussion - will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28th from 9:00am

The Diocesan Wedding Anniversary Mass - will be held on
Sun., Oct. 6th at 3:00pm at St. Paul’s Cathedral. This annual liturgy in thanksgiving for many years of faithful witness to the sanctity of Christian marriage honors couples who are celebrating significant anniversaries (25th, 50th, etc. ) this year. A light reception
will follow in the Cenacle.
Couples should pre-register no later than Sept. 30. Please refer to

"Stwórz, o Boże, we mnie serce czyste i odnów w mojej piersi ducha
niezwyciężonego!" (Ps 51, 12)
ROZRZUTNY W PRZEBACZANIU
W dzisiejszym pierwszym czytaniu Mojżesz nawołuje do
Boga o miłosierdzie. Powodem prośby Mojżesza nie jest
uspokojenia gniewnego Boga, ale wykazanie, że bez względu
na to, jak poważny i ciężki byłby ludzki grzech, Bóg zawsze
jest gotów przebaczać.
W Liście do Tymoteusza, Paweł używa siebie, wielkiego grzesznika, jako
przykład tego, jak wielkie jest Boże przebaczenie. Natomiast, dzisiejsze
przypowieści ewangeliczne kreują obraz przebaczającej miłości Boga. Jako
pracowity gospodyni, dobry pasterz, kochający Ojciec, Bóg robi wszystko, aby
odzyskać utraconych i wybaczyć. Ukazując, kobietę pozostawiającą jej
dziewięć sztuk srebra i pasterza, który pozostawia jego dziewięćdziesiąt
dziewięć owiec, Jezus wzywa nas do porzucenia skąpego płytkiego na życie.
Jeżeli Bóg może być tak hojny, tak wyrozumiały i tak kochać tych uznanych za
niegodnych, to i my musimy działać podobnie.
Dzisiejsza druga kolekta jest przeznaczona na materiały i książki dla dzieci
uczęszczających na katechizację w naszej parafii.
Druga kolekta w następną niedzielę będzie przeznaczona na wsparcie
działalności Ligi Katolickiej Pomocy Religijnej w Polsce i Polonii.
Specjalne koperty znajdują się przy wejściu do bazyliki.
NOWENNA I NABOŻEŃSTWO DO ŚWIĘTEGO JÓZEFA
W środę, 18 września o 19:00 prosimy parafian i przyjaciół naszej parafii, aby
dołączyli do nas na nabożeństwie Nowenny do św. Józefa Członkowie Saint
Joseph Women's Club proszeni są o udział w procesji z figurą naszego patrona
od kaplicy Matki Bożej Częstochowskiej do ołatarza .
Jesteśmy wdzięczni za prośby i ofiary składane w specjalnej skrzynki,
znajdującej się w kaplicy Matki Bożej Częstochowskiej. Msza św. połączona z
nowenną w środę wieczorem, jest składana we wszystkich intencjach
zapisanych i umieszczonych we wspomnianej wyżej skrzynce.
CMENTARZ
Od wtorku są prowadzone prace na cmentarzu w celu zainstalowania nowe
systemu wodnego. Stare rury były skorodowane, co spowodowało nieustanne
przecieki i awarie. Ich ciągła naprawa była zbyt kosztowna. Nowa linia będzie
generalnie znajdować się w tym samym obszarze. Musimy również zakupić i
wymienić wodomierze. Oczywiście to wszystko wymaga czasu, ale mamy
nadzieję, że wygodny dostęp do wody będzie możliwy już od piątku, 20
września. Po zakończeniu instalacji nowych rur zostanie naprawiona
nawierzchnia dróg i załatane dziury. Dziękujemy za cierpliwość i
wyrozumiałość podczas remontu.
JĘZYK POLSKI DLA DZIECI
W ubiegłą sobotę Polska Szkoła Sobotnia w Webster rozpoczęła kolejny rok
szkolny. Już od 13 lat dzieci uczą się w niej pisać, czytać i mówić po polsku
oraz poznawać polską kulturę i tradycje. Od klasy V uczą się historii Polski, a
od VI, geografii Polski. Zachęcamy Rodziców do zapisywania dzieci do naszej
szkoły. Czasami warto to zrobić nawet wbrew woli dziecka, bo taki maluszek
naprawdę nie wie, co dla niego lepsze. Nie wystarcza, że mówicie w domu po
polsku, więc dziecku szkoła nie potrzebna. Nawet jak dziecko utrzyma
mówienie, to nie mając podstaw gramatycznych i ortograficznych, z czasem i
tak ten język (mówiony) utraci. Nie mówiąc już o czytaniu, czy pisaniu. Czy
jesteście w stanie sami nauczyć Wasze dzieci tyle, żeby kiedyś one nauczyły
swoje dzieci? Szkoda byłoby, żeby wnuki dorosły i mówiły, że są Polakami,
ale po polsku nie mówią, bo mama i tata nie dołożyli starań, żeby je nauczyć. A
takich ludzi spotyka się na każdym kroku. Ludzi, którzy mają żal do swoich
rodziców, o to, że kiedyś tam, czy to z własnej wygody, czy też z niechęci
dziecka, nie popchnęli go do nauki języka polskiego. Do szkoły przyjmujemy
już nawet dzieci trzyletnie, ale można się zapisać do każdej klasy.
Zainteresowane osoby mogą po prostu przyprowadzić dzieci w sobotę a my
przydzielimy je do odpowiedniej klasy, albo proszę dzwonić do Ewy Mamro

Zajęcia trwają od 9-ej do 13-ej, ale dzieci mogą wychodzić na zajęcia
dodatkowe, jak piłka nożna, czy tańce, i wrócić, lub nadrobić materiał z

Rycerze Kolumba spotkali się 4 września i wybrali nowy członków zarządu:

Rycerze Kolumba to największa katolicka organizacja w USA licząca 1,6
mln członków. Istnieje 1500 rad w różnych państwach co daje: 167.500.000
dolarów wydanych na cele charytatywne, 70 milionów godzin prac
charytatywnych. Organizacja wzrosła do tak wielkiego znaczenia na
Watykanie, że za każdym razem, kiedy Najwyższy Rycerz jedzie do Rzymu
zawsze jest przyjmowany przez Ojca Świętego. Organizacja jest również znana
z propagowania edukacji katolickiej i aktywnej obrony katolicyzmu w różnych
krajach.
Każdy, kto jest praktykującym katolikiem, osobą uczciwą i dobrej woli, może
stać się Rycerzem Kolumba. Zachęcamy tych, którzy chcieliby dołączyć do
Rycerzy, aby skontaktowali się z biurem parafialnym. Przyjęcie rycerzy
pierwszego stopnia jest zaplanowane na czas jesienny. Dziękujemy tym, którzy
juz złożyli swoje aplikacje.
UWAGA: Jest jeszcze czas na zakup kuponów loterii 50/50 organizowanej
przez Rycerzy Kolumba. Ceny kuponów są następujące: 1 za $5 oraz 3 za $10.
W poprzednich edycjach wygrana wynosiła ponad $1000.
2013-2104 APPEAL FOR CATHOLIC SCHOOLS
W weekend 28 i 29 września Diecezja Worcester organizuje akcję "20132104 Appeal For Catholic Schools". Wszyscy zgadzamy się, że edukacja
katolicka jest ważnym elementem w kształtowaniu przyszłości Kościoła, a
parafie są bramą do wiernych w diecezji. Dlatego też zwracamy się właśnie do
parafian z prośbą o modlitwę i partnerską pomoc dla 7500 uczniów zapisanych
do szkół katolickich w naszej diecezji .
WIADOMOŚCI SZKOLNE
W miniony tydzień w czwartek 5 wrzesień na terenie szkoły odbył się piknik.
Jesteśmy wdzięczni za pomoc panu Clem Starosta oraz wielu nauczycielom i
rodzicom, którzy służyli dzieciom i uczynili to wydarzenie przyjemnym
doświadczeniem wspólnoty. Spotkanie to było sponsorowane przez ks. prałata
Czarneckiego.
W niedzielę, 8 września, uczniowie wraz z rodzicami i dziadkami oraz z
nauczycielami, o godz. 09:30 wzięli udział w uroczystej liturgii. Nauczyciele i
pracownicy złożyli przyrzeczenie, że będą kształcić dzieci z godnie z
nauczaniem Kościoła Katolickiego oraz wraz z dziećmi modlili się do udanego
roku. Ks. prałat Czarnecki witając uczniów i rodziców i powiedział , że
jesteśmy w historycznym roku rozbudowy szkoły św. Józefa o nową salę
gimnastyczną, kuchnię, stołówkę. Przypomniał również, że jesteśmy wezwani
aby rozszerzać nasze horyzonty wiedzy i umiejętności, które mają następnie
przekładać się na mądrość życia. Nawoływał również do umacniania naszych
serc przez wierne uczestnictwo w Kulcie Bożym oraz wzajemną służbę.
Szkoła św. Józefa poszukuje wolontariuszy do pomocy na stołówce i w
biurze. Jeśli masz trochę wolnego czasu w ciągu tygodnia, które możesz
przeznaczyć na pomóc naszym uczniom, prosimy o kontakt z sekretariatem
szkoły.

Zajęcia katechetyczne w nowym roku szkolnym rozpoczną się
nabożeństwem w kościele w poniedziałek, 16 września o godz. 17:30.
Po nabożeństwie wszyscy, rodzice i dzieci spotykamy się w szkole w obecnej
sali gimnastycznej.
Bierzmowanie - w obecnym roku katechetycznym wszyscy kandydaci do
bierzmowania będą uczęszczali na spotkania w poniedziałki o godz. 17:30.
Rozpoczęcie zajęć w najbliższy poniedziałek o godz. 17:30 w kościele.
RCIA - Dorośli, którzy chcą przyjąć chrzest lub przyłączyć się do naszej
