RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a process established by the Church for
individuals to become Catholic and receive the Sacraments of Initiation-Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist. If you wish to become Catholic, or are a Baptized Catholic in
need of making your First Communion and/or Confirmation, please call the Religious
Education Office.

THE LORD OF LIFE
At this bountiful time of year, our Sunday
readings teem with life and abundance.
Both the first reading, from the book of
Wisdom and the Gospel passage from Mark
assure us that God did not make death or
even will us to be ill. Illness and death entered the world
through the presence of evil, the Wisdom author tells us.
Mark’s stories of Jesus healing a hemorrhaging woman and
resuscitating a dead little girl make it clear that Jesus is from
God. As the Son of God he does not will that anyone suffer
illness or death. In the face of such power, the second reading,
from Paul’s Second Letter to the Corinthians, provides a stark
contrast. Jesus, who could raise the dead to new life, “though
he was rich, for your sake he became poor”. Our gift of new
life from Christ demands our response in charity.
The second collection is for the Peter’s Pence Collection.
Next weekend’s second collection is designated
for Parish Obligations to the Diocese.
SACRED HEART SOCIETY
We welcome members of the Sacred Heart Society on Sunday, June 28th at 9:00am liturgy for their Annual Communion
Mass followed by the Annual Meeting in the school hall.
Our Basilica’s Sacred Heart Society was established in 1895
for the purpose of promoting devotion to Jesus in the mystery
of His Sacred Heart among the faithful. This organization’s
special concern is spiritual assistance to families of our parish.

FESTIVAL RECAP
This past weekend our parish community all joined hands
and came together to create three days of camaraderie, friendship and fun to benefit our St. Joseph School.
For the first time we had numerous volunteers—parishioners,
parents of school children and high school students who took
upon themselves various tasks. We were able to eliminate the
long kitchen lines.
All of our chairpersons, set a fine example by their tireless dedication and sacrifice of their time to make this a most
successful weekend. We are grateful to our organizing committee—John Gasparik, Artie Hunt, Peter Sirard, Leah Williams
and many, many individuals for their volunteer services.
Congratulations for your commitment and enthusiasm for
a job well done! May God bless each and everyone of you!

PETER’S PENCE COLLECTION
Each year the Catholic Church invites parishioners to participate in the Peter’s Pence Collection in order to be “witnesses
of charity” to our brothers and sister around the world. Your
gifts to this annual collection help our Holy Father, Pope Francis, to support victims of war and natural disasters and others
most in need of assistance.
Around the globe, the Catholic Church struggles to be a visible sign of Christ’s peace: in poor dioceses where many depend on social and pastoral support, in regions where Catholics
are persecuted, and in nations overloaded with refugees or victims of various conflicts.
In addition to your donations, your continued prayers and
outreach will help spread the message of the love of Christ to
those in need.
SOLEMNITY OF SS. PETER AND PAUL
On Monday, June 29th we will observe the Solemnity of the
martyrdom of SS. Peter and Paul. The celebration is of ancient
origin and is one of the higher ranking holy days during the
ecclesiastical year, but it is not a holy day of obligation. On
this day at the Vatican, newly appointed Archbishops receive
the primary symbol of their office, called pallium, from the
Pope.
Day of Indulgence - On this day, St. Joseph Basilica has the
privilege to grant indulgences to the faithful. A plenary indulgence may be obtained under the usual conditions, which
means reception of Communion, confession if needed, a visit to
St. Joseph Basilica and prayer in the intention of the Holy Father. A plenary indulgence may be obtained only once a day
and a partial indulgence as many times as the Basilica is visited
and a prayer is said in the intention of the Holy Father.
NOVENA AND DEVOTION TO ST. JOSEPH
We invite parishioners and friends to join the Knights of
Columbus for the Novena and Devotion to our Patron on
Wednesday, July 1st at 7:00pm. This is an excellent time to
take advantage of the opportunity to request needed graces
through the intercession of our powerful, Patron, St. Joseph.
Please print your intentions legibly and place in the box provided in the Chapel of Our Lady of Czestochowa. Your offerings are appreciated.
FIRST FRIDAY OF THE MONTH
First Friday of the month will be observed on July 3rd. Mass
at 7:00am will be offered for the living members of the Sacred
Heart Sodality and members and parishioners are invited to
attend and recite the usual prayers with the Litany to Sacred
Heart of Jesus.
Scheduled adorers are asked to come for adoration at their
appointed time during the day and conclusion at 3:00pm with
the praying of the Chaplet to the Divine Mercy and Benediction.
Mass in the Polish language will be celebrated at 7:00pm.
St. Joseph Polish Women’s Club - Executive Board will
meet on Tuesday, June 30th at 6:30pm at the home of President, JoAnn Canty.
Polish American Citizens Club-all members are asked to be
present for a meeting on Sunday, June 28th at 1:00pm at the
Harris Street Club.
FORTNIGHT FOR FREEDOM– to be observed through
July 4th when we encourage parishioners to offer special
prayers, such as a rosary or the Chaplet to Divine Mercy, a day
of fasting or acts of reparation. Remember that patriotism
teaches us to “love our country so much that we want it to embrace what is true and good. We want our country to be a place
where human dignity is recognized and respected.
We must be vigilant, lest our freedoms be unduly curtailed for
political reasons.

FRIDAY NIGHT BINGO
On Friday, July 3rd, we invite parishioners, their relatives
and friends to an exciting evening of Bingo in our school
cafeteria. Doors open at 5:00pm, which allows you time to
choose a light snack from our kitchen with a variety of “sweet
treats” and free coffee before the games begin at 6:45pm. We
feature a progressive game which increases each week until a
lucky winner claims the prize.
This week the ladies from St. Joseph Polish Women’s Club
will assist our players. Proceeds benefit our school.

Special Recognition for Organist Robert Wojcik - on Sunday,

have the opportunity to express personal gratitude to our organist,
Robert Wojcik on the occasion of his 10th Anniversary of his dedicated service to our Basilica and St. Joseph School.
This anniversary deserves a special celebration and justifies a
longer vacation. He will travel to Poland to visit family members
and attend to personal matters. Several individuals will substitute at
our masses and devotions.
We ask parishioners to gather after 11:00am mass in the school
cafeteria to wish him an enjoyable vacation and a safe and speedy

World Youth Day 2016 - Pilgrimage to Krakow, Poland July
19 - August 3, 2016. Every two years our young people gather
with the Holy Father in various locations. This tradition began
during the pontificate of Pope John Paul II and has grown in
popularity. The cost is $2500pp in double/twin or triple room
(includes all expenses with three meals a day. Deposit of $500 is
due at signing but not later than July 31st. Remaining balance is
due by January 31, 2016. Applications available at the rectory.

Biadania moje zmieniłeś mi w taniec, Boże mój, Panie, będę Cię wysławiał na wieki. (Ps 30, 12-13)
Tak często dajemy się oszukać szatanowi – ulegamy pokusie, by obarczać Boga odpowiedzialnością za
śmierć, cierpienia i wszystkie nasze nieszczęścia. Księga Mądrości broni niewinności Boga jasną deklaracją:
„Bóg nie uczynił śmierci. Nie cieszy się ze zguby żyjących”. Gdy przełożony synagogi, Jair, pełen nadziei
szedł z Jezusem do umierającej córki, niektórzy mówili: „Twoja córka umarła, nie trudź Nauczyciela”.
A Jezus go zapewnił: „Nie bój się, wierz tylko”. Także my musimy wciąż na nowo wybierać pomiędzy złą
a dobrą nowiną, pomiędzy płaczkami śmierci a Ewangelią Życia.
SACRED HEART SOCIETY
Coroczna Msza wspólnotowa Sacred Heart Society zostanie odprawiona dziś o godz. 9:00. Po Mszy uczestnicy zgromadza się na
spotkaniu w szkolnej kafeterii.
Stowarzyszenie zostało założone w 1895 roku, aby promować nabożeństwo tu czci Serca Jezusowego pośród wiernych. W naszej
parafii SHS poprzez modlitwę i adoracje wspiera naszych parafian w różnorodnych potrzebach duchowych.

FESTIWAL
W ubiegły weekend, jak co roku, w duchu wspólnoty
przeżyliśmy doroczny Festiwal. Wspaniała zabawa i wiele
atrakcji pozwoliły spędzić ten czas zarówno za korzyścią dla
odwiedzających gości jak również dla wsparcia naszej szkoły.
Pragniemy serdecznie podziękować wszystkim, którzy nie
szczędzili trudu i czasu, aby Festiwal najpierw doszedł do
skutku, a potem przez trzy dni pracowali w pocie czoła, by
przybywający goście nie zawiedli się na naszej gościnności.
NOWENNA DO ŚW. JÓZEFA
W najbliższą środę w procesji z figura św. Józefa pójdą
Rycerze Kolumba. Dołączmy do nich w cotygodniowej
Nowennie ku czci naszego Patrona. Każda Nowenna daje nam
wspaniałą możliwość do zaczerpnięcia ze zdrojów Bożej łaski,
których potrzebujemy do naszego rozwoju duchowego, jaki
również w naszych codziennych sprawach.
Zachęcamy do zapisywania przedstawianych Bogu intencji,
tak by mogły być odczytane w czasie nowenny.

W pierwszy piątek miesiąca lipca, jak co miesiąc
gromadzimy się na wspólnotowej i prywatnej adoracji
Najświętszego Sakramentu, która rozpocznie się tuż po Mszy
św. o godz. 7:00 sprawowanej w intencji żywych członków
Sacret Heart Society. Bardzo serdecznie zachęcamy, aby
skorzystać z czasu, kiedy możemy trwać o obecności Jezusa
ukrytego w Eucharystii.
Msza św. po Polsku o godz. 19:00, a pół godziny przed Mszą
możliwość spowiedzi.
RELIGIA
Już teraz zachęcamy wszystkich rodziców do zapisywania
dzieci na zajęcia katechetyczne w przyszłym roku szkolnym.
Jednoczesnie przypominamy, że trosta o odpowiednie
formowanie serc i ducha przyszłych pokoleń Chrzescijan jaest
naszym obowiązkiem wypływającym z troski o umacnianie i
rozszeżanie Królestwa Bożego.
GOŁĄBKI
Po Mszach św. o godz. 16:00 w sobotę oraz o 7:00 i 9:00 w
niedzielę będzie można nabyć gołąbki w cenie $10 za 5 sztuk.
ZBIÓRKA PETER’S PENCE
Każdego roku Kościół Katolicki zaprasza wiernych do
uczestnictwa w Peter’s Pence Colletion, jako „światków
miłosierdzia” dal braci i sióstr na całym świecie. Ofiary
składane na ten cel wspierają Ojca Świętego w pomocy ofiarom
wojen i katastrof naturalnych oraz innych potrzebujących
wsparcia.
Zbiórka Peter’s Pence Colletion w naszej parafii odbywa się
28 czerwcaczyli dzis. Prosimy o hojne wsparcie. Wraz ze
wsparciem finansowym prosimy o osobistą modlitwę
i duchowe wsparcie dla tych, którzy żyją w trudnych
warunkach materialnych, zmagają się prześladowaniami czy tez
muszą z różnorodnych przyczyn opuszczać swój kraj.
PODZIĘKOWANIE
W niedzielę, 19 lipca po Mszy sw. o godz. 11:00 będziemy
mogli wyrazić naszą wdziecznoć naszemu organiscie
Robertowi Wójcik, za 10 lat wspanialej posługi w naszej
Bazylice. Po Mszy spotykamy sie w szkolnej kafetetii aby
osobisvie złożyć my wyrazy uznania i jednocesnie życzyć
powodzenia i Bożego błogosławieństwa na nieco dłuższym
urlopie, n aktory w te wakacje się wybiera.
UROCZYSTOŚĆ ŚW. PIOTRA I PAWŁA
Kościół już od roku 258 obchodził święto obu Apostołów św. Piotra i św. Pawła razem w dniu 29 czerwca,
zarówno na Zachodzie, jak i na Wschodzie, co by wskazywało na powszechne przekonanie, że to był dzień
śmierci obu Apostołów. Taki bowiem był bardzo dawny zwyczaj, że wspomnienia liturgiczne obchodzono w
dniu śmierci męczenników, a od IV w. także dotyczyło to wyznawców.
Uroczystość św. Pawła wraz ze św. Piotrem umieszczono w jednym dniu nie dlatego, aby równać go w
prymacie z pierwszym następcą Chrystusa. Chodziło o podkreślenie, że obaj Apostołowie byli
współzałożycielami gminy chrześcijańskiej w Rzymie, że obaj w tym mieście oddali dla Chrystusa życie
swoje oraz że w Rzymie są ich relikwie i sanktuaria. Ponadto według tradycji istniała opinia, dzisiaj uznawana
za mylną, że obaj Apostołowie ponieśli śmierć męczeńską w jednym dniu i w tym samym roku.
W naszej parafii obchody tej Uroczystości powiązane są z możliwością otrzymania łaski Odpustu. Odpust
zupełny można otrzymać spełniając następujące warunki: przyjęcie komunii św. (spowiedź, jeśli zachodzi taka
potrzeba), nawiedzenie Bazyliki oraz modlitwa w intencji Ojca Św. Odpust ten można uzyskać tylko raz.
Odpust cząstkowy można uzyskać za każdym razem, nawiedzając pobożnie Bazylikę i modląc się w intencji
Ojca św.
