The Letters of Paul to the Thessalonians
are among his earliest writings and are driven
by his belief and the belief of the entire early
Christian community that the return of Christ
was imminent. Therefore, to devote time or
attention to anything else was foolish.
As time progressed, this fervor receded a bit. Today we may
wonder, when we hear these readings about the coming endtimes, if we should take them to heart. What should we do
when we hear that the day of the Lord will come upon us “like
a thief at night”? Does this mean we are to stop our long-range
goal-setting, get rid of our yearly calendars and planners, or
stop putting money in the college education fund? Of course
not. What it does mean is that we need to change our lives,
living like children of the light and illuminating the world
around us with the light of the gospel. Then, on that day, when
the details of our daily living become unimportant, we will be
ready to find our peace and security in Christ Jesus.
The second collection this week is to assist victims
of the Middle East violence.
Second collection next weekend (Nov. 22 & 23) is designated for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION WEEK
Beginning on November 16th we will observe Religious
Education Week which originated with parishes in the Diocese
of Worcester and is now celebrated throughout New England
and beyond. This year’s theme is “Teaching about God’s Gift
of Forgiveness”.
Today our catechetical team of teachers will be introduced at
the 9:30am Liturgy. We are grateful to all of our dedicated
volunteers for their knowledge, concern and assistance to our
youngsters who faithfully attend religious education classes.

NOVENA AND DEVOTION TO ST. JOSEPH
We encourage all parishioners and friends to strengthen their
devotional life by asking our Patron, St. Joseph for his help in
our particular needs. Wednesday, evening, November 19th at
7:00pm is an opportune time to seek favors through the intercession of St. Joseph.
Please join the Lectors of our parish ministry who will carry
our Patron’s statue into the sanctuary. As always, we are
thankful for your petitions and offerings.
BINGO
All parishioners and friends are invited to Bingo which will
be held in the St. Joseph School cafeteria every Friday night.
Please join us on November 21st for an enjoyable evening and
the opportunity to win over $1700 plus door prizes. Doors
open at 5:00pm and the games begin at 6:45pm. Delicious food
will be available with free coffee. Proceeds will benefit our
parish and our school.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS–will hold an open house for
prospective members on Wednesday, Dec. 3rd at 6:30pm in the
St. Joseph School Conference Room. We invite men to join
this largest fraternal organization in the country who do so
much for the Church, seminarians and the needy in this country
and abroad.
Our local Chapter #12980 is helping St. Joseph School and
the parish. We witness the renaissance of interest across our
land and the world about this organization. We invite all interested to join to be introduced to the First Degree Ceremony
within the next month. Literature will be available for those
who would like to learn more about this distinguished organization. We look forward to see you on December 3rd.
MEGA RAFFLE Drawing is only three weeks away. We
are grateful to a large number of parishioners who positively
responded to this important fund raiser. In participating in this
campaign you are helping the parish and at the same time you
have the opportunity to be a lucky winner in the drawing.
Tickets are $25 each or 3 for $50: First prize-$4,000; Second prize $300; Third prize $200. Drawing will be held on
Saturday, December 6th in the St. Joseph School cafeteria, following the 4:00pm Family Mass and Annual Lighting of the
Christmas Tree.
All income generated from this fundraiser will be applied to
our Parish Obligations to the Diocese. Thank you for your
stewardship.

SCHOOL NEWS
This past week our students paid tribute to our Veterans during a special program. Guest speaker was Marion Winters who
recalled his exploits of serving our country as a bombardier
pilot during World War II. The students were held in awe and
gave Mr. Winters a standing ovation. Thank you Mr. Winters
for sharing your daring and heroic experiences.
On this occasion, Mr. Winters donated $100 as a token of his
support for the new gymnasium. Bóg Żapłać.
St. Joseph School has open enrollment all year long for
grades Pre-K to G8. If you are interested in enrolling your child
to SJS you may participate in the shadowing program during
our school hours.
On Tues., Nov. 25th the SJS family will celebrate Thanksgiving Day. Any family who is seriously considering enrolling a student is welcome to dinner at 11:30am in the SJS
school cafeteria. A delicious meal will be prepared by the
school chef and served by the faculty. Please call the school
to set a day and time.
Winter Sports Season - has begun and practices are being
held at the Webster Middle School. Please support these dedicated athletes as they represent our school.

Annual SJS Christmas Pageant - will be held on Sun., Dec.
14 at Bartlett High School Auditorium.

THE CATHOLIC CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN
DEVELOPMENT
The (CCHD) has come to the aid of communities nationwide
for over 40 years in an effort to eradicate poverty. This year’s
theme is “working on the margins”. Projects supported by
CCHD move beyond providing for basic needs. They work to
build healthy, sustainable futures for communities.
This collection is the primary source of funding for antipoverty grants and education programs. Twenty-five percent of
the collection stays here in our diocese to fight poverty in our
communities and defend the dignity of our neighbors.

OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST THE KING
The solemnity of Christ the King, which closes the liturgical
year will be celebrated next Sunday, November 23rd after the
11:00am Mass with the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. It
is an opportunity for all the faithful of St. Joseph Basilica to
participate in the Eucharistic adoration from 12 noon to 3:00pm
followed by devotional service.
We request the organization and parish ministries to come as
a group at the following times: Parish Council and Knights of
Columbus 12:30-1:00pm; Sacred Heart Society 1:00 - 1:30pm
Holy Rosary Sodality 1:30—2:00pm; St. Anne Society and St.

Po przejściu ziemskiej pielgrzymki Bóg
będzie nas sądził z wykorzystania darów. On
oczekuje od nas twórczego podzielenia się
tym, co od Niego otrzymaliśmy. Są to
zdolności, szanse i miejsca, w które są dla
nas sposobnością do czynienia dobro. Nie jest zły ten, kto ma
mało, ale ten, kto niczym się nie dzieli. Nasze obdarowanie jest
zawsze wyjątkowe, jedyne, właściwe danemu człowiekowi.
Oznacza to, że w ewangelicznej logice nie ma miejsca na
porównywanie się i rywalizację.
TYDZIEŃ EDUKACJI RELIGIJNEJ
Rozpoczynając od dzisiejszej niedzieli, będziemy obchodzili
Tydzień Edukacji Religijnej, którego początki miały miejsce
najpierw w diecezji Worcester, a następnie rozprzestrzeniły się
na całą Nową Anglię, a także poza nią. Tegorocznym
obchodom przyświeca hasło: „Nauczanie o Bożym darze
przebaczenia”
Dziś zostaną przedstawieni wszyscy wolontariusze, którzy
służą dzieciom uczęszczającym w naszej parafii na katechezę.
NOWENNA DO ŚW. JÓZEFA
Zachęcamy wszystkich parafian i przyjaciół, aby wzmacniali
swoją pobożność, prosząc naszego patrona, św. Józefa o pomoc
w swoich konkretnych, życiowych potrzebach. Środa wieczór,

Open House dla potencjalnych członków Rycerzy Kolumba
odbędzie się w szkole Świętego Józefa w sali konferencyjnej, w

Uroczystość Chrystusa Króla, która kończy Rok Liturgiczny
będzie obchodzona w najbliższą niedzielę, 23 listopada. Po
Mszy św. o godz. 11:00 rozpocznie się wystawienie
Najświętszego Sakramentu. Jest to okazja dla wszystkich
wiernych, Bazyliki św. Józefa aby uczestniczyć w Adoracji
Eucharystycznej od 12:00 w południe do 15:00.

Catholic Campaign for Human Development od ponad 40
lat wspiera wspólnoty w całym kraju w celu eliminowania
ubóstwa. Tegoroczny temat to "Praca na marginesie".
Projekty wspierane przez CCHD wychodzą poza zapewnienie
podstawowych potrzeb. Mają na celu budowanie zdrowej z
zrównoważonej przyszłości dla społeczności.
Dzisiejsza zbiórka ta jest głównym źródłem finansowania
walki z ubóstwem i do wspierania programów edukacyjnych.
Dwadzieścia pięć procent zebranej kwoty pozostaje w naszej
diecezji, aby walczyć z ubóstwem w naszych wspólnotach i
bronić godności naszych sąsiadów.
