GOD’S LOGIC IS NOT OURS
Nobody will ever mistake the Bible for a
logic textbook. We need to remember this
when we approach today’s readings. How
can a God who knows no favorites have a
chosen people, or give us the disciplines of
fasting and almsgiving and then instruct us not to talk about
them? God, in love and tenderness, knows how quickly we can
get “into a rut.” The Spirit inspires passages like the instruction from Sirach and the parable in Luke to help drag us out of
the rut of thinking that God’s ways are our ways.
Sirach poetically uses contrast to answer the question,
“Whose prayer will reach the lofty clouds of heaven?” The
answer? Those who are lowly on earth. Jesus amplifies this in
his parable of the Pharisee and the publican. It is Spiritinspired illogic that communicates today’s message: God hears
the voices of those who are ignored by the rest of the world.

for Diocesan Obligations.
CEMETERY PROCESSION
The annual cemetery procession will take place this Sunday,
October 27 at 2:00pm., commemorating All Souls Day. It is a
special day of the year when all the members of the St. Joseph
Basilica family and friends participate in a prayer service for all
those with whom we shared our life. Those who cannot walk
can stay in their car and still be united with those in procession.
Masses, prayers and act of charity are the most effective way to
assist them. A special votive candle should be placed on the
grave of your loved ones as a sign of our love and remembrance.
All organizations with their banners and appropriate medals,
choirs, Children of Mary and Altar Servers are asked to be present.

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
First Friday of the month will be observed on November 1st
at 6:30am Mass which will be offered for the deceased members of the Sacred Heart Society. Parishioners together with
members of the Society are invited to attend and recite the usual
prayers with the Litany to Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Scheduled adorers are asked to participate at their appointed
time during the day and adoration will conclude at 3:00pm with
the praying of the Chaplet to the Divine Mercy and Benediction.
ANNUAL MASS OF REMEMBRANCE
The annual Mass of Remembrance for our parishioners who
passed into eternity from November 2012 through October
2013 will be celebrated on Saturday, November 2nd at 8:30am.
The Bereavement Ministry cordially invites all the St. Joseph
Basilica Community, especially members of families whose
loved ones passed away this past year, to offer for them the
most effective prayer, the Eucharistic sacrifice.
ALL SAINTS DAY
On Friday, November 1st, we celebrate the solemnity of All
Saints which directs our thoughts and minds to those who share
the glory of God in heaven. From the beginning of Christianity
faith in eternal life was for all Christians a source of strength in
daily persecutions and even tortures. Millions of people attend
Mass on All Saints Day and visit cemeteries which are filled
with votive candles which serves as a living testimony of faith
in eternal life of our contemporary generation.
On this day we pray to all the saints, but especially to our
patron saint. Please attend Mass according to our bulletin
schedule.
ALL SOULS DAY
All Souls Day is dedicated to all the deceased people in purgatory, and is considered their Christmas. As they cannot earn
merit for themselves, they are totally dependent on prayers
from family and friends. The existence of purgatory and temporal punishment is the core of the Church’s teaching and fundamental principle of eternal justice of God.
It is a time to offer prayers, Masses and acts of charity in
their intentions, e.g. receive the sacrament of the Eucharist.
Plenary indulgence may be offered for a particular soul in purgatory, once a day beginning on All Saints afternoon by visiting
the cemetery of the Basilica and offering prayers in the intention of the Holy Father. Partial indulgence may be obtained as
many times as you visit the cemetery of the Basilica during the
Octave of All Souls Day.
We have a beautiful tradition that Masses will be offered for
the souls whose names were submitted on the wypominki envelopes.
We still have some weekday Masses available for 2013.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
The Knights of Columbus annual Turkey Drive to help
those in need will be held during the weekend of Nov., 9 &
10th. We ask our parishioners to consider helping our less
fortunate as they have in the past.

NOVENA AND DEVOTION TO SAINT JOSEPH
On Wednesday, October 30th at 7:00pm we will celebrate
the Votive Mass to Saint Joseph followed by the Novena. St.
Thomas Aquinas, the angelic doctor who died in 1274 said,
“Some saints are privileged to extend to us their patronage with
a particular efficacy in certain needs, but not in others. However, our Holy Patron, St. Joseph has the power to assist us in
all cases, in every necessity, in every undertaking”. Many
saints throughout the Catholic Church attest to the truth of this
statement. E.g., St. Teresa of Avila, of the 16th century, who
had a great devotion to St. Joseph officially stated, that his powerful intercession delivered her from all her troubles of life.
Every Wednesday, we are offered the opportunity to present
to St. Joseph our petitions and our needs.
Please print your intentions legibly on the request forms
available in the Our Lady of Czestochowa Chapel and place
them in the box provided. Your intentions will be offered silently or aloud as per your wishes.
We are grateful for the offerings you submit together with
your intentions.

PILGRIMAGE TO POLAND
An informational orientation meeting for all interested in the
125th Anniversary Pilgrimage to Poland, scheduled for June 24
-July 5, 2014, will be held on Tuesday, October 29th at
7:00pm in the school cafeteria.
The agenda will include details of various social and cultural
events in which we will participate, the meaning of places we
visit, personal preparations, shopping opportunities, etc. A
travel agent will be available to answer all your questions.

on life eternal. We all hope for eternal salvation and joy after

guests are invited to join with women around the diocese on
November 2 at the DCU Center, 50 Foster Street, Worcester in
this daylong event featuring presentations and works on
women’s maturing spirituality. Sponsored by the diocesan
Commission for Women it will feature keynote speakers
ValLimar Jansen, and Teresa Tomeo. Workshop sessions will
provide additional opportunities to expand spiritual awareness
and growth. The day will close with Mass celebrated by

TRZYDZIESTA NIEDZIELA ZWYKŁA

"Modlitwa biednego przeniknie obłoki i nie ustanie, aż dojdzie do celu.
Nie odstąpi ona, aż wejrzy Najwyższy i ujmie się za
sprawiedliwymi" (Syr 35, 17-18a)
„Kto się uniża, będzie wywyższony” – mówi
Jezus. To trudne słowa, bo niekiedy łatwo
przychodzi nam się uniżyć, lecz owo uniżenie
wcale nie prowadzi do wywyższenia. Czasem
można zakładać przed Bogiem maskę nędzarza,
ale trudno pokazać Mu swoją prawdziwą twarz
i być pokornym. Uniżenie, do którego wzywa nas Jezus, ma swoje
źródło w dziecięctwie Bożym. To postawa stanięcia w prawdzie, która
przywraca nam ludzką godność i ostatecznie nas wywyższa. Najpierw
trzeba zobaczyć swoją wielkość daną przez Boga, a dopiero potem
małość. Prawdy o nas uczy nas Eucharystia. Ona nas przemienia
i pokazuje, że bez niej jesteśmy bezradni.
Druga kolekta w przyszła niedzielę będzie przeznaczona
na Zobowiązania Diecezjalne.
PROCESJA NA CMENTARZU
Dzisiejszej niedzieli, godz. 14:00 odbędzie się doroczna procesja
związana z obchodni uroczystości Wszystkich Świętych i Dniem
Zaduszanym. Jest to szczególny dzień, w którym wszyscy parafianie i
przyjaciele Bazyliki św. Józefa łącza się we wspólnej modlitwie za
tych wszystkich, z którymi dzieliliśmy nasze życie. Wszyscy
członkowie organizacji parafialnych są proszeni o udział w procesji.
Niech nasza modlitwa i zapalone znicze będą wyrazem szczególnej
pamięci dla naszych zmarłych.
Wypominki to bardzo ważny element naszej duchowej łączności ze
zmarłymi. Świadomość tego, że wszyscy na tym świecie ulegamy
słabościom każe nam również pamiętać o duszach zmarłych, które
odbywają czasowa karę w czyśćcu. Dlatego też tuż po Uroczystości
Wszystkich Świętych obchodzimy tzw. Dzień Zaduszny, kiedy to
modlimy się za wszystkich zmarłych prosząc Boga o miłosierdzie nad
nimi. Tradycyjną formą tej modlitwy są „Wypominki”. Prosimy o
przekazywanie imion zmarłych, za których będziemy się modlić w
czasie specjalnych Mszy w Dzień Zaduszny, jak również podczas
Mszy w ciągu całego roku. Prosimy o czytelne pisanie imion
zmarłych, za których będziemy się modlili.
UROCZYSTOŚĆ WSZYSTKICH ŚWIĘTYCH
W piątek , 1 listopada obchodzimy Uroczystość Wszystkich
Świętych. W dniu tym kierujemy nasze myśli i serca ku tym, którzy
oglądają chwałę Boga w niebie . Od początku chrześcijaństwa wiara w
życie wieczne była dla wszystkich chrześcijan źródłem siły w
chwilach prześladowań, tortur czy niebezpieczeństwa śmierci za wiarę.
Miliony ludzi uczestniczy tego dnia we Mszy świętej, odwiedza
cmentarze, które są wypełnione światłem zniczy i kwitnących
kwiatów, na świadectwo wiary w życie wieczne. W tym dniu modlimy
się o wstawiennictwo do wszystkich świętych, a szczególnie do
naszego patrona. Zapraszamy do wspólnej modlitwy.
KORONAKA DO MIŁOSIERDZIA BOŻEGO
W pierwszą niedzielę miesiąca modlimy się do Miłosierdzia Bożego
o szczególnych łask jak również i te, których potrzebujemy w naszym
życiu codziennym. Serdecznie zapraszamy, aby dołączyć do nas o
godz. 15:00 w czasie odmawiania Koronki do Miłosierdzia Bożego,
która zakończy się błogosławieństwem Najświętszym Sakramentem.
DZIEŃ ZADUSZNY
Dla wszystkich osób zmarłych w czyśćcu , Dzień Zaduszny jest jak
Boże Narodzenie. Jako , że nie mogą sami gromadzić zasług dla siebie,
są oni całkowicie zależni od modlitwy bliskich, krewnych i przyjaciół.
Istnienie czyśćca i kary za grzechy jest podstawą nauczania Kościoła i
podstawową zasadą sprawiedliwości Bożej. Zaduszki to jest czas, aby
kiedy możemy ofiarować nasze modlitwy, Msze św. i dobre uczynki i
Komunię Św. za tych, którzy są w czyśćcu. Odpust cząstkowy można
uzyskać poprzez pobożne nawiedzenie cmentarza lub kościoła w
czasie oktawy Dnia Zadusznego i spełnić warunki do który należy
modlitwa za spokój duszy konkretnej osoby oraz brak przywiązania do
grzechu, czyli jeśli to konieczne również odbyta wcześniej spowiedź.
Msze św. w Zaduszki będą sprawowane za zmarłych wspominanych
w Wypominkach. Można również zamówić Msze świętą za naszych
bliskich zmarłych. W kalendazru na rok 2013 pozostało jeszcze kilka
wolnych Mszy w dni powszednie.
PIERWSZY PIĄTEK MIESIĄCA
W najbliższy piątek, 1 listopada przypada pierwszy piątek miesiąca.
Po tej Mszy św. o godz. 7:00 jak zwykle wystawienie i adoracja
Najświętszego Sakramentu, która potrwa do godz. 15:00 i zostanie
zakończona Koronką do Miłosierdzia Bożego. Prosimy członków
wszystkich organizacji parafialnych do adoracji w ustalonych
godzinach. Msza św. po polsku o godz. 19:00. Pół godzimy przed
Mszą możliwość spowiedzi. O godz. 16:15 Różaniec w intencji
zmarłych polecanych w corocznych wypominkach.
Przy tej okazji warto przypomnieć, co ze sobą niesie to szczególne
nabożeństwo, jaka jest jego historia i co się z nim wiąże. Główna
zasługa w rozpowszechnianiu się nabożeństwa do Najświętszego Serca
Pana Jezusa przypada skromnej zakonnicy, św. Małgorzacie Marii
Alacoque (1647-1690). Pan Jezus dał św. Małgorzacie Alacoque
dwanaście obietnic, dotyczących czcicieli Jego Serca:
Dam im łaski, potrzebne w ich stanie. Ustalę pokój w ich rodzinach.
Będę ich pocieszał w utrapieniach. Będę ich pewną ucieczką w życiu, a
szczególnie w godzinę śmierci. Będę im błogosławił w ich
przedsięwzięciach. Grzesznicy znajdą w mym Sercu źródło i ocean
miłosierdzia. Dusze oziębłe staną się gorliwymi. Dusze gorliwe prędko
dojdą do doskonałości. Będę błogosławił domom, w których wizerunek
Serca mojego będzie czczony. Osoby, które będą to nabożeństwo
rozszerzały, będą miały imię swoje wypisane w Sercu moim. 10. Dam
kapłanom dar wzruszania serc nawet najzatwardzialszych. W
nadmiarze miłosierdzia Serca mojego przyrzekam tym wszystkim,
którzy będą komunikować w pierwsze piątki miesiąca przez dziewięć
miesięcy z rzędu w intencji wynagrodzenia że miłość moja udzieli łaskę
pokuty, iż nie umrą w mojej niełasce, ani bez Sakramentów świętych, a
Serce moje będzie im pewną ucieczką w ostatniej godzinie życia.
REMEMBERANCE MASS
Doroczna Rememberance Mass za naszych parafian, którzy przeszli
do wieczności od listopada 2012 r. do października 2013 r. zostanie
odprawiona w sobotę 2 listopada o godz. 08:30. Serdecznie
zapraszamy całą Wspólnotę Bazyliki św. Józefa, zwłaszcza członków
rodzin, których bliscy odeszli w tym roku.
NABOŻEŃSTWO RÓŻAŃCOWE
Różaniec za zmarłych
Tradycyjnie w październiku spotykamy się na wspólnym różańcu.
Od poniedziałku do piątku o godz. 19:00. W środy różaniec jest
połączony z Nowenną do św. Józefa. W soboty różaniec odmawiany
jest przed Mszą o godz. 16:00, a w niedziele po Mszy św. o godz.
11:00. Począwszy od 1 listopada będziemy odmawiali Różaniec za
zmarłych, których wspominamy w corocznych wypominkach (1 i 2
listopada o godz. 18:15 przed polską Mszą św.).
