TWENTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARYTIME
August 17, 2014
Observe what is right, do what is just; for my salvation is
about to come, my justice, about to be revealed.
- Isaiah 56:1
CALLED TO ACT IN GOD’S NAME
“Let all the nations praise you!” today’s
psalm response exclaims. In the psalms and
other Hebrew scriptures, this kind of invocation is actually an invitation to God to act,
to intervene in human lives in a manner that
will cause everyone—not just the Chosen People—to give
praise. Stated a bit more strongly, it is something of a “put up
or shut up” challenge to God, the sort of strong statement the
psalmists of Israel, trusting in their intimate and loving relationship with God, were not afraid to make.
The Gospel has its own exclamation, announcing the appearance of the Canaanite woman with “Behold!” “Behold!” is a
scriptural flag that tells us that God is about to act or announce
something through an individual or a situation. In the case of
Jesus, God was going to act through this woman, whom nobody among Jesus’ followers would have believed to be an
agent of the divine will. Like the psalmists, we might passively
inform or perhaps even actively challenge God to do something
so that everyone will come to belief, but God will always turn
the tables on us. It becomes our calling, our duty (as it was for
Jesus) to behold the situations and persons of our daily lives so
that God can act through us, so the Kingdom can be announced
through our living.
The second collection this weekend is for the Church in
Central and Eastern Europe.
Next weekend we have scheduled an additional second collection to supplement our Diocesan Obligations.
HARVEST FESTIVAL/DOZYNKI
REMINDER: Today Sunday, Aug. 17th at 11:00am Mass
we will begin the celebration of Dozynki with the blessing of
the Harvest Wreath for our bountiful crops. The bilingual Mass
will be followed by a picnic in the parking area until 2:00pm.
We invite parishioners and friends to join us for PolishAmerican Food, music for entertainment, activities for children,
money raffle, etc. Proceeds will be used toward the reduction
of our Diocesan Obligations.
CEMETERY UPDATE
We are pleased to report that the grub control treatment at the
cemetery has been completed this past Monday. With this
week’s rain (which was an important component) the condition
of the lots should show some improvement.

END OF FISCAL YEAR
As the end of our diocesan fiscal year approaches on August
31, 2014, I would like to gratefully acknowledge your
contributions to our regular Sunday collections as well as Fuel,
Diocesan Obligations, Partners in Charity and other diocesan
collections.
Every year we report to you the amount of our Parish debt
which is due to the Diocese in the form of diocesan obligations.
I was very proud that for the last few years we did not add to
this debt and achieved stability. However, as the end of this FY
approaches we are coming a little short. That is why I kindly
ask you for one more effort to contribute to next weekend’s
special Diocesan collection. I turn especially to those who for
some reason did not support diocesan obligations to please help
us be current and eventually pay off our older bills.
The Diocese is in charge of negotiating the rates and handling
all kinds of insurances. Then, they bill each parish for their pro
-rated share. These insurances include the public liability
insurance, workers’ comp insurance, equipment insurance,
property (buildings) insurance, full-time employee health
insurance, contributions towards pension plan and custodial
care fund. They send a separate bill to every church, every
school, and every cemetery. On our parish bill the Diocese also
includes a 7.5% tax on all our collections. These items total
about $6,000 monthly – the bill may change slightly from
month to month but the total annual cost is over $70,000. The
net income from Dozynki will be dedicated to Diocesan
obligations as well as the proceeds from the second special
collection on August 23 & 24. This year up-to-date we raised
almost $37,000, we need to make up the balance from the
regular Sunday income. The next year estimated total bill by the
diocese will be closer to $80,000. The Diocese then on our
behalf pays for all those insurances. If you don’t contribute to
this collection because maybe you don’t understand its purpose
fully, please call our Financial Secretary for details.
I am wholeheartedly grateful for your continuous support of
our parish.

KRONIKA PARAFIALNA
DWUDZIESTA NIEDZIELA ZWYKŁA
17 sierpnia 2014
„Zachowujcie prawo i przestrzegajcie sprawiedliwości, bo moje
zbawienie już wnet nadejdzie i moja sprawiedliwość ma się
Czasem, gdy wołamy w udręce do Boga,
On zdaje się „nie odzywać do nas ani
słowem” – tak jak Jezus zdawał się być
obojętny na wołanie kobiety kananejskiej.
Łatwo wówczas zwątpić w Bożą miłość
i zniechęcić się. Kobieta prosząca o uzdrowienie córki odkryła
sekret Serca Jezusa. Przeczuwała, że nie oprze się on modlitwie
zanoszonej z bezgraniczną ufnością i pokorą, dlatego śmiało
i z uporem przedstawiała Mu swoją prośbę.
Przypomnienie. Dziś na Mszy św. o godz. 11:00
rozpoczynamy obchody naszych parafialnych Dożynek. Aby

który symbolizuje dobro, jakie otrzymujemy dzięki pracy
naszych rąk i Bożemu błogosławieństwu. Po Mszy zapraszamy
na piknik, który potrwa do godz. 14:00. Zapraszamy wszystkich
parafian i przyjaciół do wspólnego spędzenia czasu
na dziękczynnej modlitwie i wspaniałej zabawie w rodzinnej

KONIEC ROKU FISKALNEGO
Wraz z zakończeniem 31 sierpnia roku fiskalnego
pragniemy bardzo serdecznie podziękowań wszystkim
parafianom za składane regulanie w ciągu całego roku
ofiary na utrzymanie, pokrycie kosztów energii, Partners in
Charity oraz inne diecezjalne składki. Każdego roku
informujemy o zobowiazaniach jakie mamy względem
Diecezji.
nam teraz spłącić obecne zobowiązania i ewentualnie
również wczesniejsze długi.
Diecezja jest odpowiedzialna za wszelkiego rodzaju
ubezpieczenia i fundusze, które sa obowiązkowe
w parafiach. Każda parafia musi jednak płacić wszystkie
składki, które płacimy co miesiąc. Jest to kwota około
$6000, co w skali roku daje ponad $70000. Obecnie
zebralismy około $37000. Resztę będziemy musieli pokryć
z niedzielnych składek.
Druga kolekta na pokrycie Zobowiązań Diecezjalnych
będzie zbierana w weekend 23/24 sierpnia. Również
dochód z Dożynek w całosci będzie przekazany na ten cel.
Osoby, które chca uzyskać bardziej szczegułowe
informacje prosimy o kontakt z biurem parafialnym.
