5-day program for 4 year olds who will eligible for K the following year. Please call the school office for more information.

Stewardship Note: “It is written: The Lord, your God, shall
you worship and him alone shall you serve.” (Matthew 4:10)
Tempted between the riches and power of this world and service to God, Jesus chose service to His Father. If we wish to
truly follow Jesus, we, too, must decide to turn away from
power and riches and put God at the center of our lives.

THE WAY OUT
Today’s readings launch us into Lent with
the story of salvation. How did we humans
get where we are? How do we get out?
Genesis—through the Adam and Eve narrative—explains that we got separated from
God and happiness through greed, selfishness and arrogance.
But, as Paul explained to the Romans, God has not abandoned us, and never will. We get out through the “new Adam,”
Jesus Christ, through whom the death of sin is conquered by
the life of “overflowing grace.”
From the start, though, Jesus—like Adam and Eve, like you
and me—had to face “the tempter.” Shown fame and wealth,
he was tempted to grab for it. But Jesus saw through such foolishness. During Lent we will look at what the tempter spreads
before us daily, then try to make choices that put us on the side
of the angels.

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME
On Sunday, March 9th, Daylight Saving Time will begin.
Don’t forget to set your clock forward one hour before retiring
Saturday.
BISHOP ROBERT MCMANUS’ LENTEN MESSAGE
At the beginning of Lent 2014, our Bishop urges all of us to
enter this privileged time of grace with a renewed sense of
gratitude for the gift of our salvation that Christ won for us
through his life, passion, death and resurrection.
Lent provides each of us with the opportunity to reflect more
deliberately and intensely on our relationship to God and the
Church. This liturgical season is also a period when the Church
invites us to pray, fast and perform works of charity. These
time-honored penitential practices help us to grow in a spirit of
self-denial and humility. It is not easy to admit to ourselves and
others that we are sinners and in need of God’s forgiveness and
redeeming grace.
Remember to take advantage of our “Come Home to God’s
Mercy” initiative and experience the humbling act of confessing our sins as we enter deeply into the mystery of the tender
mercy of God who wishes that we all be saved and none of us
lost.
LENTEN SCHEDULE

and on Tuesdays from 7:00—8:00pm and Saturday at 3:00pm.

NOVENA AND DEVOTION TO ST. JOSEPH
Pope Francis recently consecrated Vatican City to St. Joseph,
the protector of Jesus and the Holy Family. How does Joseph
exercise this role? Discreetly, humbly and silently but with an
unfailing presence and utter fidelity. We are all called on to be
“protectors” and keep watch over ourselves!
Every Wednesday evening at 7:00pm at our Basilica we pray
to our Patron for compassion, genuine openness to others and
for love. On Mar. 12th members of our St. Anne Sodality are
invited to carry the statue of St. Joseph to the sanctuary. Please
place your requested favors in the petition box. All parishioners are asked to attend and also bring a family member or a
friend.

KRONIKA PARAFIALNA
PIERWSZA NIEDZIELA WIELKIEGO POSTU
9 marca 2014
„Panu, Bogu swemu, będziesz oddawał pokłon i Jemu samemu służyć
będziesz.” (Mt 4, 10)
Pokusa nie jest jeszcze grzechem, jest
raczej flirtem czy próbą uwodzenia. Bywa
jednak, że flirt staje się niebezpieczny, a my
całkowicie podatni na propagandę złego.
Dlatego tak ważne jest, by zobaczyć Jezusa
w Jego walce z pokusami. W tej walce odwraca grzech
pierwszych ludzi.
kosztów utrzymania i energii.
zmartwychwstanie.
Wielki Post stanowi dla każdego z nas możliwość
przeżywania bardziej świadomie i intensywnie naszej relacji z
Bogiem i Kościołem. Ten okres liturgiczny jest również
czasem, kiedy Kościół wzywa nas do modlitwy i czynienia
dzieł miłosierdzia. Te uświęcone praktyki pokutne pomagają
nam wzrastać w duchu wyrzeczenia i pokory. Nie jest łatwo
przyznać się przed sobą i innymi, że jesteśmy grzesznikiami i
potrzebujemy Bożego przebaczenia i zbawczej łaski.
Pamiętajmy, aby skorzystać z inicjatywy “Come Home to
God’s Mercy” i doświadczyć uzdrawiającej mocy w
sakramencie spowiedzi, wyznając grzechy i wchodząc głębiej
w tajemnicę Miłosierdzia Boga, który chce, ażeby wszyscy
zostali zbawieni i nikt z nas nie zginął.
REKOLEKCJE POWOŁANIOWE
Coroczne rekolekcje powołaniowe inspirowane przez biskupa
McManus odbędą się w dniach 11 i 12 kwietnia w Centrum
Rekolekcyjnym Immaculate Conception Retreat Center w
Putnam, CT. Rekolekcje rozpoczną się kolacją o godz. 18:00 w
piątek wieczorem i zakończy się kolacją o 18:00 w sobotę
wieczorem. Czas rekolekcji będzie wypełniony różnorodnymi
prezentacjami na temat rozeznania powołania oraz możliwości
jego realizacji, a także na temat samego życia i posługi
kapłańskiej. Będzie również czas na osobistą modlitwę,
dyskusje, Mszę św. i posiłki. Rekolekcje są bezpłatne, wraz z
transportem z Worcester. Zainteresowanych prosimy o kontakt
z ks. Jim Mazzone, Diocesan Director of Vocations (508) 3405788.
