“They have kept your word.” - John 17:6b
NOT AS ORPHANS
Today’s readings find us poised in waiting
with the apostles. Remember last week’s
promise from Jesus? He said, “I will not
leave you orphans.” The liturgy revisits that
promise in today’s Alleluia verse, because on
this Sunday between the Ascension and Pentecost, the apostles
felt like orphans. In the first reading, from Acts, we find them
all gathered in the upper room waiting and praying after they
witnessed Christ’s ascension. In the second reading, Peter’s
Letter continues, reminding us of our dignity as Christians.
Today’s Gospel also takes place in that upper room, on the
night before Jesus died. Looking ahead to the time when he
would no longer be with his followers on earth, Jesus prays for
them and for all of us down through the ages.
The second collection this week is for Diocesan Obligations.
Next weekend’s second collection is designated
for Higher Utility and Energy Costs.
FAMILY MASS
Sunday morning June 1st at 9:30am is the traditional Family
Mass for students and parents of SJS. After Communion pictures of St. John Paul II will be blessed and presented to delegates of each class to be displayed in their classrooms. These
objects of devotional piety of St. John Paul II were obtained in
Rome by Msgr. Czarnecki and given to St. Joseph School to
encourage prayers of the students to God through the powerful
intercession of St. John Paul II. During his Papacy John Paul II
many times asked about our school children and we have several mementos given by him to our school We use this occasion to dedicate our parish and especially the school in the care
of this recently canonized Saint.
NOVENA TO DIVINE MERCY- Today is the first Sunday
of the month which has been set aside for special devotions to
the Divine Mercy. We invite all parishioners to join us this
afternoon at 3:00pm to sing the Chaplet to the Divine Mercy,
spend some time in meditation and conclude the service with
benediction.

NOVENA AND DEVOTION TO ST. JOSEPH
As we approach “Father’s Day” let us reflect on the role of
our Patron, St. Joseph as protector of the Holy Family. He was
guided by God’s will and was more sensitive to the persons
entrusted to his safekeeping. We should imitate his goodness
and tenderness in our every day lives and ask through the intercession of St. Joseph for protection on our fathers and our own
families.
We kindly ask our parishioners and friends to join our Lectors on Wednesday, June 4th at 7:00pm and voice our needs on
the available petition papers placed in the chapel. Your intentions will be read during the Novena.
FIRST FRIDAY OF THE MONTH
We will observe the first Friday of the month on June 6th.
The Mass at 7:00am will be offered for the living members of
the Sacred Heart Society. Parishioners and members of the
Society are invited to attend and recite the usual prayers with
the Litany to Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Scheduled adorers are asked to participate at their appointed
time during the day and adoration will conclude at 3:00pm with
the praying of the Chaplet to the Divine Mercy and Benediction. Mass in the Polish language will be celebrated at 7:00pm
PILGRIMAGE TO POLAND
For your information - a meeting will be held on Monday,
June 9th at 7:00pm in the school cafeteria to receive pertinent
documents for the upcoming pilgrimage to Poland scheduled
for June 24th through July 5th. A representative from the tour
company will be present to answer your questions.
PARTNERS IN CHARITY
Still time to make your 2014 Partners in Charity gift or make
a pledge to support the many programs to assist the needy in the
Worcester Diocese. Through your generosity we have collected
$20,210 which is 81% of our goal.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS MEETING
On Tuesday, May 27th parents and parishioners met with
Dr. Delma Josephson, Superintendent of Diocesan Catholic
Schools and William J. Mulford, Associate Superintendent to
discuss the “New Vision for Catholic Education” in Webster.
I am very grateful the large number of people who attended
this most important meeting. All participants had the opportunity to express their opinions, voice their concerns, ask questions and propose new solutions concerning the catholic education of their children.
Parents and parishioners proposed new initiatives, which
signifies their great passion and dedication to St. Joseph School
and catholic education. Many questions and suggestions were
presented to the Diocesan representatives which will be shared
with Bishop McManus. A decision is expected by the Bishop
on June 18th.
CATHOLIC COMMUNICATIONS CAMPAIGN
The Catholic Church in the United States celebrates World
Communication Day and holds a special Catholic Communication Campaign to enable us to Share the Good News “beyond
the pew.” This is a time to reflect on the awesome responsibility we all have by virtue of our baptism to share the Good News
with others.
A prime example of the importance of the media is the recent
events of Our Holy Father, Pope Frances as he engages people
around the globe via all forms of new media.
Please consider what you can give to support this ongoing
work of the Catholic Church which will be taken up at all
Masses at our Basilica on June 14 and 15. Your donation is
directed to both local and national communications efforts
which support our need to be a voice of faith and reason to a
world which is constantly searching for answers.
ST. JOSEPH POLISH WOMEN’S CLUB
SAVE THE DATE - Tuesday, June 10th the St. Joseph Polish Women’s Club will hold their annual banquet at Point
Breeze Restaurant. Cocktails at 6:00pm with dinner served at
6:30pm. Your entrée choices are baked stuffed boneless
chicken breast, London broil or baked haddock with salad with
house dressing, potato and vegetable at $20 pp. Tickets may be

MASS FOR THE PROTECTION OF RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
All parishioners are invited to join Bishop McManus for a
special Mass for the Protection of Religious Freedom at
7:00pm on Friday, June 20th at St. Paul’s Cathedral. This diocesan celebration opens our observance of the national Fortnight for Freedom, a 14-day period of prayer, education and
action for the protection of our fundamental right to religious
liberty. The Mass will be followed by a light reception downstairs in the Cenacle and a presentation of “Current Threats to
Religious Liberty” by Attorney Hillary Byrnes, Assistant General Counsel for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops in
Washington, DC.

seafood specials and Polish-American food. Dancing to the

Race to Poland 5K & Polish Picnic-to be held on June 7th at
St. Patrick’s Church grounds in Whitinsville, MA. The 5K run,

food, Polish music, games for kids and much more!! Proceeds
of this event will help finance high school and college students
who will participate in World Youth Day in Krakow, Poland.

„Oni zachowali słowo Twoje” (17, 6b)
Pan Jezus jest obecny wśród swoich, choć
już nie w sposób namacalny. Czasami
zupełnie znika nam z oczu. Niełatwo nam
wówczas odczuć Jego obecność, a jeszcze
trudniej uwierzyć w Jego panowanie nad
światem. Potrzebujemy owych „światłych
oczu serca”, byśmy nie ustępowali wobec przeciwności oraz
byśmy odkrywając ponad pozorami zła Boże panowanie,
stawali się świadkami stałej obecności Zmartwychwstałego
pośród nas. Wniebowstąpienie jest dla nas wezwaniem do
modlitwy o Ducha Świętego: tylko On może przezwyciężyć
nasze poczucie osamotnienia i smutku.
Dzisiejsza druga kolekta jest przeznaczona na Zobowiązania Diecezjalne.
Druga kolekta w przyszłym tygodniu będzie przeznaczona na pokrycie kosztów utrzymanie i energii.

MSZA RODZINNA
Dzisiejszej niedzieli spotykamy się na Mszy Świętej Rodzinnej
o godz. 9: 30. dzieci z naszej szkoły przyniosą do błogosławieństwa
w procesji obrazy św. Jana Pawła II, które następnie zaniosą do swoich
klas.
KORONKA DO MIŁOSIERDZIA BOŻEGO
Dziś przypada pierwsza niedziela miesiąca, która tradycyjnie
poświęcona jest Bożemu Miłosierdziu. Zapraszamy wszystkich
parafian na wspólną modlitwę o godz. 15:00 i adoracje Najświętszego
Sakramentu. W tym tygodniu Zapraszamy również na Akatyst,
wyjątkowe nabożeństwo ku czci Matki Najświętszej.
AKATYST
Akatyst ku czci Bogurodzicy to hymn liturgiczny, jeden z
najpiękniejszych i najwspanialszych oddający cześć, uwielbienie i
miłość do Matki Bożej. Jest najważniejszą z form kultu maryjnego w
Kościele Powszechnym, w szczególności Bizantyjskim. Powstał w VVI wieku. Do Kościoła Zachodniego został przeniesiony w VIII
wieku. Treścią Akatystu jest rola macierzyństwa Maryi w historii
zbawienia. Akatyst wywarł ogromny wpływ na pobożność maryjną
(Litania Loretańska i „Godzinki” ku czci NMP). Św. Jan Paweł II
zatwierdził recytację tego Hymnu jako jedną z praktyk religijnych
umożliwiających uzyskanie odpustu zupełnego.
NOWENNA DO DUCHA ŚW.
Począwszy od soboty. 31 maja będziemy po każdej Mszy św.
odmawiać Nowenne do Ducha Św. przygotowując się w ten sposób do
Uroczystosci zesłania Ducha Św., która przypada w najbliższą
niedzielę.
NOWENNA DO ŚW. JÓZEFA
Zbliżając się do Dnia Ojca zastanówmy się nad rolą św. Józefa,
naszego patrona, jako obrońcy i opiekuna Świętej Rodziny. Kierował
się wolą Bożą i był bardzo wrażliwy na dobro powierzonych mu pod
opiekę osób. My też możemy prosić go o ochronę naszych rodzin.
Serdecznie zapraszamy naszych parafian do przyłączenia się do
wspólnej modlitwy w środowy wieczór. W tym tygodniu w procesji z
figura św. Józefa idą lektorzy. Intencje modlitw zanoszonych do Boga
za przyczyną św. Józefa prosimy wpisywać drukowanymi literami na
karteczkach znajdujących się w koszyku przy figurce św. Józefa.
PIERWSZY PIĄTEK MIESIĄCA
W tym miesiącu pierwszy piątek przypada na 6 czerwca. Msza
o godz. 7: 00 rano będzie sprawowana w intencji członków Sacred
Heart Society. Do udziału w tej Eucharystii zapraszamy wszystkich
członków stowarzyszenia i parafian.
Osoby adorujące proszone są o uczestniczenie w adoracji
w zaplanowanym czasie.
Zakończenie adoracji o godz. 13:00 wspólną modlitwą Koronki
do Miłosierdzia Bożego.
PIELGRZYMKA DO POLSKI
Spotkanie organizacyjne osób wyjeżdzających na pielgrzymkę
do Polski w dniu 24 czerwca odbędzie się w poniedziałek 9 czerwca
o godz. 19: 00 w szkolnej kafeterii. Na spotkani będzie obecny
przedstawiciel biura podróży, aby odpowiedzieć na wszystkie pytania
dotyczące wyjazdu.

ST. JOSEPH POLISH WOMEN’S CLUB
We wtorek, 10 czerwca, w restauracji Point Breeze St. Joseph Polish
Women’s Club organizuje swój doroczny Bankiet. Początek o godz.

MSZA W INTENCJI OCHRONY WOLNOŚCI RELIGIJNEJ
Wszyscy parafianie są zaproszeniu do udziału Mszy św. w intencji
ochrony wolności religijnej, którą biskup Robert McManus będzie
celebrował 20 czerwca w katedrze o godz. 19:00. Ta Eucharystia
rozpoczyna czternastodniowy czas modlitw, spotkań edukacyjnych
i innych działań mających na celu ochronę fundamentalnego prawa
człowieka do wolności przekonań religijnych.
Po Mszy św. spotkanie z Hillary Byrnes na temat: „Współczesne
zagrożenia dla wolności religijnej”. Zainteresowanych uczestnictwem
prosimy o kontakt z biurem parafialnym.
FESTIWAL
13, 14 i 15 czerwca
Piątek – rozpoczęcie Festiwalu o godz. 17:00. W tym roku
wyjątkowo Festiwal będzie się odbywał nie na parkingu parafialnym,
ale na terenie klubu PACC przy 37 Harris St. Zapraszamy na
wspaniałe dania kuchni polskiej i amerykańskiej. Do tańca będzie
przygrywać The Eddie Forman Orchestra.
Sobota – godz. 13:30 – Rozpoczynamy pokazem talentów dzieci z
naszej szkoły; 16:00 – Msza św.; 18:00 – Występy Grupy Tanecznej
Piast; 19:00 – Zabawa taneczna z zespołem Rythm Group.
Niedziela – godz. 12:00 – BBQ,1/2 chicken bilety dostępne na
plebanii przed festiwalem w cenie 10 dolarów. Oprawę muzyczna
zapewnia zespół Maestro’s Men. Ogłoszenie zwycięzców wielkiej
loterii o godz. 16:00.
Country Store dziękuje za dotychczas zebrane produkty, chętni
ciągle mogą ofiarować nie psujące się produkty żywnościowe i składać
je w koszykach przy wejściu do kościoła.
Loteria pieniężna – W tym roku wygrana wynosi $4000.
Wypełnione kupony można składać w koszykach z kolektą lub
przesłać na plebanię. Dziękujemy wszystkim, którzy biorą udział w
loterii.
Special Gifts Ticket – Bilety dostępne są na plebanii w cenie: $2 za
jeden lub $5 za trzy. Do wygrania jest ponad 85 fantów.
