SS. PETER AND PAUL
Today is something of a rarity: the celebration
of a saint’s day that replaces the Sunday liturgy.
Only a handful of these days, given the official
rank of “solemnity,” are considered so foundational and primal to the mission of the Church
that they interrupt the Sunday sequence. And so
it is with Peter and Paul today.
In a way, they each have personality traits with which we
can identify. They are both impetuous, sometimes acting or
speaking thoughtlessly, contradicting the spiritual gifts given to
them by God. At such times, they might receive a nudge from
God, much the same as many of us experience. On the positive
side, these men were deeply rooted in their faith in Christ, tireless and fearless in living out their call to spread the Good
News of his death and resurrection. Perhaps we might identify
more with one or the other, but the essential truth we celebrate
today is this: Through the Spirit, Christ built and continues to
build the Church and make the kingdom known through fragile,
remarkable human beings, each graced in a particular way for
the work of the reign of God.

Collection and also the in-pew collection
for Partners in Charity Appeal.

for Diocesan Obligations.
DAY OF INDULGENCE
Today, Sunday, June 29 we observe the Solemnity of SS.
Peter and Paul as a day of indulgence. On this day, St. Joseph
Basilica has the privilege to grant indulgences to the faithful. A
plenary indulgence may be obtained under the usual conditions,
which means reception of Communion, confession if needed, a
visit to Saint Joseph Basilica and prayer for the intention of the
Holy Father. A plenary indulgence may be obtained only once
today and a partial indulgence as many times as the Basilica is
visited and a prayer is said for the intention of the Holy Father.
Sacred Heart Society Communion Mass - we welcome
the members of the Sacred Heart Society to the 8:15am liturgy
on Sun., June 29 for their annual Communion Mass and to install new members into this spiritual group. A coffee hour social will be held in the school conference room after Mass.

CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION
We were pleased by the many parishioners who participated
in the beautiful Corpus Christi procession and experienced the
spirituality of that hour. Our parish was blessed with perfect
weather for this most special occasion.
All the organizations, parish ministries, First Communion
class, Children of Mary, Boy Scouts and Altar Servers were
well represented. Thank you to the members of the organizations for setting up the attractively decorated altars where we
offered our prayers.
Let us remember that Christ continues to show his love for us
in every celebration of the Eucharist.
Our hearts are filled with pride to know that our parish community is always ready and eager to stand together as one.
NOVENA AND DEVOTION TO ST. JOSEPH
We invite parishioners and friends to join us on Wednesday,
July 2 at 7:00pm for our weekly novena and devotion to St.
Joseph. Members of the Saint Anne Sodality will carry the
statue of our patron from the Our Lady of Czestochowa Chapel
to the sanctuary.
Summertime is an ideal time to pause and reflect on how we
may, through the intercession of St. Joseph, ask and hopefully
receive needed blessings for ourselves and our families.

FIRST FRIDAY ADORATION
Because First Friday in the month of July falls on the Fourth
(Independence Day) we will have a change in our usual schedule. We will celebrate Mass at 7:00am for the deceased member of the Sacred Heart Society followed by Benediction and
Blessing.
We will dispense with adoration because of the national
holiday.
Independence Day: commonly known as the Fourth of
July is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating
the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4,
1776 declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain. This day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades,
barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games,
family reunions and political speeches.

NEW ALTAR SERVERS
This weekend, we are pleased to introduce seven new Altar
Servers who will begin their service at our Basilica: Julia
Zdrok, Daniel Gronek, Katarzyna Piekielniak, Adrian Sobczak,
Aleksandra Sobczak, Hayden Dery and Natalia Sudyka. Our
youngsters are being offered a great opportunity to participate
in the life of our parish by assisting Jesus during Mass.
FELICIAN SISTERS CONVENT
We have replaced the worn, aged porch of the Convent on
Maynard Street. Sister Jeanne, Sister Valenta and Sister Mary
Ann now will enjoy a new, sturdy and freshly painted entrance
to their home.
SAINT JOSEPH POLISH WOMEN’S CLUB
Save the date: The St. Joseph Polish Women’s Club is participating in the Public House Fundraising Event on Monday,
July 28, 2014. Under the tent, enjoy an All-You-Can-Eat Classic Barbeque Buffet of Pulled Pork, Baked Beans, Barbeque
Chicken, Cornbread and Watermelon. Also included is Tossed
Salad with Maple Vinaigrette, Dinner Rolls, Dessert, Coffee,
Tea, Soft Drinks and Ice Water—all for a donation of $13.

Photos and CD’s taken with Cardinal Dziwisz during his visit
to our parish on May 20th will be available in the sacristy at a

POLISH FOOD SALE
We have a limited amount of cabbage and cheese pierogi,
($10 per dozen); golabki ($11 for 5) and kapusta ($4) for sale
after the 4:00pm Mass on Saturday and following the 8:15 and
9:30 am Masses on Sunday. Sale will be held in the school
basement on a first come first serve basis.

OFFICE OF RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Please register your son/daughter for the fall session of
religious education classes before July 1, 2014. Registration
fee is $30 for one child and $50 for two or more children. After
July 1st, there will be an additional fee of $5. The total number
of students is necessary for planning purposes. Forms are
available in the sacristy.
YOUTH GROUP NEWS
Camp Catholic Vacation Bible School is a big success!!
We had 40 kids in K-12 participate in the event and we had SO
much fun! Thank you to everyone who helped make Camp
Catholic possible!
The Youth Group’s Summer Theater Program will
perform, “One in a Million”. Kids ages 10 - 17 are invited to
take part as actors or stage crews. No experience necessary.
We begin the week of July 7th and our performances are Aug.
7th & 8th.
Youth Group Mass and Summer Cook-out will be held on

UPCOMING EVENTS
Women in Scripture Workshop - will be held at St.
Anthony’s, Dudley, MA July 20th from 1:30—3:00pm. The
first workshop will explore the lives of Ruth and Naomi. All
interested youth in grades 1-12 are invited to learn more about
these role models of Faith. Cost is $4 to cover the cost of
materials and the patch. Please bring a canned good to donate
to St. Vincent de Paul as part of the program.

Summer Program at the College of Saint Mary Magdalen,
Warner, NH - This collegiate summer program from July 27—

philosophy, literature & political science. Students attend daily

St. Anne Shrine - is forming a new regional youth choir for
a special healing event on Sat., Sept. 6th at 6:30pm. The choir,
made up of boys and girls, ages 6-16, will sing four fun songs,
including Hansel & Gretel’s Evening Prayer.

UROCZYSTOŚĆ APOSTOŁÓW
PIOTRA I PAWŁA

„Ich głos się rozchodzi na całą ziemię i aż po krańce świata ich
mowy.” (Ps 19, 5)
Apostołowie Piotr i Paweł są filarami, na
których Chrystus zbudował Kościół. Piotr jest
„Opoką” i pierwszym wśród uczniów. Paweł,
choć nie należał do grona Dwunastu, to jednak
został wybrany przez Pana, aby zanieść
Ewangelię poganom. Piotr – mimo ludzkiej
słabości – przez całe życie, aż do męczeńskiej
śmierci, potwierdzał wyznanie złożone pod Cezareą Filipową:
„Ty jesteś Mesjasz, Syn Boga żywego”. Paweł, świadom łaski,
jakiej doświadczył od zmartwychwstałego Pana, pragnął, aby
przez niego „dopełniło się głoszenie Ewangelii i żeby
wszystkie narody je posłyszały”. Dziękujemy dzisiaj Bogu za
tych Bożych „szaleńców”, którzy bez wahania oddali życie za
Chrystusa i dzięki którym także my w Niego wierzymy.
SACRED HEART SOCIETY
Na Mszy św. o godz. 8:15 zostanie zatwierdzony nowy zarząd
Stowarzyszenia. Po Mszy św. odbędzie się wspólne śniadanie
dla wszystkich członków w szkolnej sali konferencyjnej.
Dzisiejsza druga kolekta jest przeznaczona na Peter Pence Collection.
Dziś zbieramy po raz ostatni ofiary na Partners in Charity. Koperty prosimy wkładać do koszyka z drugą kolektą.

UROCZYSTOŚĆ APOSTOŁÓW PIOTRA I PAWŁA
Obchodzimy dziś Uroczystość Apostołów Piotra i Pawła.
Uroczystość ta jest bardzo stara i jest jednym z ważniejszych
świąt w ciągu roku liturgicznego. Jeśli przypada w dzień
powszedni nie jest świętem obowiązkowym. W tym dniu nowo
mianowani arcybiskupi otrzymują od Papieża symbol ich
posługi zwany paliuszem.
Dzień odpustu. W tym dniu, Bazylika św. Józefa ma
przywilej udzielania odpustów wiernym. Odpust zupełny
można uzyskać na zwykłych warunkach, co oznacza, przyjęcie
komunii św., spowiedzi, jeśli to konieczne, i nabożne
nawiedzenie Bazyliki oraz modlitwa w intencji Ojca Świętego.
Odpust zupełny można uzyskać tylko jeden raz w ciągu dnia,
odpust cząstkowy zaś wielokrotnie.
NOWI MINISTRANCI
Dzisiejszej niedzieli przeżywamy wyjątkowe wydarzenie z
udziałem najmłodszych parafian. Siedmioro dzieci dostępuje
przywileju służenia Jezusowi w Liturgicznej Służbie Ołtarza.
Do grona Ministrantów dołączają: Julia Zdrok, Daniel Gronek,
Katarzyna Piekielniak, Adrian Sobczak, Aleksandra Sobczak,
Hayden Dery i Natalia Sudyka. Gratulujemy i życzymy wielu
duchowych przeżyć oraz satysfakcji z pełnionej służby.
NOWENNA I NABOŻEŃSTWO DO ŚW. JÓZEFA
Zapraszamy parafian i przyjaciół do przyłączenia się w środę,
4 lipca o 19:00 do naszej cotygodniowej nowenny
i nabożeństwa do św. Józefa. Członkowie St. Ann Society niosą
w tym tygodniu figurę naszego Patrona w procesji z kaplicy
Matki Bożej do ołtarza.
Lato to idealny czas, aby pogłębić naszą relacje z Bogiem,
zatrzymać się i zastanowić się, jak możemy, za
wstawiennictwem Świętego Józefa, prosić i z nadzieją
oczekiwać, że otrzymamy potrzebne błogosławieństwa dla nas i
naszych rodzin.
ADORACJA PIERWSZOPIĄTKOWA
Ponieważ pierwsze piątek w miesiącu lipcu przypada na
Dzień Niepodległości, postanowiliśmy wprowadzić mała
zmianę w naszym zwykłym harmonogramie adoracji.
Rozpoczniemy jak zwykle Mszą św. o godz. 6:30 po czym o
godz. 7:00 Msza św. w intencji zmarłych członków Sacred
Heart Society, a następnie wystawienie Najświętszego
Sakramentu i wspólna adoracja zakończona
błogosławieństwem. Nie będzie adoracji w ciągu całego dnia
i nabożeństwa do Miłosierdzia Bożego o godz. 15: 00. Msza
św. po polsku o godz. 19: 00 bez zmian.
DZIEŃ NIEPODLEGŁOSCI
Święto to zostało ustanowione na pamiątkę ogłoszenia
Deklaracji Niepodległości 4 lipca 1776 roku w Filadelfii. Dzień
Niepodległości nieoficjalnie obchodzono już od 1777 roku,
jednak dopiero w 1870 roku Kongres Stanów Zjednoczonych
oficjalnie ustanowił czwarty lipca dniem wolnym od pracy. 237
lat temu, na podstawie Deklaracji Niepodległości, trzynaście
kolonii angielskich w Ameryce Północnej przekształciło się w
trzynaście niepodległych stanów, proklamując uwolnienie spod
panowania brytyjskiego. Autorem Deklaracji był Thomas
Jefferson, późniejszy prezydent Stanów Zjednoczonych.

zamówić papierową odbitkę w cenie wydruku w CVS lub CD
z wybranymi zdjęciami w cenie czystego dysku. Wydrukowane
zdjęcia można oglądać w zakrystii i wybrać odpowiednią kopię
oraz wielkość.
SIOSTRY FELICJANKI
W ubiegłym tygodniu zostały odnowione schody i ganek przy
głównym wejściu do domu sióstr Felicjanek.
WYPRZEDAŻ POLSKICH DAŃ
Po festiwalu pozostała ograniczona ilość pierogów z serem i
kapustą ($10 za tuzin); gołąbki (11 $ za 5) i kapusta ($4 za
porcję). Zakupu można dokonać po Mszy o godz. 16:00 w
sobotę i po 8:15 Msza w niedzielę. Wyprzedaż odbędzie się w
szkole.
SPOTKANIA
Saint Joseph Polish Women’s Club - Zarząd spotyka się we
wtorek, 1 lipca o godzinie 18:30 w domu Cindi Gardner.
Rycerze Kolumba spotkają się w środę, 02 lipca o godzinie
19:00 w szkolnej sali konferencyjnej.
OFIARA NA SALĘ GIMNASTYCZNĄ
Jesteśmy wdzięczni panu Robertowi Murawskiemu, który
podzielił się swoją wygraną z festiwalu i ofiarował $1750 na

To już ostatnia szansa na zakup kuponów na lipcowe
losowania Cash Calendars. Każdy, kto weźmie udział w loterii
ma szansę wygrania codziennie nagrody w wysokości od $50
do $500. Nasi wolontariusze, Pat Parslow i Dottie Kasierski
będą sprzedawać kupony przy wejściach do bazyliki. Wpływy
z tej loterii zasilają budżet naszej parafii.

RELIGIA
Prosimy o zapisywanie dzieci na lekcje katechezy
w przyszłym roku szkolnym. Do dnia 1 lipca opłata
rejestracyjna wynosi $30 za jedno dziecko i $50 za dwoje lub
więcej dzieci. Po 1 lipca do zapisu będzie doliczana dodatkowa
opłata w wysokości $5. Wcześniejszy zapis pozwala lepiej
zaplanować katechezę na przyszły rok. Formularze zapisowe
są dostępne są w zakrystii.
