Stewardship Note. "There is a boy here who has five barley loaves
and two fish; but what good are these for so many?" (John 6:9)
The miracle of the Loaves and Fishes is the only one of Our Lord's
miracles which is recorded six times in the Gospel. It carries two
important messages. First, no matter how little we have, we always
have enough to share. In this age when some people have a net
worth equal to the gross national product of small nations, how do
you know when you have enough? Some might think that having
a certain amount of money will make you feel secure, but that will
never happen. If your contentment is tied to your net worth you
could have a zero balance or millions and you still would never feel
that you have enough. In the life of a person there is a time to
collect and a time to give away. The question is at which point in
your life you stop collecting and begin giving away so you could
die rich in the eyes of God? The only way to reach personal
satisfaction is to have a generous heart filled with faith regardless
how much or how little you have. If you cling to your possessions
they will never satisfy you. You always thirst for more. If you share
them with others you will always have enough.
SEVENTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
July 26, 2009
The eyes of all look hopefully to you,
and you give them their food in due
season. Psalm 145:15
Weekly Miracle. This week marks the
beginning of a kind of "liturgical
detour." We have been listening to Saint
Mark's Gospel during this liturgical year
(Year B). Today we begin to hear a long section from
John's Gospel, starting with the miracle of the
multiplication of the loaves and fishes. This miracle story is
a prelude to the Lord's statements that we will begin
hearing in a few weeks, where Jesus refers to himself as the
"bread of life." Each week we witness a miracle at Mass.
We do not see a multiplication of loaves before us. What
our eyes of faith allow us to see is the miracle of the
transformation of common elements—bread and wine—into
the Lord's body and blood. Once we have received the
Lord, the multiplication begins, for in the Eucharist we are
strengthened to multiply our efforts to feed the poor, shelter
the homeless, and bring comfort to the despairing.

SAINT ANNE FEAST DAY
We welcome to the 8:15 a.m. liturgy
this Sunday morning the members of
? -- the St. Anne Society. Following the
• Mass members are invited to the Parish
Conference Room for a short meeting
and refreshments.
The St. Anne Society is a spiritual
organization of St. Joseph Basilica. For
many years Loretta Kwasniewski
served as president ofthis organization.
For health reasons Loretta wants to step
down as president. I want to use this
.P' opportunity to thank her for her
dedication, service and loyalty to the
parish. Her sensitivity to the needs of the Basilica was clearly
visible in many donations and fund raisers for the Church. I want
to thank her daughter and her sister Mary for supporting her in her
leadership. May God bless you, Loretta!
St. Anne is the patroness of Christian mothers. In this day and age
when motherhood, Christianity, morals and the very foundation of
society are under attack, mothers are much in need of heavenly
patrons. It is because we have been entrusted with such a blessed
vocation, one that has such great influence over others, we are in
need of grace, support and guidance everyday and who better to
turn to than St. Anne. Realizing the great duty she has in rearing
her
children well, the Catholic mother will daily recommend her
children to God and pray especially to St. Anne for the gift of
imparting to them a good training, the highest and most difficult of
all arts.

ATTENTION GOLFERS AND FRIENDS
It's hard to believe but this year's golf tournament which directly
benefits St. Joseph School Athletics will be our 10" Annual. Last
year's event at the Dudley Hill Golf Club (Nichols) was one of the
most successful in recent years so we will be back there again on
Saturday, September 26t1, with a 1:00 pm shotgun start.
Immediately following the golfing will be a full steak dinner,
including appetizers, and raffle at the PAV at approximately 6:30
pm. The cost this year for golf, cart, player gift and dinner is $100.
The success of this event each year has been critical to supplying
our young athletes with the equipment they need to learn their sport
in a clean and safe environment and at a very reasonable price to
our athletes' families. You may also join us for the dinner only for
just $20. Please call Craig Holmberg at 508-331-6915 to get a
signup sheet or if you have any questions at all. The tournament
committee would also like you to know that many sponsorship
opportunities are available and raffle items including bottles of
cheer, golf items, gift certificates, etc. are always accepted and
appreciated. Please go to our website
www.tournevents.com/eagles 10th to get more information, sign up
on line, become a sponsor or just to check out the photos from
previous years. All are welcome and encouraged to come out for a
day of fun. The number of teams is limited so please sign up soon.

UPDATE ON GYM AND PARISH CENTER COMMITTEES
The second Alumni Research Committee meeting was held on
Thursday, July 23. We are still in need of 25 year and beyond
high school Graduation Reunion brochures from the graduation
classes of 1932 and on, that provide alumni address information. At
present we have Bartlett High School Reunion brochures from the
classes of 1956, 1957, 1958 and 1963. Please provide reunion
brochures, list of names, or names of class reunion committee
members, to Mrs. Jane Gogolinski @ 508-943-5963.
The next meeting will be on August 201h at 6 pm. I am grateful to
those who have helped and I kindly ask parishioners to join for the
next meeting or volunteer your services by calling Mrs. Jane
Gogolinski. The success of this committee and the entire project
depends on the enthusiastic cooperation of all.
John and Jane Gogolinski Chairpersons
ST. JOSEPH SCHOOL FESTIVAL
I am pleased to report the gross income from the festival was
$75,321.90. The net income is $34,782.35. Despite the shortened
days of the festival the income exceeded significantly over last
year. Once again, we express our gratitude to all the chairpersons,
workers and the parishioners who supported this very important
fund raiser for the school.
HEALTH CARE REFORM ACTION ALERT
The U.S. Bishops Conference is calling upon Catholics to
communicate to their elected representatives in the U.S. Senate and
Congress the message that "A fair and just health care reform bill
must exclude mandated coverage for abortion, and uphold
longstanding laws that restrict abortion funding and protect
conscience rights." To learn more about this critical issue and to
contact your elected officials visit www.nchla.org and clock on
"Health Care Reform Action Alert." Please act in defense of human
life and dignity today!

PASSION PLAY AT OBERAMMERGAU
A nine-day trip to Austria and the Oberammergau Passion Play is
planned from August 3-11, 2010 by Rev. Thomas Tokarz of Gardner
MA. An informational meeting will be held on Thursday, September 10,
2009 at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph Church hail in Gardner. For additional
information please call Father Tom at 978-632-0375.
PILGRIMAGE TO DOYLESTOWN
The Solemnity of Our Lady of Czestochowa is always associated with
a pilgrimage to the Doylestown shrine in Pennsylvania. This year the
solemn Mass will be held on August 23rd To address all the logistics
with this pilgrimage it would be important to know how many people
are interested. To express your participation please call the rectory
before August 2nd The price will be approximately $40 per person. The
bus would leave Webster at 5:30 a.m. and return around 10 p.m.
A pilgrimage has biblical roots and traditional meaning. It is a symbol
of life's journey to a certain goal. The perils of the road, support of
companions, the contemplative slower pace of life have the potential to
transform and renew the participants. Pilgrimages in the history of the
Catholic Church are always undertaken for spiritual reasons to obtain
needed graces and expiation for sins. The pilgrimage to Doylestown is
a great opportunity to offer our time and inconveniences of travel for a
particular grace which is known only to God.
PHASE III
We are pleased to inform you that this Sunday we received $2560 and
$1850 in pledges. Together with previous contributions we have
$13,334 and $8050 in pledges. May God bless all the donors who
recognize the physical needs of the parish.
At the present time we are in consultation with the diocese to address
the issue of the water and the landscaping around the church.

KOMENTARZ EWANGELICZNY.
Cud romnozenia chlebajest bardzo zananym obrazem uzywanym
przez artystoW malarzy, ktorzy w bardzo obrazowy sposob
ukazuja Chrystusa ktory troszczy sie o dobra materialne ludzi.
Aby nakarmic kilku tysieczny tium Chrystus posluzyl sie ofiara
pieciu chieboW i dWoch ryb malego chlopca.
Powstaje pytanie ile trzeba miec aby sie dzielic? W czasie kiedy
bankowe portfolio u niektorych ludzi jest Wieksze niz caly
budzet niektorych malych krajow, kiedy zatem mozna
powiedziec ze juz to wystarczy. Niektorzy uwazaja ze w
pienadzach jest bezpieczenstwo, I znowu powstaje pytanie ile
potrzeba miec posiadlosci materialnych aby czuc sie
bezpiecznym. Jezeli Wartosci materialne decyduja o zadowoleniu
to ten co ma miliony jest na rowno nie zadowolony z em co
niema nic. Sekretem szczescia i zadowolenia jest dawanie
niezaleznie czy jestesmy biedni czy bogaci.
Drugie pytanie jest kiedy jest lascwy czas aby sie dzielic? W
zyciujest czas na zbieranie I czas na rozdawanie. Kazdy W zyciu
musi rozpoznac kiedy jest we wlasciwym qWieku bo rosdawac,
aby umrzec bogaty w oczach Bozych. Jezeli rozdajemy zawsze
bedziemy miec wystarczajaca ilosc.
TRZECIA FAZA POPRAWY BUDYNKOW PARAFIALNYCH.
