Weekly $4886.50 (including $242.50 in loose money)
Diocesan Obligations $150; Fuel $1645.25 (including $94.25 in

Stewardship Note: “Jesus turned and saw them following him
and said to them, ‘What are you looking for?’” (John 1:38).
What are you looking for? It is a question Jesus asks each of
us. Are we wasting our time looking for the material pleasures
of the world? Or are our hearts really longing for something
deeper than can only be found by spending time with God?
Word of Life. Scientific research provides a unique opportunity to explore the wonder of the universe, the complexity of
nature and the distinctive beauty of life, including human life.
But since human beings are endowed with immortal souls and
are created in the image and likeness of God, there are dimensions of human existence that lie beyond the limits of what the
natural sciences are competent to determine. If these limits are
transgressed, there is a serious risk that the unique dignity and
inviolability of human life could be subordinated to purely utilitarian considerations.
SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
January 15, 2012
Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you.
—1 Corinthians 6:19a
SPEAK, LORD, WE ARE LISTENING
In today’s first reading God keeps calling out in the night
to a sleeping boy. Neither the boy, Samuel nor his teacher, Eli,
understands who is calling. But God’s persistence convinces
them. Samuel is then ready—not ready yet to do anything, but
ready to listen. “Speak, for your servant is listening” (1 Samuel 3:10).
In the Gospel Jesus is out teaching. Various people notice
him and begin to gather around. They soon become disciples
and, like the young Samuel, are ready—not ready yet to do
anything, but ready to listen. “Speak,” they say, “we are listening.”
God’s voice is always with us, awake or asleep. It swirls
around us like fog on a waterfront, enveloping us, gently urging
us to wake up, to listen. Awareness of the voice comes first;
then willingness to listen; then, in time, the decision to act, to
live according to God’s word. Let’s ask today for the ability to
keep our ears open so we don’t miss God’s voice.

CHILDRENS’ CHRISTMAS CONCERT
St. Joseph Basilica for the first time will host childrens’
Christmas choirs from several parishes in the region on Sunday,
Jan. 22nd at 3:00pm.
Christmas Day is always anticipated and filled with so much
joy, emotions and meaning but it seems to pass too quickly to
fully appreciate its message. This concert will help us remind
us about this beautiful time of the year through the childrens’
unique voices. The Christmas carols have the ability to express
human thoughts and expectations in a simple and appealing
way. They were composed by organists, poets, musicians and
ordinary people. They project all that human imagination can
portray to welcome baby Jesus into the world. Many nations
have a rich repertoire of Christmas carols which are diversified
in their character and content. For example, the Italian carols
have a tendency to reveal emotions—-German carols seem to
give guidance and instructions—Polish carols express joy from
the birth of Jesus Christ. However, all of them have so much
charm, attraction and appeal. They fascinate with their simplicity, mesmerize with their melodies and are a source of enjoyment to children and adults.
Saint Joseph Parish and School will present two bi-lingual
childrens’ choirs, with their musical instruments under the leadership of Mr. Robert Wojcik, Director of Musical Ministry and
Organist. The children participated in our Christmas Day liturgical services and are happy to sing once again for their audience. Some of the choirs who have already committed include:
Our Lady of Czestochowa, Worcester, St. John the Baptist,
Salem & Our Lady of Czestochowa, South Boston, MA.
The picturesque Christmas ambiance of our Basilica is a natural backdrop for this special concert. No admission charge.
We encourage people to come and relive the Christmas experience once again.

KRONIKA PARAFIALNA
DRUGA NIEDZIELA ZWYKŁA
15 stycznia 2012r.
“Czyż nie wiecie, że ciało wasze jest świątynią Ducha Świętego” (1 Kor 6, 19a)
Kapłan Heli i św. Jan Chrzciciel, ostatni prorok Starego Przymierza, wskazują na przychodzącego Boga. Heli mocą swojej posługi rozpoznaje głos
Pana i jako pierwszy uczy Samuela gotowości do słuchania Bożego słowa.
Św. Jan natomiast wskazuje swym uczniom na Jezusa – Baranka Bożego.
Otrzymane na chrzcie namaszczenie dało także nam udział w godności kapłańskiej i prorockiej Chrystusa, a więc uzdolniło nas do rozpoznawania przyjścia Boga i odpowiadania na Jego wezwanie. Jeśli jednak chcemy stać się
sługami Słowa, niosąc Je innym, potrzebna nam jest umiejętność pozostania
„w cieniu”, byśmy nie przesłaniali mocy i blasku Jezusa.
Dzisiejsza druga kolekta jest przeznaczona na
Catholic Univercity of America.

utwory mają szczególną właściwość wyrażania naszych uczuć, pragnień i
Nowonarodzonego. Wiele narodów ma bogaty repertuar kolęd, które
posiadają różnorodny charakter i treść.
W koncercie oprócz chórów z Worcester, Salem i Bostonu wystąpią dwa
chóry z naszej parafii i szkoły pod dyrekcja naszego organisty Roberta
Wójcika. Zapraszamy wszystkich bardzo serdecznie!
