FORERUNNER OF THE LORD
The story of the conception and birth of
John the Baptist is a very human story. His
aged parents, childless, conceive a son in
their old age just as Abraham and Sarah had
conceived Isaac. God’s promise of salvation seems to include
the delayed birth of very extraordinary children!
John was, as the prophet Isaiah says, known to God from his
earliest days, fashioned in the womb of his mother, Elizabeth,
in secret, before anyone but she knew. He was strong in spirit
from before his birth, and he grew to become the most powerful preacher and prophet. He was the chosen forerunner of the
Lord; Elijah the prophet come back to announce the coming of
the Messiah and to prepare the people by a baptism of repentance.

is designated for Peter’s Pence.
Next week’s second collection will be
for the Diocesan Obligations.
SACRED HEART SOCIETY
We welcome the members of the Sacred Heart Society on
Sunday at 8:15am for their annual Communion Mass followed
by breakfast in the cafeteria.
The Sacred Heart Society of St. Joseph Basilica was established in 1895. The purpose of this organization is to promote
the devotion to Jesus in the mystery of His Sacred Heart among
the faithful of our region. Its special concern is spiritual assistance to the families of St. Joseph Parish.
The Sacred Heart Society offers the opportunity to pray together and worship together as an organization on various liturgical festivities of the year.
DOMINICAN SISTERS
Baked goods will be sold by the Dominican Sisters of West
Hartford, CT after all Masses this Saturday and Sunday at the
Basilica main entrance. The proceeds of this sale will be used
to buy medical supplies for the Sisters’ mission to support lepers. Your support is appreciated.
SOLEMNITY OF SS PETER AND PAUL, APOSTLES
On Friday, June 29, we will observe the Solemnity of the
martyrdom of SS Peter and Paul. The celebration is of ancient
origin and is one of the higher ranking holy days during the
ecclesiastical year, but is not a holy day of obligation. On this
day at the Vatican, newly appointed archbishops receive the
primary symbol of their office, called pallium, from the pope.
Day of Indulgence-On this day, St. Joseph Basilica has the
privilege to grant indulgences to the faithful. A plenary indulgence may be obtained under the usual conditions, which
means reception of Communion, confession if needed, a visit to
Saint Joseph Basilica and prayer in the intention of the Holy
Father. A plenary indulgence may be obtained only once a day
and a partial indulgence as many times as the Basilica is visited
and a prayer is said in the intention of the Holy Father.

FESTIVAL RECAP
The 39th St. Joseph Basilica Annual Festival is now history. It was one of the most successful and enjoyable events. We are
grateful first of all to God for the exceptional good weather for all three days and to many of the parishioners, parents of school children and friends who extended a helping hand before, during and after the festival. Special gratitude to the steering committee, Jen
Herbst, Chairperson, Cindi Gardner, Tom and Connie McNally (treasurers), and Chef Artie Hunt.
We are grateful for the services of Norman Rudzinski Excavating Company for the use of his equipment; Frank Piwowarczyk and
Piotr Sochacki who shared their company personnel. Also to Fr. Gregory, Robert Wojcik, our organist, and Eugene Rudnicki for
their countless hours of attending to details.
It was encouraging to see many young people who stepped forward to get involved and it is a good sign that the festival tradition
will be continued for many years. Teachers, parents and children of St. Joseph School and the Piast Group contributed much to the
success of this event. Above all our parishioners deserve the credit for helping, contributing and participating in these three days of
celebration. It was indeed a sign of unity and a spirit of cooperation for the common good to support St. Joseph School. May God
bless you all.

POST FESTIVAL RECEPTION
On Wed., June 27 we invite all chairpersons and volunteers
to meet in the cafeteria at 6:30pm. This will provide the opportunity to recap the events of the past weekend, before they
fade in the haze of history, and discuss ideas and experiences
for future festivals over coffee and refreshments.
JUBILEE COMMITTEE
We were pleased to host several Felician Sisters, mainly
former teachers at our school to meet some of their former
students: Several parishioners joined them and reminisced
about their good old school days at St. Joseph’s. We are
grateful to the following Sisters who graced us with their visit:
Sr. Mary Laureann Alexandrowicz, Sr. Joan Marie Swierzb,
Sr. Joanne Marion Kaminski, Sr. Theresa Marie Grochowski;
Sr. Mary Amandine Zdrok, and Sr. Jacqueline Mary Kazanowski. After a tour of the school the Sisters enjoyed the
hospitality of the St. Joseph parishioners at the festival.
. CHAPLET TO THE DIVINE MERCY
Sunday, July 1st, is the first Sunday of the month and we
will pray the chaplet to the Divine Mercy at 3:00pm followed
by benediction. We encourage parishioners and friends to
come in prayer of thanksgiving, in petition for needed graces
to obtain an understanding and love for God.
BASILICA WORK PROGRESS
The upper level of the Basilica from the Whitcomb St. side is
completed. The stone, brick and granite of the area and the
shining mysteries of the rosary on the bronze doors with the
sculpture of the Good Shepherd blends with the exterior of
the building and creates a beautiful walk way into the Basilica.
Poles will be installed with lights for the wintertime and flowers will be planted in a cascading fashion for the summertime.
The next phase will include the walls and pillars along the
stairs to the street with the railings. We are grateful for this
weeks donations of $320 and we will continue with this work
as funds allow.
DONATIONS
St. Joseph Basilica-our parishioner Bozena Plewa donated
$150 of her festival winnings as thanksgiving to God for her
good fortune. Thank you for remembering your parish community in such a special way.
An anonymous gift of $200 from an alumnus who was visiting with family in Webster.
St. Joseph School Immediate Need Fund-gift of $70 from
the St. Joseph Polish Women’s Club in memory of deceased
members.

SCHOOL IS OUT!
The 2011-2012 school year just concluded on Fri., June 15
with Mass at the Basilica and an Underclassman Recognition
Assembly followed by early release from school. Many
awards were presented to deserving students at that event such
as: honor roll; high honor roll, perfect attendance for the year,
spelling bee champions, Children of Mary awards, band
awards, altar server awards, etc.
Enrollment for 2012-13 has been going well. As of this
week, we already have 17 students registered for Pre-K (3
day)& 16 students for Pre-K (5 day) classes. Although we
have aides to teachers, we are about to close registration. Our
parishioners have the highest priority and if you are contemplating to register a student, please do so at your earliest convenience. I was told by independent observers that St. Joseph
School has the most diversified faculty in our area—well balanced between male and female, lay and religious teachers
who are good role models for all of our students. In addition
to classroom teachers we also have professional personnel to
respond to the educational needs of all our children. We are
happy to report that all teachers will be returning to our classrooms for the 2012-2013 academic year.
May God bless and keep safe all the faculty and children of
our school until they return rested and healthy at the end of
August.

PARISH CENTER
For several weeks we shared with our parishioners via the
bulletin information about the parish center. On Sat. June 9th,
the Executive Committee held an informational session with
parishioners. On this weekend June 23rd & 24th, we will have
to make a final decision to either build only the gym, for which
we have adequate finances, or add the kitchen and parish center
with the cost of an additional one million dollars which has to
be raised. This is a historical decision which will determine the
future of this parish for generations. Therefore, your voice is of
paramount importance. At each mass we will offer a brief explanation and provide parishioners with a ballot to signify your
support. Your vote in this Jubilee Year will determine the future of this community.
JUBILEE PILGRIMAGE TO CZESTOCHOWA SHRINE
Mark your calendar!!—Sat., August 25 and Sun. Aug. 26
for our pilgrimage to the Our Lady of Czestochowa Shrine in
Doylestown, PA. This is a great opportunity to obtain the blessing of God on your life or a special grace for which perhaps you
have prayed for a long time. To make this pilgrimage more enjoyable we are providing one day of sightseeing of the Amish
Country to bring you back to the old days of simplicity and
close family life in an agricultural setting. It is a reasonable cost
and you can spend two meaningful days with friends of our
Basilica family. One of our priests will join in this pilgrimage.
It has been a tradition for Polonia of the United States to
come together for the Solemnity of Our Lady of Czestochowa
on this occasion. People attend from Chicago, New York, Newark, Philadelphia, etc. Nine years ago that Pilgrimage caught
the attention of Blessed John Paul II for which he sent his blessing and these words. “I know that it has become an annual tradition that American citizens of Polish origin return to the
Blessed Mother and seek her motherly care and through her
intercession entrust to God their present and future. May this
pilgrimage be a source of inspiration and encouragement on
your journey through life.” Please call the rectory if you are
interested to join us for this trip, at a cost of $230, for accommodations, bus transportation, sightseeing, dinner and lunch.
CATHOLIC YOUTH GROUP
Fire Pit & S’MORES-at Mrs. Valcour’s home to honor
the start of summer, the three different Youth Groups are invited to Mrs. Valcour’s home (122 Sutton Road, Webster) for
badminton, wiffle ball, basketball, board games and S’mores by
the fire. Rain or shine. Please let Mrs. Valcour know if you
will be attending so she can plan accordingly or if you can

KRONIKA PARAFIALNA
DWUNASTA NIEDZIELA ZWYKŁA

"Po mnie przyjdzie Ten, któremu nie jestem godny rozwiązać sandałów na nogach." (Dz 13, 25)
Przy narodzeniu Jana pytano: „Kimże
będzie to dziecię?”. Rzeczywistość przerosła
najśmielsze przypuszczenia. Jego słowo
wstrząsnęło całą ziemią Izraela. Świadectwo
życia fascynowało nawet króla Heroda, który
„chętnie go słuchał”. Blask jego misji
zabłysnął jak lampa. Byli tacy, którzy pomimo jego
kategorycznych wyjaśnień chcieli w nim widzieć Mesjasza. A
Jan? Oddał Jezusowi swoich uczniów jednym wyznaniem: „Nie
jestem godny rozwiązać Mu sandałów na nogach”. Wobec
majestatu Chrystusa sobie przypisał status niewolnika,
wyrzekając się autorytetu proroka, a w końcu oddając życie dla
prawdy. Każde narodziny dziecka mogą być początkiem
przerastającej wszelkie oczekiwania historii człowieka; mogą,
jeśli dostanie szansę tego początku.
SIOSTRY DOMINIKANKI
Dzisiejszej niedzieli Siostry Dominikanki sprzedają wypieki
przy głównym wejściu do Bazyliki. Zebrane pieniądze będą
przeznaczone na zakup leków i artykułów medycznych dla
prowadzonej przez siostry misji opiekującej się trędowatymi.
KORONKA DO MIŁOSIERDZIA BOŻEGO
Niedziela 1 lipca jest pierwsza niedzielą miesiąca, a zatem jak
miesiąc będziemy się modlili Koronką do Miłosierdzia Bożego.
Na wspólną modlitwę napraszamy na godzinę 15:00.
Dzisiejsza druga kolekta jest przeznaczona
na zbiórkę "Peter's Pence".

FESTIWAL
W ubiegła niedzielę zakończyliśmy nasz coroczny, już 39 Festiwal Parafialny. Wdzięczni jesteśmy przede wszystkim
Bogu za wspaniała pogodę. Festiwal to ogromne duchowe i społeczne przedsięwzięcie, wymagające ogromnego nakładu
pracy wielkiej ilości ludzi dobrej woli. Podziękowania kierujemy zatem do wszystkich parafian, rodziców dzieci z
naszej szkoły oraz przyjaciół za wytężoną pracę i ogromną pomoc przed, w trakcie i po Festiwalu. Specjalną
wdzięczność kierujemy do członków komitetu festiwalowego: Jen Herbst, Cindy Gardner, Tom i Connie McNally oraz
Artie Hunt.
Jesteśmy wdzięczni Normanowi Rudzińskiemu za użyczenie sprzętu do przewozu wyposażenia, Franciszkowi
Piwowarczykowi i Piotrowi Sochackiemu oraz ich pracownikom za pracę przy demontażu, Ks. Grzegorzowi, Robertowi
Wójcikowi oraz Eugeniuszowi Rudnickiemu za prace w przygotowaniach, podczas oraz po Festiwalu.
Bardzo budujący był widok wielu młodych ludzi, którzy poświęcili swój czas i talenty, aby dołożyć coś od siebie to
tego ogromnego przedsięwzięcia jakim jest Festiwal. Ich obecność napawa nadzieją, że ta wspaniała tradycja będzie
dalej kontynuowana w przyszłych latach. Również budujący jest wkład rodziców, nauczycieli i dzieci z naszej szkoły a
także grupy Piast. Oni również przyczynili się do sukcesu tegorocznego Festiwalu. To czego wspólnie dokonaliśmy było
istotnie znakiem jedności i współpracy dla dobra naszej szkoły. Niech Dobry Bóg Wam wszystkim błogosławi.

UROCZYSTOŚĆ PIOTRA I PAWŁA
W piątek 29 czerwca będziemy obchodzili Uroczystość
apostołów Piotra i Pawła. Jest to bardzo zakorzenione w
historii święto, które jest zaliczane do jednego spośród
najważniejszych w ciągu roku liturgicznego. Nie mniej
jednak nie jest to święto obowiązkowe. W tym dniu nowo
mianowani biskupi otrzymują od papieża insygnia swojej
władzy. Bazylika św. Józefa na w tym uroczystym dniu
przywilej odpustu, który można uzyskać pod
następującymi warunkami: Komunia św. (jeśli potrzeba
również spowiedź, aby móc przystąpić do Komunii),
nawiedzenie Bazyliki św. Józefa oraz modlitwa w intencji
Ojca Świętego. Odpust zupełny można uzyskać tylko raz,
natomiast odpust cząstkowy za każdym razem, kiedy
odwiedza się Bazylikę w tego dnia.
SPOTKANIE POFESTIWALOWE
Wszystkich, którzy pracowali przy organizacji
Festiwali, zarówno członków komitetu jak i
wolontariuszy, zapraszamy na spotkanie, które odbędzie
się 27 czerwca w szkolnej kafeterii. Będzie to dla nas
okazja do podzielenia się wrażeniami z miniowych
wydarzeń jak również do wyciagnięcia wniosków i
podjęcia decyzji na przyszłość
PIELGRZYMKA JUBILEUSZOWA
Częścią obchodów jubileuszu naszej parafii będzie
pielgrzymka
do
sanktuarium
Matki
Bożej
Częstochowskiej w Doylestown, która odbędzie się 25 i
26 sierpnia tego roku. Pielgrzymka to przede wszystkim
podróż do miejsca kultu w celach religijnych. Dla nas to
będzie okazja do okazania wdzięczności Bogu, za
wszelkie łaski, które spłynęły na naszą parafię, przez te
wszystkie lata. Poprzez wieki pielgrzymki były zawsze
szczególną formą modlitwy ponieważ są połączone z
ofiarą i trudami dotarcia do sanktuarium, gdzie łaska boża
objawia się w sposób szczególny np. poprzez objawiania
Matki Bożej lub różnorodne cuda.
Nasza pielgrzymka będzie jednocześnie połączona ze
zwiedzaniem wspólnoty Amiszów. W niedzielę będziemy
uczestniczyli w nabożeństwach w sanktuarium zanosząc
do Boga modlitwy w naszych osobistych intencjach i w
intencjach naszej wspólnoty parafialnej.
PRACE FESTIWALOWE
Z przyjemnością informujemy, że prace przy górnej
części schodów od ulicy Whitcomb są zakończone. Prace
obejmowały położenie nowej kostki przed schodami,
obłożenie schodów granitowymi płytami, oczyszczenie i
polakierowanie drzwi wejściowych oraz pomalowanie
płaskorzeźby Dobrego Pasterza nad drzwiami. Całości prac
dopełnia otaczający te cześć placu przed wejściem
kamienny murek, na którym będą jeszcze zainstalowane
lampy oraz kwietniki. Kolejne prace na niższej części
schodów obejma m. in. budowę niewielkiego murku
wzdłuż schodów oraz montaż barierek.
Dziękujemy przy okazji za złożoną w tym tygodniu
ofiarę na prace jubileuszowe w wysokości 320$.
CENTRUM PARAFIALNE
Przez ostatnich kilka tygodni informowaliśmy w biuletynie parafian o możliwości budowy centrum parafialnego przy

którą mamy już wystarczające środki, czy też zbudujemy również kuchnię i salę parafialną, na którą niestety brakuje
jeszcze około miliona dolarów. Ta historyczna decyzja będzie miała ogromny wpływ na przyszłość naszej parafii,
dlatego też na każdej Mszy będziemy zapoznawali parafian z obecną sytuacją oraz prosili o podanie swojego głosu za lub
przeciw budowie. Wasz głos ma ogromne znaczenie, gdyż będzie determinował przyszły kształt naszej wspólnoty.
