Stewardship Note: “Jesus said to him, ‘Go and do likewise.”’
This was Jesus’ command at the end of the Good Samaritan
story. But did you know that the Samaritans and Jews despised
each other. The moral of the story is to love our neighbor, who
may be someone that looks different than you or someone you
don’t like, without expecting anything in return.

GO AND DO LIKEWISE
Miss Collins, the dean of students at
Olympic High School, was past the point of
scolding Matt, though she liked him very
much. “Four detentions in two weeks are
too many.”
Still Matt wouldn’t tell. It was only after
Miss Collins went on a morning neighborhood patrol that she found out the real reason for Matt’s tardiness. Thump, thump, thump, came the
wheelchair down the stairs. It was Matt, steadying Shawnetta
as he helped lower her down the stairs and then push her to the
corner bus stop.
“She’s a girl in my parish youth group,” Matt explained to
Miss Collins.
There are many ways to describe Matt’s actions—a random
act of kindness, making a difference one person at a time. Jesus
would understand. When the lawyer correctly identified the
good Samaritan as the one who had treated the injured man
with compassion, Jesus said simply, “Go and do likewise”
This weekend’s second collection is designated
for Parish obligations to the Diocese.
DIVINE MERCY
It is a meaningful coincidence that in this Year of Mercy, the
theme of the World Youth Day in Poland is “Blessed are those
who are merciful, mercy shall be theirs.”
Pope John Paul II stated that we need to develop a conscience
of mercy. In order to do that we have to see through our heart
and open our hearts to the flow of God’s goodness and mercy.
If we see with our hearts, the mercy will flow through us as it
did for the first Christians. There is a need to deeply respond to
the spirit of compassion. The meaning of being moved by
mercy could be clearly seen in the Prodigal Son’s father or in
the poor mother at the wedding feast at Cana. Christ is being
identified with those in need. One way to develop the conscience of mercy in ourselves is to host the Icon of Mercy in
our home and pray for ourselves and others so that we will become the agents of mercy.

JUBILEE OF MERCY
Could anyone object to Jesus’ supreme lesson in mercy, the
parable of the Good Samaritan? Jesus’ devoutly religious audience certainly did! Scant sympathy for anyone foolish enough
to travel crime-ridden “Jericho Highway” alone. Much sympathy for priest and Levite, hurrying to assigned temple ministry,
unwilling to risk ritual impurity through hands-on mercy. No
sympathy for Jesus’ scandalous hero. Samaritans were religious
apostates and political enemies. Jesus challenges them—and
us—to seek God’s presence not only in liturgical beauty but in
a fellow traveler’s self-inflicted misfortunes. See God’s presence even in someone outside the law, whose hands-on mercy
springs not from religious obligation but from the heart’s instinctive goodness. Since Jesus became our “Good Samaritan”
despite our foolishness and sins, who are we to ration our
mercy? “Who is my neighbor?” (Luke 10:29). The next person
we see who needs hands-on mercy! No conditions, no limits, no
exceptions. Especially in this Jubilee Year of Mercy, Jesus commands, “Go and do likewise”
ST. ANNE SOCIETY - is continuing their Annual Membership Drive. The membership of this society pledges to serve
God and to participate in the mission of the Church by taking
an active part in the spiritual and social functions at St. Joseph
Basilica.
This Society enrolls the newly baptized children into the care
of St. Anne. Pictures of the baptized children are placed in a
special book with pertinent information and placed at the altar
of Our Blessed Mother. You are invited to look through the
book to make certain your child’s information is correct. Mothers and grandmothers may consider becoming members. Installation of new members will take on Sunday, July 24th at 8:15
Mass.

FESTIVAL NEWS
We are pleased to share good news with you that the gross
income for Festival 43 is $89,258.63. This includes pre festival
income, festival proceeds and after festival sales. We exceeded
last year's gross income by about $15,000. Let me take this occasion to once again thank all the volunteers who provided their
gift of time and talent to help this festival. I was impressed that
some people took time off from work, several days ahead of
time, and some postponed family celebrations to focus on this
important annual parish event.

is a source of enrichment.” Louis Veuillot This quote probably
fits the many who extended their help to the festival for the
benefit of the St. Joseph School children.
The complete festival report will be given once all invoices
have been received and paid.
WEEKEND IN PUTNAM
Last weekend, the Altar Servers of our parish took part in a
camp, which was held at the Spiritual Renewal Center in Putnam, CT with Father Gregory and several parents. They had a
great time playing and relaxing. The camp was organized in
gratitude for their year-round service at the altar. It is thanks to
them and their parents who support them in their service, that
the priests receive invaluable assistance at almost every Mass
and worship service. Their presence at the altar is also a great
witness of faith for other children and young people in our parish. Many new altar servers and members of parish groups become more involved in parish life thanks to our wonderful altar
servers. We warmly thank them and encourage them to continue to serve God at His altar. God bless you!
NOVENA AND DEVOTION TO ST. JOSEPH
We invite parishioners and friends to join us on Wednesday,
July 13th at 7:00 pm for our weekly novena and devotion to St.
Joseph. Members of the Lector Ministry will join us and assist
in bringing the statue of our Patron to the Sanctuary.
Participation in the novena gives us the perfect opportunity to
bring our petitions before St. Joseph as our protector and intercessor and give him thanks for favors and blessings received.
Please list your intentions on the petition cards to be read during the novena. We welcome your donations.
CANDLELIGHT PROCESSION
On Wednesday, July 13th, the candlelight procession for Our
Lady of Fatima will be held following the Novena to St. Joseph.
We kindly ask the Children of Mary, Altar Servers and members of our parish ministries and organizations join us for this
traditional devotion.

Lady of Fatima are given in memory of George and Cora
LaRochelle from daughter, Sylvia Kitka and family
Friday Night Bingo - we invite you to our weekly Bingo
Game on Friday, July 15th in our school cafeteria. Doors open
at 5:00pm and games begin at 6:45pm. This week members of
the St. Anne Society will be present to assist our players.

that you may be a lucky winner and at the same time benefit the
parish.
PARTNERS IN CHARITY
We are still short of our $31,300 goal for the Partners in
Charity Annual Appeal for the Diocese of Worcester. If you
have not yet made a gift or pledge, please reflect on what you
are able to donate during this Year of Mercy. This Appeal
serves 30 charitable, educational and pastoral ministries.
Through your generous support, we are able to assist thousands
of families and individuals in Worcester County through outreach, formation, evangelization, and worship.

purpose of this event is to honor, inspire, motivate, and direct
the top students in the country who aspire to be scientists and
technologists, to stay true to their dream and, after the event, to

Cave Quest VBS: Following Jesus, the Light of the World!

Year of Mercy Pilgrimage-Bishop McManus will lead a
pilgrimage to Divine Mercy Shrine in Stockbridge, MA on

Chaplet of Divine Mercy and confessions will be available.

„Jezus Chrystus... jest Głową Ciała – Kościoła” (Kol 1, 18)
Czasem zatrzymujemy się, zadając sobie
pytania, kim jest Bóg, jaki jest sens naszego
życia i istnienia świata. Zagłębiamy się
w filozoficzne dywagacje i w końcu
dochodzimy do wniosku, że czujemy się
w tym wszystkim zagubieni. Tymczasem
mamy być ufni wobec Boga jak dzieci
wobec ojca. Chrystus daje nam receptę na
udane życie: kochaj Boga i kochaj bliźniego, wtedy wszystko
będzie miało sens. Kochaj, bo w miłości jest Bóg. Takie to
zwyczajne i proste, a jednocześnie takie trudne.
NOWENNA DO ŚW. JÓZEFA
I NABOŻEŃSTWO FATIMSKIE
Na najbliższą środę przypadają dwa nabożeństwa, które
regularnie odbywają się w naszej parafii: Nabożeństwo
Fatimskie i Nowenna do św. Józefa. Nabożeństwo zostanie
poprzedzone Mszą św. wotywą do Miłosierdzia Bożego. Po
Mszy św. pójdziemy w procesji różańcowej na zewnątrz
Bazyliki i zakończymy ją modlitwą Nowenny do św. Józefa.
Ten wyjątkowy zbieg okoliczności daje nam możliwość
uhonorowania całej świętej rodziny i szukania ich
wstawiennictwa w naszych potrzebach. Nie przegapmy tej
niesamowitej okazji do uwielbienia Boga.
Dzisiejsza druga kolekta jest przeznczona na zobowiązania
wobec Diecezji.

WEEKEND W PUTNAM
W ubiegły weekend ministranci z naszej parafii wzięli udział
w biwaku, który odbył się w Spiritual Renewal Center w Putnam.
Wraz z księdzem Grzegorzem i kilkoma rodzicami spędzili
wspaniały czas na zabawie i wypoczynku. Biwak został
zorganizowany w ramach wdzięczności za całoroczną służbę
naszych ministrantów. To dzięki nim i ich rodzicom, którzy ich
wspierają w służbie, niemalże na każdej Mszy św. i nabożeństwie
księża
otrzymują
nieocenione
wsparcie
w
posłudze
duszpasterskiej. Ich obecność przy ołtarzy to również wspaniałe
świadectwo wiary dla innych dzieci i młodzieży z naszej parafii.
Wielu nowych ministrantów i członków grup parafialnych
decyduje się na większe zaangażowanie w życie parafii właśnie
dzięki naszym wspaniałym ministrantom. Dziękujemy im bardzo
serdecznie i zachęcamy do dalszej służby Bogu przy Jego Ołtarzu.
Bóg Zapłać!
ROK MIŁOSIERDZIA
Czy ktoś może wyrazić sprzeciw wobec Jezusowej lekcji
miłosierdzia: przypowieści o dobrym Samarytaninie? Pobożnie
słuchacz Jezusa na pewno nie! Przeciętny słuchacz natomiast
okaże niewielkie współczucie dla kogoś na tyle głupiego, aby
podróżować samemu na znanej z obecności rabusiów drodze do
Jerycha. Zrozumienie dla kapłana i lewity, śpieszących
z wypełnieniem wyznaczonej posługi w Świątyni, nie chcących
ryzykować rytualnej nieczystości przez dotykanie pobitego
i rannego człowieka. Kompletny brak zrozumienia dla Jezusowego
bohatera. Samarytanie byli odstępcami religijnymi i politycznymi
wrogami. Poprzez takie zestawienie postaci Jezus stawia wyzwanie
im i nam do poszukiwania obecności Boga nie tylko w pięknie
sprawowanej liturgii, ale i w niejako na własne życzenie
poturbowanym nieznajomym. Zobaczyć obecność Boga nawet
w kimś poza prawem, kiedy miłosierdzie wypływa nie
z obowiązku religijnego, ale z instynktownej dobroci płynącej
prosto z serca. Skoro Jezus stał się naszym "Dobry
Samarytaninem" pomimo naszego braku rozwagi i grzechów,
to kim my jesteśmy, aby ograniczać nasze miłosierdzie? Kto jest
moim bliźnim? Osoba tuż obok, która potrzebuje miłosiernie
wyciągniętej dłoni! Bez warunków, bez ograniczeń, bez wyjątków.
Zwłaszcza w tym Jubileuszowym Roku Miłosierdzia, Jezus
nakazuje: "Idź, i ty czyń podobnie"
ST. ANNE SOCIETY
St. Anne Society kontynuuje przyjmowanie nowych członków.
Członkowie tego społeczeństwa deklarują się służyć Bogu i brać
udział w misji Kościoła, a także angażować się duszpasterskich
dziełach parafii Bazyliki św. Józefa. Towarzystwo to oddaje pod
opiekę św. Anny nowo ochrzczone dzieci. Zdjęcia ochrzczonych
dzieci są umieszczane w specjalnej książce, która znajduje się przy
ołtarzu Matki Bożej.

Ciągle jeszcze wiele brakuje nam do osiągniecia wymaganej od
nas w tym roku sumy $31000. Bardzo prosimy, aby ci parafianie,
którzy w tym roku jeszcze nie złożyli swojej ofiary czy
zobowiązania, zrobili to jak najszybciej mając na uwadze
wszystkich potrzebujących, którzy szczególnie w Roku
Miłosierdzia czekają na naszą wyciągniętą, pomocną dłoń. Partners
in Charity wspiera 30 programów o charakterze charytatywnym,
edukacyjnym i pastoralnym. Dzięki wsparciu ludzi dobrej woli
setki, a nawet tysiące rodzin i osób indywidualnych otrzymają
wsparcie w swoich najważniejszych potrzebach.
WIADOMOŚCI Z FESTIWALU
Z radością informujemy, że przychód netto z festiwalu w tym
roku wyniósł $89258.63 włączając wszystko co zostało wpłacone
przed festiwalem, wpływy w trakcie i wyprzedaże po festiwalu.
W sumie tegoroczny dochód jest większy od zeszłorocznego
o około $15000. Chcemy jeszcze raz bardzo serdecznie
podziękować wszystkim wolontariuszom, którzy ofiarowali swój
czas i umiejętności dla zorganizowania tego niezwykłego
przedsięwzięcia. Szczególnie budująca jest postawa niektórych
osób, które aby móc uczestniczyć w przygotowaniach
festiwalowych brały wolne w pracy, albo też przesuwały rodzinne
celebracje na późniejszy czas.
Louis Veuillot powiedział, że cokolwiek posiadamy, wcześniej
czy później śmierć nam odbierze, ale dobro, które uczynimy dla
innych zawsze do nas powraca i jest źródłem ubogacenia. Myśl ta
pasuje do tych, którzy wspomogli organizacje festiwalu, a przez to
wsparli uczniów szkoły św. Józefa.
Ostateczny raport z festiwalu zostanie zaprezentowany, jak tylko
uregulujemy wszystkie wydatki i rachunki.
ST. JOSEPH POLISH WOMEN’S CLUB
St. Joseph Polish Women’s Club zaprasza na ważne spotkanie
dotyczące najbliższej zbiórki. Spotkanie odbędzie się we wtorek, 12
lipca o godz. 18:30 w szkolnej kafeterii. Prosimy o wnoszenie
nowych pomysłów, entuzjazmu i wsparcia. W celu uzyskania

Józefa. Godziny otwarcia sekretariatu szkolnego w okresie
wakacyjnym: 8:00 – 13:00. Pytania prosimy kierować również na

spotkania z dyrektorem panem szkoły Michale Hackenson
i zapoznanie się z wyglądem i możliwościami szkoły.
Pakiety zapisowe są dostępne w sekretariacie szkoły lub na
stronie internetowej szkoły. Dostępne są miejsca na wszystkich
poziomach począwszy od Pre – K 2 do klasy 8.

RELIGIA
Rozpoczynamy zapisy na katechezę, na kolejny rok szkolny.
Opłata wynosi $45 za jedno dziecko oraz $70 za dwoje i więcej
dzieci. Formularze zapisowe są dostępne przy wejściach do
Bazyliki.
GRATULACJE
Serdecznie gratulujemy absolwentowi naszej szkoły, Tomaszowi
Mamro, który został wybrany jako delegat na Congress of Future
Science and Technology Leaders w Lowell, MA. Kongres ten jest
adresowany tylko do uczniów uczęszczających do Hight School,
którzy osiągnęli bardzo wysokie wyniki w nauce i pasjonują się
nauką, technologią, inżynierią lub matematyką. Celem tego
wydarzenia jest uhonorowanie, inspirowanie, motywowanie
i ukierunkowywanie najlepszych uczniów w naszym kraju w
wybieraniu drogi kariery i osobistego rozwoju jako naukowców.

PIELGRZYMKA DO STOCKBRIDGE
Nasz biskup Robert McManus będzie przewodniczył pielgrzymce
do Sanktuarium Miłosierdzia Bożego Stockbridge, MA.
Pielgrzymka wyrusza 19 sierpnia o godz. 8:15 z kościoła
Immaculate Conception w Worcester. Powrót około godz. 18:30.
