TWENTY-SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
October 4, 2009
Let the children come to me;
do not prevent them, for the kingdom of God
belongs to such as these. -Mark 10:14
He Embraced Them and Blessed Them. Today Jesus stresses
how children embody the reign of God. They are trusting and
loving and have hearts that are open to love. They are joyful when
they are made aware of God's love for them, and are eager to
return that love. This is the model Jesus holds out to us if we want
to welcome the reign of God. We need to have open, loving
hearts. We must drop our defenses, however we came by them,
and welcome Christ's love for us with joy. This is impossible for
us on our own. Only the grace of God will enable us to do this,
which is freely and generously given. We have only to accept it.
The second collection this weekend is for the Diocesan Obligations
Next weekend the collection is design ated for Phase III
THE MONTH OF OCTOBER - ROSARY MONTH
Rosary devotions are deeply routed in the history of the Catholic
Church but especially in Polish tradition. The
month of October is dedicated to the prayers
of the rosary. In the rosary we reflect on the
mystery of life, death and resurrection of Jesus
/ Christ. All the popes had a special devotion to
the Blessed Mother and prayed the rosary
faithfully, privately and publicly. Pope Paul
VI in his encyclical Marialis Cultus stated The Rosary is a biblical and evangelical
prayer and is a contemplation of the mystery
of the history of our salvation. I encourage all
the faithful to pray the rosary during the month of October at
homes and in church.
Schedule of devotions:
Sundays - following the 11 am Mass
Wednesdays - 7 pm in English
Fridays - 7 pm in Polish
Tuesdays and Thursdays - 6:30 pm at St. Andrew Bobola
Church - bilingual
1p.m.
SACRIFICIAL OFFERING - September 27, 2009
Weekly-$4220 (incl. $280 in loose money); Diocesan Obligations
$65; Fuel-$433; CCD-$194; Appeal for Catholic Schools $1384.
Stewardship Note. "Stewardship" is the way in which you handle what
God has given to you. You want to be a good steward of His blessings, but
stewardship means much more than being wise with your money and then
throwing a few bucks into the offering plate. Stewardship involves
realizing that everything you have comes from God. Stewardship requires
that you give to God the first fruits, not the leftovers. And you should
consider stewardship a privilege, not a chore. God won't force you to give
back a portion of what He has given to you, but He promises to bless you
if you do.
There is a good barometer for telling how you feel about God: money.
This isn't about how much you give. God is more interested in your
attitude about giving than the amount you give. Your attitude about money
reveals much about your relationship with God.
FAMILY MASS
This Sunday at 9:30 a.m. we celebrate the Family Mass and
installation of the Educational Board and Home School
Association. After the Mass all the parents and children are invited
for a social at the 200 Sportsmen's Club. Parishioners are welcome
to join us any time in the afternoon.
RESPECT LIFE SUNDAY
Respect
Life
Sunday
...
October 4th has been designated as Respect
Life Sunday. Blessed Mother Teresa of
Calcutta said "Human rights are not a privilege
conferred by government. They are every
human being's entitlement by virtue of his humanity. The right to
life does not depend, and must not be declared to be contingent, on
the pleasure of anyone else, not even a parent or a sovereign."
Please pray for an end to abortion and for all the families affected
by it.
October 4, 2009 - 4 azdziernik 2009 r.
In addition, we will address the water problems which are causing
a flood in a section of the church basement. In place of the small
DIVINE MERCY NOVENA
basin near the sacristy a large catch basin will be installed similar
This Sunday, October 4th we will pray the chaplet to the Divine
to the one in the parking lot which will allow the water to flow to
Mercy at 3 p.m. It is an hour of prayer for needed graces in our life
the parking lot or to the side of the church. In addition, along the
or that of our loved ones. It was revealed to Sr. Faustina that "...at
side of the church, new pipes and a basin will be installed. During
three o-clock implore my mercy This is the hour of great mercy
the construction we kindly ask that you use the main entrance to the
for the whole world.. In this hour I will refuse nothing to the soul
church.
that makes a request of Me in virtue of My Passion."

NOVENA OF MASSES TO ST. JOSEPH
Every Wednesday at 6:30 a.m. we celebrate the votive Mass to
our patron, St. Joseph. Everyone has the opportunity to insert
his/her personal intentions during the prayer of the faithful.
St. Joseph is the patron of the universal church. Many
conventions in different countries, lectures, and churches under his
name are a clear indication of the effective intercession of St.
Joseph. I kindly ask the parishioners to set aside every Wednesday
at 6:30 a.m. and come to Mass to pray to God and entreat God's
blessing in a particular intention which is dear to us.

heart be light, and may God bless you with good health always!
PHASE III
We are still in the process of doing the maintenance work on the
rectory. Metal flashings on over 50 windows were installed which
will never require painting. This installation saves a substantial
amount of money and eliminates cleaning and painting of the old
wooden frames. Since the windows on the third floor are quite
ornate and would require custom work we agreed to forego the
metal flashing and just give them a fresh look.
The work on the sidewalks by the church will begin next week.
The present concrete sidewalk will be replaced with paving stones.
