1.5. Project title: Automating Production of Cross Media Content for Multi-channel Distribution (AXMEDIS)
Activity area: IST
Call announcement: The Integrated project AXMEDIS - Automating Production of Cross Media Content for Multichannel Distribution - is seeking new partners to carry out take-up actions to promote the validation and early
application of AXMEDIS technologies via demonstration activity. AXMEDIS is providing a framework which
includes technologies, methods and tools to speed up and optimise content production, protection and distribution,
for leisure, entertainment and digital content valorisation and exploitation in general for multi-channel distribution,
supporting interoperability of content and DRM. It aims to meet the challenges of digital-content market demand by:
(i) reducing costs for content production and management by applying composition, parallel processing,
optimisation techniques for content formatting and representation (format) and workflow control; (ii) reducing
distribution and aggregation costs in order to increase accessibility with a Peer-to-Peer platform at Business-toBusiness level, which can integrate content management systems and workflows; (iii) providing new methods and
tools for innovative, flexible and interoperable Digital Rights Management (DRM), including the exploitation of
MPEG-21 and overcoming its limitations, and supporting different business and transactions models.Take up
projects should aim at developing real solutions (adoption of the AXMEDIS framework and technology in real-life
scenarios) by exploiting AXMEDIS technologies. They should start real sustainable activities by taking advantage
of the AXMEDIS framework services and derived tools.

1.6. Przedstawiciele projektu IP „Promoting Food Safety through a new Integrated Risk Analysis Approach for
Foods” (akronim projektu: SAFE FOODS), realizowanego w ramach priorytetu tematycznego „Jakość i
bezpieczeństwo żywności” 6 Programu Ramowego, zapraszają nowych partnerów do udziału w konkursie na
realizację określonych zadań w projekcie.

Konkurs ma na celu wyselekcjonowanie partnerów reprezentujących nowe kraje członkowskie UE, a także/lub małe
i średnie przedsiębiorstwa. Do udziału w pracach zaplanowanych do realizacji w ramach pakietu WP2 „Early
Detection of Emerging Risks Associated with Food and Feed Production”. Zaproszone są:
- każda organizacja pochodząca z nowego kraju członkowskiego, tj. Cypru, Republiki Czeskiej, Estonii, Węgier,
Łotwy, Litwy, Malty, Polski, Słowacji i Słowenii oraz
- małe i średnie przedsiębiorstwa z krajów członkowskich.
Nowemu wyselekcjonowanemu partnerowi powierzone zostanie zadanie w ramach następujących zagadnień:
2.7.1 Report on a review of indicators of emerging risks/ hazards
2.7.2 Report describing a working procedure to identify emerging risk in an early phase.
2.8.2 Implementation of the training course for risk assessors, risk managers and other interested stakeholders in
identification and assessment strategies for emerging risks in food and feed production, including organization of the
technical items by the selected contractor mentioned in the first deliverable and teachings by the authors of the
course material or suitable experts replacing them.
2.8.3 Translated versions of the course materials developed in the first phase of the project.
2.10.1 Recognition of mycotoxin risk signals in high- and low-input and organic farming systems regarding
production practices and environmental conditions
2.10.2 Survey on the occurrence of several mycotoxins in cereal samples from a field trial in high- and low-input
and organic farming conditions

W dniu 15 marca br. Regionalny Punkt Kontaktowy Centrum Transferu Technologii Politechnika Krakowska
organizuje bezpłatne szkolenie pt. „Jak realizować projekt z 6 Programu Ramowego? Wskazówki po Audycie
Komisji Europejskiej. Narzędzia ułatwiające prowadzenie projektu i sprawozdawczości”.
Szkolenie poprowadzi dr Marcin Szumowski, Project Manager z Instytutu Wysokich Ciśnień PAN, który
doświadczył audytu z Komisji Europejskiej w jednym z prowadzonych przez siebie projektów.

Na szkolenie zapraszamy osoby realizujące projekty, osoby z księgowości instytucji, które prowadzą projekty
finansowane z 6.PR, osoby audytujące projekty finansowane z Programów Ramowych.
Szkolenie odbędzie się w sali „Kotłownia” na kampusie Politechniki Krakowskiej przy ul. Warszawskiej 24, w
godz. 10.00 - 15.00.

4. Dzień informacyjny programu eTEN (sieci telekomunikacyjne), Warszawa, 9 marca 2006
Ogłoszono konkurs w programie eTEN. Program ten wspiera finansowo wprowadzanie na rynek unijny usług lub
aplikacji działających w sieciach telekomunikacyjnych. Temin zamknięcia konkursu to 19 maja 2006. Więcej

w Polsce obecnie przez Ministerstwo Spraw Wewnętrznych i Administracji,

MSWiA przy ulicy 29 Listopada 3b w Warszawie.
Program eTEN adresowany jest do organizacji publicznych i prywatnych, które łącząc się w konsorcja realizują
usługi o charakterze publicznym i zasięgu transeuropejskim. W ramach tego programu można uzyskać
dofinansowanie projektów z obszarów eAdministracja, eZdrowie, eInclusion (zapobieganie alienacji społecznej),
eNauczanie, zaufanie i bezpieczeństwo (eBiznes, eHandel).
Administracja publiczna realizując zadania interesu publicznego może podzielić się swoimi doświadczeniami,
przybliżyć problemy, z którymi zmaga się na co dzień i w ten sposób przyczynić się do pobudzenia aktywności
polskich inwestorów.
W spotkaniu informacyjnym uczestniczyć będą eksperci z Unii Europejskiej odpowiedzialni za realizację programu
eTEN, którzy przedstawią zasady i procedury realizacji projektów. Mamy nadzieję, że spotkanie w Dniu
Informacyjnym zaowocuje utworzeniem konsorcjów do realizacji transeuropejskich projektów, możliwych do
dofinansowania z funduszy programu eTEN.

The call for projects is organised in a two-step procedure, with potential participants first submitting project outlines
for approval before delivering full project proposals. If accepted, projects are given the ITEA2 label and participants
are then free to apply for funding in their own countries.
Priorities:The five technical domains for proposals are:

- home
- cyber enterprise
- nomadic
ITEA 2-labelled projects are bottom-up, industry-driven initiatives, involving complementary R&D from at least
two companies in two different EUREKA countries. Projects involve between 40 and 300 person-years and typically

universities/research institutes.

“Since 2000, the Descartes Research Prize has been awarded to trans-national research teams in recognition of
scientific excellence in any field of sciences including socio-economic sciences and humanities.
The appreciation of the prize is growing from year to year. In 2005, hundreds of articles were published worldwide
following the prize ceremony in London. Until today, 16 projects involving 105 teams from 24 European and nonEuropean countries have been awarded this prestigious prize.Research teams may submit their work themselves,
but please note that appropriate public or private organisations such as research centres, foundations or universities
may also nominate candidates for the prize. I would like to encourage your institution to participate in this year’s
prize, for which a total budget of 1,15 million euro has been allocated: up to five laureate teams will share 1 million
euro, and five finalist teams will receive 30 000 euro each.

In 2004, a second Descartes Prize was introduced, rewarding excellent science communication actions towards the
general public. This prize amounts to 275 000 euro; up to five laureates will share 250 000 euro, and five finalists
will receive 5 000 euro each. Until today, ten science communicators have been awarded this prestigious prize.
The new call for proposals for the 2006 Descartes Research Prize was published on 17 December 2005 and the
closing date is 4 May 2006.

Karlsruhe (TH) invites applications for the position of the leader of an Independent Junior Research Group
Reliability of Molded Microcomponents.
We are looking for an outstanding young researcher in the field of Materials Science and Mechanics of Solids,
involving experimental and theoretical research in the areas of small-scale mechanical testing, statistical analysis,
reliability assessments, and lifetime predictions.
The Independent Junior Research Group will be incorporated in the general research program of the Collaborative
Research Centre SFB 499 (further information at http://www.sfb499.de ), and located at the Universität Karlsruhe
(TH), where the required office space and basic equipment will be provided. The Research Group will be funded for
up to 5 years and will enable independent research to be carried out in a vivid and inspiring environment. Funding
includes the position of the group leader (BATIa/b), scientific and technical personnel as well as consumables and
instrumentation.
The applicant is expected to have significant postdoctoral research experience and be capable of independently
leading a research group. Applications will be accepted from candidates who have held a doctorate for no more than
6 years. The selection process is based on a proposal outlining the project and an oral presentation by the applicant,
which will be evaluated by a review panel. Fluency in German is not required.
