SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
May 13, 2012
It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you
and appointed you to go and bear fruit. - John 15:16
Stewardship Note: Jesus’ commandment is that His disciples love one another, even to the point of laying down their
lives, if necessary. What gifts of myself—my skills and talents, my time and resources—will best demonstrate my love
for God’s people?
THE PRESENCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
We have a unique episode in the Acts of the Apostles today.
A whole roomful of people are baptized with water! The verb
used -“the Holy Spirit ’fell’ on them” -is characteristic of the
way the Spirit works throughout the book of Acts: powerful
and surprising. Though this “baptism” is not the normative
way the New Testament describes baptism, it is still a good
reminder today that the Holy Spirit is not controlled by whether
or not we pour water, but rather that our sacramental signs reveal the presence of the Spirit at work among us. And we have
a double reinforcement of how this work is accomplished from
a Letter and a Gospel bearing John’s name. It is love, selfsacrificing and self-giving love, that manifests the Spirit of
Jesus in our midst. It is love that is the greatest of commandments. The Spirit is manifested equally through those who live
in that love.
BLESSED MOTHER ALTAR
The flowers in front of the Blessed Mother altar are to honor
Our Lady of Fatima and given in memory of Lucy A. Malboeuf
by her son, Roland.
MOTHER’S DAY
Today our country pays special tribute to all mothers. Here
at St. Joseph Basilica all the Masses this day are offered for the
mothers, living and deceased and for the intentions you submitted in your remembrance envelopes. The most precious gift
you can offer your mother is the gift of prayer and reflect in
your life her values which she taught you from childhood. Let
us remember our mothers for the love they gave us and the sacrifices they made for us.
FIRST EUCHARIST ANNIVERSARY MASS
At the 9:30am Mass, we will be celebrating the first anniversary of the 3rd grade children of our parish in receiving Jesus
for the first time. It is truly a beautiful opportunity for all of us
to reflect and remember our First Eucharist and how much Jesus has meant in our lives. The children will process in and
also read the Mass readings and intercessions. After Mass there
will be a small celebration for the families in the cafeteria.
Please pray for our young people that they will receive the
bread of life every Sunday during Divine Worship and obtain
the privilege and honor to receive the Eucharistic Bread at the
end of their life.

CANDLELIGHT PROCESSION
Today on the 13th of May, we begin our traditional candlelight procession honoring Our Lady of Fatima. This devotional
tribute will continue each 13th day of the month through October. We ask all the children of Mary, who have the privilege to
carry the statue of our Lady in the outdoor procession, to participate wearing their official attire. We also invite parishioners, organizations, school children and friends to join us to pay
devotional tribute to Our Lady of Fatima.

with the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament followed by private adoration. At 4:00pm the services will begin with the

21 is a day of private reflection. We will conclude these Eucharistic days on Tuesday, May 22 with an outdoor procession with

WEEK IN REVIEW
2012 First Communion Class-The First Communion celebration at St. Joseph Basilica was attended by a large number of people
and filled the Church to its capacity. Music was provided by the Children’s Choir and Basilica Choir, accompanied
by numerous musical instruments under the direction of Robert Wojcik, our musical director. It was indeed inspiring —the best
ever— and beautifully complimented this special event of the children who for the first time approached the Eucharistic Table. The
children were well prepared by Mrs. Nancy Bush , Grade 2 teacher, Mrs. Mary Jolda, our Religious Education Director, their assistants, Betty Sabaj, Jackie Skrocki, Jenna Libera, Andrew Shore and the little angels from Pre-K classes. The uplifting liturgy reflected the true spiritual meaning of Jesus, the Son of God, who was received for the first time by the St. Joseph Basilica children.
This splendid celebration was the result of many people who gave their time and talent for the benefit of others. I hope that the
beauty of this celebration will be a highlight which will linger in their memory for years to come and be a source of inspiration and
courage.
Visit of Sister Marie Simon-Pierre Normand from France- who received the gift of healing through the intercession of Blessed
John Paul II and Mother General Sister Marie Thomas was one of the highlights of last week at St. Joseph School. The students
from the French language classes greeted the Sisters in their native tongue and also sang a French song under the direction of Father
Gregory. It showed how important knowledge of language is in our contemporary society. To listen to the presentation in the
French language was a source of encouragement from Sister Marie Simon-Pierre who was fortunate to be cured through the prayers
of John Paul II.
Grandparents and Special Persons-were invited to our school on Thurs., May 3 for coffee and pastry followed by Mass in our
Basilica. After Mass our guests were given a tour of the school by Principal, Mr. Donald Cushing and attended Declamation presentations by students in grades 6-8. Grade 5 teacher, Denise Gionet, hosted an interactive Promethean Board demonstration. The
grandparents, aunts and uncles were very pleased by the visual presentation conducted by Mr. Richard Skrocki, Dean of Studies of
the video Faith, Academics, Service in Action at St. Joseph School which form the hearts and minds of the children of St. Joseph
School. The children were happy to enjoy lunch with people who have influenced their young lives.
St. Joseph School Annual Auction-The St. Joseph School Home & School Assoc. held its annual spring fundraiser at Indian
Ranch on Apr. 28th. The Mardi Gras themed event included Chinese, Silent and Live auction items including professional sports
tickets and memorabilia, vacation trips and specially designed platters created by students of our school. The students wish to thank
all those who attended the auction and for supporting St. Joseph School.

KRONIKA PARAFIALNA
SZÓSTA NIEDZIELA ZWYKŁA
13 maja 2012
Słowo pasterskie: Jezusowe przykazanie mówi, abyśmy się wzajemnie miłowali, nawet jeśli trzeba by poświęcić w konieczności własne życie. Jaki zatem nasz
osobisty dar najlepiej okaże naszą miłość w służbie Ludu
Bożego?
"Nie wyście Mnie wybrali, ale Ja was wybrałem
i przeznaczyłem was na to, abyście szli i owoc przynosili." (J 15,
Po raz kolejny usłyszymy dziś najważniejsze wezwanie
Ewangelii, abyśmy się wzajemnie miłowali. To po tym
wszyscy poznają, że jesteśmy uczniami Chrystusa. W
miłość przekazujemy Go innym.
dobro i poświęcenie jakie im zawdzięczamy.
Page 5
ROCZNICA I KOMUNII ŚW.
Do
wspólnej modlitwy zapraszamy wszystkich parafian,
zwłaszcza najmłodszych, a szczególnie Dzieci Maryi, które mają przywilej noszenia figury Matki Bożej podczas procesji.
PARTNERS I CHARITY
Z ogromną radością Dziękujemy wszystkim, którzy przyłączyli się do diecezjalnej akcji charytatywnej Partnets in Charity. Dzięki Waszemu poświęceniu w naszej parafii zebraliśmy już 19991 dolarów,
które posłużą biednym i potrzebującym, korzystającym z różnorodnych programów organizowanych
naszą diecezję. Niech Wam Bóg wynagrodzi Waszą
dobroć i oddanie w służbie bliźniego!

od rana aż do godz. 19:00. Zakończenie Czterdziestogodzinnego nabożeństwa odbędzie się we wtorek
uroczysta Procesją Eucharystyczną. Do udziału w
nabożeństwach zapraszamy szczególnie dzieci, które
przyjęły w tym roku Pierwszą Komunię Świętą.

W miesiącu maju oddajemy cześć Matce Bożej
odmawiając
codziennie
Litanię
Loretańską.
Wszystkich parafian zapraszamy do włączenia się w
tę wielowiekową tradycję. W naszej parafii
Nabożeństwa są odprawiane codziennie o godz.
19:00 za wyjątkiem niedziel (nabożeństwo po Mszy
o godz. 11:00) oraz sobót (nabożeństwo po Mszy o
godz. 16:00). Do wspólnej modlitwy zachęcamy
szczególnie
dzieci,
które
zawsze
miały
uprzywilejowane miejsce podczas nabożeństw
maryjnych. Każde dziecko, które uczestniczy w
Nabożeństwie Majowym otrzymuje obrazek, który
