STEWARDSHIP
The Gospel message invites us, as Christians, to follow a
different path - a road less traveled. As a people of faith and
members of a parish faith community, we are called to live differently. As Christians, the road less traveled is a continuing
spiritual journey that includes living as Christian Stewards.
Stewardship is sometimes misunderstood. It should not be
interpreted as a way for the parish to “raise money.” It isn’t a
program, an appeal or a financial quick fix. Stewardship is
deeply personal and spiritual, a way of practicing the faith.
As a people of faith, we are called to share, serve others and
be part of a worshipping community called a parish.

LIBERATION AND REFORM
While you might have to
reach for an atlas to determine
that Isaiah is speaking about
Galilee, today’s first reading
(part of which was read at
Christmas) is prophetic of Jesus’ future ministry in that
province. The light that brings
salvation and rejoicing is, ultimately, Christ. Liberation is the
theme: liberation from both ignorance (“darkness”) and sin (the
“yoke”).
As Isaiah identifies a place, so Paul describes an attitude: the
attitude that develops, even among good people, of equating
their own will with the common good. This always brings dissension, and so it has done in Corinth. Paul will not allow this;
we are all members of “Christ’s party.” The gospel is not to
divide us.
Matthew quotes from Isaiah in today’s Gospel, presenting
Jesus as the fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecies. The theme is
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew
4:17). To spread this message, Jesus begins to select disciples,
four of whom we meet today: Peter, Andrew, James, and John.
Next weekend’s second collection is designated for the
Catholic Home Mission Appeal.
THE CATHOLIC HOME MISSION APPEAL
In conjunction with the USCCB, Catholic Home Missions supports home missions in dioceses, that are unable to offer their people
the basic pastoral ministries of word, worship and service. It focuses on evangelization activities, religious education, ministry training for priests, deacons, religious sisters and brothers and lay people and supports poor parishes across the country. With your support on January 28-29th we will be able to strengthen the Church at Home.

NATIONAL MIGRATION WEEK
CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK
The Catholic Church in the United States has celebrated National Migration Week for nearly fifty years. National Migration Week is an opportunity for Catholics to reflect on their
heritage as well as the heritage of those they encounter in their
community. The importance of the word “encounter” was
stressed during Pope Francis’ homily given at his first Pentecost
as pope: “For me this word is very important. Encounter with
others. Why? Because faith is an encounter with Jesus, and we
must do what Jesus does: encounter others.”
The celebration of National Migration Week is an annual
tradition at St. Joseph School in Webster, MA. This year’s observance has a special meaning since we are marking the 125th
Anniversary of St. Joseph School. The children of the school
represent various cultures and each year they recognize the diversity of our country and with their families will come together to celebrate their heritage on Sunday, January 29, 2017
during 9:30am mass. Bishop Robert J. McManus will be main
celebrant and homilist. The public is invited to join us for this
special celebration.
Following mass, there will be a special Open House from
11am – 1pm to celebrate Catholic Schools Week. All are invited to visit each classroom and learn about the individual ethnic groups that have enriched St. Joseph School and the community of Webster. Travel through France, Poland, Greece,
Italy and more! Passports will be provided to participants who
experience the “Tour of Countries.” Everyone who completes
the tour will receive a special gift. In addition, a sampling of
international foods will be provided in the cafeteria along with
special entertainment. Encounter the College of the Holy Cross
Afro-Caribbean drumming group Los Congres, an Asian Dance
Troupe from the Southeast Asian Coalition, the Piast Polish
Dance Ensemble, and others! We look forward to seeing you at
our 125th Anniversary Open House!
PILGRIMAGE TO FATIMA
On the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the apparition of
the Blessed Mother in Fatima, Portugal, we will sponsor a pilgrimage to this holy site for nine days in the first part of August. On the pilgrimage trail we will include the miraculous
Shrine in Fatima, visit the village of Aljuster where Francisco,
Jacinta and Lucia lived and Valinhos, the site of the fifth apparition. We will travel by bus to Seville for a picturesque tour
and visit historical places, magnificent alabast gardens, fountains, cathedrals. Also tour Madrid and Barcelona, The Basilica of the Lady of the Pillar where the Blessed Mother appeared
to St. James, who brought Christianity to the country, as well as
Mont Serrat, home of the Benedectine Monastery and enjoy a
relaxing day at the seaside.
This tour coincides with the 125th Anniversary of our school
where devotion to Our Lady of Fatima is practiced and cherished by the school children as well as the parishioners.

DEVOTION AND NOVENA TO ST. JOSEPH
St. Joseph has been a powerful intercessor before God for
centuries and is the patron of the Universal Church. I believe
that many people in our parish experience a variety of needs
and seek the protection of our patron in their journey of life.
Therefore, parishioners and friends are invited to our weekly
Devotion and Novena on Wednesday, Jan., 25 at 7:00 for that
purpose--to ask for His assistance. You are asked to print your
intentions legibly on paper provided in the Chapel. These petitions will be read during devotion.
Our Eucharistic Ministers will bring St. Joseph’s statue into
the sanctuary. We appreciate your offering.
Friday Night Bingo - we invite parishioners and friends to
join us for Bingo to be held on January 27th in St. Joseph
School Cafeteria. Doors open at 5:00pm and games commence
at 6:30pm. This week members of the St. Anne Society will be

Adult Confirmation Information - The annual diocesan

offer a retreat for those preparing to be confirmed at the diocesan celebration. The retreat will be held at the Immaculate

ogarnia nas to samo jedyne i niepowtarzalne Światło, Jezus
Chrystus, w którym jest nasze zbawienie.

Razem z Komisją Episkopatu Stanów Zjednoczonych,
Catcholic Home Mission wspiera diecezje misyjne na terenie
naszego kraju, które nie są w stanie zapewnić swoim wiernym
podstawowej posługi duszpasterskiej bez pomocy z zewnątrz.
Pomoc jest skierowana na ewangelizację, edukację religijną,
kształcenie księży, diakonów, siostry i braci zakonnych oraz
świeckich ewangelizatorów. Dzięki Waszemu wsparciu
możemy pomóc naszemu Kościołowi Domowemu w realizacji
Jego misji.

TYDZIEŃ SZKÓŁ KATOLICKICH
Kościół Katolicki w Stanach Zjednoczonych od prawie
pięćdziesięciu lat organizuje Tydzień Migracji. Ten tydzień to
szansa dla Katolików do refleksji nad ich dziedzictwem
religijnym i kulturowym, oraz dziedzictwem tych, których
spotkają w swoim życiu, zgodnie z tym co powiedział Papież
Franciszek: Wiara jest spotkaniem z Jezusem, a my
powinniśmy czynić to co On czyni – spotykać się z innymi.
Obchody Tygodnia Migracji stały się już tradycją w Szkole
Świętego Józefa. Nasi uczniowie reprezentują wiele kultur
i poprzez tę różnorodność ubogacaj naszą wspólnotę szkolną.
Nasi uczniowie wraz z rodzinami będą świętować razem
z nami w niedzielę, 29 stycznia 2017 na Mszy św. o godz.
9:30, któraą odprawi ks. biskup Robert McManus. Po Mszy, od
godz. 11:00 w szkole odbędzie się „Dzień Otwarty”.
Zapraszamy do odwiedzenia każdej klasy, gdzie uczniowie
będą prezentowali różnorodne grupy etniczne obecne w naszej
szkole i w naszym środowisku. Każdy kto odbędzie całą
podróż przez różnorodne kraje na zakończenie otrzyma

Św. Józef wstawiał się przed Bogiem w różnorodnych
ludzkich potrzebach i być może właśnie z tego powodu jest
nazywany Patronem Kościoła Powszechnego. W naszej parafii
również wiele osób odczuwa różnorodne potrzeby. I wiele
próśb o pomoc od Boga zostało wysłuchanych właśnie dzięki
wstawiennictwu św. Józefa.
Każdy z nas może z ufnością i nadzieją zwrócić się do Boga
w swoich potrzebach korzystając ze szczególnej okazji jaką
jest cotygodniowa Nowenna do św. Józefa. Prośby można
zapisywać na kartkach znajdujących się w Kaplicy Matki
Bożej. Bóg zapłać za składane przy tej okazji ofiary.

Holy Rosary Sodality organizuje sprzedaż pierogów
i gołąbków. Tuzin pierogów można nabyć za $9 oraz cztery

DZIEŃ MODLITWY I POKUTY
W poniedziałek, 23 stycznia będziemy obchodzili dzień
modlitwy w intencji wszystkich zranionych fizycznie,
emocjonalnie i duchowo, poprzez grzechy przeciwko życiu.
W dniu tym zachęcamy następujących praktyk:
- osobiste lub wspólnotowa adoracja Najświętszego
Sakramentu,
- udział we Mszy św. w intencji zakończenia aborcji i
zwiększenia szacunku dla ludzkiego życia,
- odmówienie Różańca,
- modlitwa w intencji zranionych przez aborcję, aby mogli
doświadczyć Miłosierdzia Bożego i Jego uzdrawiającej mocy.
WIELKOPOSTNE SPOTKANIA
DLA RODZICÓW I PAR
Szczęśliwa rodzina oznacza szczęśliwe małżeństwo. Jeśli
przeżywasz trudności w małżeństwie lub rodzinie, albo też
wręcz odwrotnie, chcesz się podzielić rodzinnym szczęściem

Poście, pod przewodnictwem profesjonalnych ekspertów w
