RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a process
established by the Church for individuals to become Catholic
and receive the Sacraments of Initiation-Baptism, Confirmation,
and the Eucharist. If you wish to become Catholic, or are a
Baptized Catholic in need of making your First Communion
and/or Confirmation, please call the Religious Education Office.
BAPTISM: On designated Sundays. Please call to make
arrangements. Parents are required to receive orientation.
MARRIAGE: Proper preparation for marriage requires one
year’s notice. Please contact the rectory for appointment.
MINISTRY TO THE SICK: For those of advanced age, ill or

THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER - April 26, 2009
You alone, O Lord,
bring security to my dwelling. –

Believing in Jesus Christ.
Throughout the Easter season, all
three of the Sunday readings are taken from the New
Testament–the Christian scriptures. Together they explore
what it means to believe in Jesus as the Christ, the One who
fulfilled the prophecies of the Jewish scriptures.
Today’s selections refer to our human weakness, yet they
emphasize the forgiveness and peace that are available to
those who put their faith in “Jesus Christ the righteous one”.
In the Acts of the Apostles Peter invites everyone to
“repent, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be
wiped away” (Acts 3:19). In the Gospel Jesus greets the
disciples with “Peace” and urges them to preach
“repentance, for the forgiveness of sins” (Luke 24:47).
The second collection this weekend is for
Partners in Charity.
Next weekend the second collection is designated for the
Diocesan Obligations
FIRST FRIDAY ADORATION
On Friday, May 1st, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will
follow the 7 a.m. Mass and will continue throughout the day. It will
conclude at 3 p.m. with the Divine Mercy Chaplet and benediction.
Adorers are asked to attend at their scheduled time. A Mass in
Polish will be celebrated at 7 p.m. followed by the litany to the
Blessed Mother.
MONTH OF MAY
May is the month when Catholics traditionally focus on Mary, the
Mother of Jesus. The practice dates back at
least 700 years and is still observed around
the world today. May is seen as the
beginning of new life and the start of
summer, which makes this a logical time for
the celebrations of Mary, who brought life
into the world.
Many of us grew up participating in May
Crowning processions where a crown,
sometimes fashioned out of flowers was
placed on an image or statue of Mary. In
keeping with this tradition, the crowning of the image of the
Blessed Mother will take place in the Basilica on Monday, May 4
at 7 p.m. followed by the litany and benediction.
The weekly schedule of May devotions is as follows: Sunday
following the 11 a.m. Mass in Polish; Mondays at 7 p.m. in
English, Fridays at 7 p.m. in Polish. On Wednesdays (6:30 pm) and
Sundays (2 pm) bilingual Marian devotions will be prayed at St.
Andrew Bobola Church in Dudley.
Note: Sunday, May 4 is the Mass for the second graders who will
receive the Holy Eucharist at the 12:15 p.m. liturgy. The litany to
the Blessed Mother and the chaplet to the Divine Mercy will be
prayed immediately following the 11 a.m. Mass.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION
On Sunday, May 3, at the 12:15 p.m. liturgy, 23 young girls and
boys from St. Joseph School and the CCD Religious Program will
receive the Holy Eucharist for the first time. We ask that you keep
them in your prayers.
PARTNERS IN CHARITY
Our chairpersons Betty Sabaj and Carolyn Swierzbin report that as
of April 19 our total is $17,332, slightly higher than last week. But
we still need $2918 to meet our quota. We hope and pray that you
will be generous in the second collection this weekend so that we
may successfully close the campaign. Our sincere gratitude to those
who have contributed. We are especially grateful to a parishioner
who donated an extra $500 to Partners in Charity to his original
contribution. Thank you and God bless you.
SCHOOL NEWS
Science Fair. On Thursday, April 30 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm, you
will have the opportunity to visit our school and allow our students
to demonstrate their knowledge in a wide variety of fields of
scientific study. There will be many projects on display for your
enjoyment–the lower grades in their classrooms on the first floor
and Grades 5 though 8 in the school cafeteria. Please join us and
observe what marvels our students have come up with for you.
These budding scientists wish to enlighten you through their
displays and presentations, and show you their enthusiasm for
scientific discovery.
Awards will be presented on the Grade 5 through 8 levels around
7:30 p.m. These students are competing to represent Saint Joseph
School at the Worcester Diocesan Science Fair to be held on
Tuesday, May 26 at Assumption College in Worcester.
Show your support for our students and spend the evening with
us. I’m sure you will have a pleasant and enlightening time.

CASH CALENDAR
Once again, the Cash Calendar for the month of May is available
for purchase from Dottie Kasierski or Patti Parslow at the entrances
to the church. Your favorite sellers also have a supply of the
calendars which you may purchase as Mother’s Day gifts, birthday
and graduation gifts and other events in the life of your family and
friends.
CATHOLIC YOUTH GROUP
Promotional Video. The Group is creating a video of all the great
things in which they are involved. An informational meeting is
scheduled for Monday, April 27th from 6:30-7:30 pm at the Youth
Center. Interested parties are invited and requested to advise Mrs.
Valcour.
Camping trip. Grades 6-12 are invited to go camping on May 2
and 3 at Camp Marshall. There are cabins or you may bring your
own tent. Cost $35/person. Please inform Mrs. Valcour of your
intent.
Next Youth Skit. Interested individuals are requested to meet at
Mrs. Valcour’s home at 122 Sutton Road on Saturday, May 9th

The Sodality is currently holding its annual membership drive.

DONATIONS
Saint Joseph Basilica. We acknowledge a donation of $100
given on the occasion of the baptism of Faustina Helen Kohut
by parents Stephen and Sylwia Kohut. We also recognize the
donation of $200 given in honor of the baptism of Jakub Lech
by parents Renata and Krzysztof Lech. May these little ones
grow in the grace of God and may Our Lord continue to bless the
parents with love and wisdom in raising their child.
A memorial donation was given to Saint Joseph Basilica in

KRONIKA PARAFIALNA
TRZECIA NIEDZIELA WIELKANOCNA
Przeżywamy Trzecią Niedzielę Wielkanocną. W raz z całym
Kościołem cieszymy się ze Zmartwychwstania Chrystusa.
Dzisiejsza liturgia słowa przypomina nam o obowiązku troski o
wiarę, i o konieczności ciągłego nawracania się. Nawrócić się to
znaczy także wierzyć w Chrystusa i przez niego zwracać się w
każdej sytuacji ku Bogu. Tę wiarę odnowiliśmy w czasie liturgii
Wigilii Paschalnej w Wielką Sobotę. To jednak nie zmienia
faktu, że każdego dnia musimy na nowo opowiadać się po
stronie Pana Boga i przypominać sobie, że do Niego należymy
i do Niego zmierzamy. W dzisiejszej ewangelii
Zmartwychwstały Jezus przychodzi do uczniów aby umocnić ich
wiarę, a oni poznali Go „przy łamaniu chleba”. Uczestnicząc we
Mszy świętej pamiętajmy, że Jezus przychodzi również do nas
w Swoim Słowie i Komunii Świętej, aby umocnić naszą wiarę
oraz aby dodać nam sił na trud codziennego wypełniania naszego
życiowego powołania. Dlatego tak ważne jest nasze dobre
uczestnictwo w Eucharystii.
WITAMY PANIĄ MARIĘ DRAMIŃSKĄ
Gościmy dziś w naszej bazylice Panią Marię Dramińską, artystkę
– śpiewaczkę, którą Pan Bóg obdarzył pięknym głosem, aby
śpiewem opowiadała o Jego wielkiej miłości do człowieka. Jej
występy to nie tylko śpiew, ale także recytacje wierszy znanych
polskich poetów oraz osobiste świadectwo wiary. Dziękujemy za
obecność i przybliżenie nam Maryi, Matki Bożej, co w
kontekście zbliżającej się uroczystości NMP Królowej Polski i
miesiąca maja stało się wspaniałym duchowym przygotowaniem.
Życzymy Pani Marii błogosławieństwa Bożego i opieki Matki
Najświętszej w codziennym życiu. Po Mszy Św. można nabyć
płyty z nagraniami Pani Marii.
MAJ – MIESIĄC MATKI BOŻEJ
Rozpoczyna się miesiąc maj, który w tradycji Kościoła
poświęcony jest Matce Bożej. Już w piątek, 1 maja, o godz. 7:00
Msza Św. (z racji pierwszego piątku) oraz pierwsze nabożeństwo
majowe. Ponadto nabożeństwa majowe przez cały miesiąc: w
niedzielę po Mszy św. o godz. 11.00 ( z wyjątkiem pierwszej
niedzieli miesiąca), poniedziałek 7.00 (english), piątek 7.00 w j.
polskim. We środy nabożeństwo majowe będzie w Dudley o
godz. 6.30. Zapraszamy do wspólnej modlitwy i uwielbiania
Boga przez Maryję.
PIERWSZY PIĄTEK MIESIĄCA
W tym tygodniu, 1 maja, wypada pierwszy piątek miesiąca, czyli
dzień poświęcony Najświętszemu Sercu Jezusa. Zapraszamy na
adorację Najświętszego Sakramentu w ciągu dnia, począwszy od
godz. 7.30 rano, do godz. 3:00 p.m. Na zakończenie adoracji będzie
Koronka do Miłosierdzia Bożego prowadzona przez członków
Apostolstwa Modlitwy.
Wieczorem o godz. 7.00 Msza św. w j. polskim oraz nabożeństwo
majowe. Oczywiście, jak zawsze przed pierwszym piątkiem okazja
do spowiedzi św., we czwartek o godz. 3.00 p.m. oraz w piątek przed
Mszą św. wieczorną od godz. 6:30.
UROCZYSTOŚĆ MATKI BOŻEJ KRÓLOWEJ POLSKI
W następną niedzielę, 3 maja, Kościół w Polsce i Polonia na całym
świecie obchodzi Uroczystość Matki Bożej Królowej Polski i
rocznicę uchwalenia Konstytucji 3 Maja. Król Jan Kazimierz obrał
Maryję za Królową Polski i złożył Bogu uroczyste śluby, których
wypełnienie jest również naszą sprawą. W niedzielę będziemy
dziękować Bogu za wolną Ojczyznę i prosić Go przez pośrednictwo
Maryi Królowej o mądrość dla rządzących, a dla wszystkich Polaków
w kraju i za granicą o Jego Błogosławieństwo.
PIERWSZA KOMUNIA ŚW.
W przyszłą niedzielę w naszej parafii, podczas Mszy św. o godz.
12:15, dzieci klasy II Szkoły św. Józefa oraz z programu CCD
przystąpią po raz pierwszy do Komunii Świętej. Przygotowywały się
przez ostatni rok pod kierunkiem nauczycieli i rodziców do tego
ważnego wydarzenia. Pamiętajmy o nich w naszej modlitwie.
Z KSIĘGI CHRZTÓW
W ostatnim czasie sakrament chrztu otrzymały: Natalia Marie
Uliński, Evan Anthony Matuga, Gabriela Pianka, Miranda Tremblay,
Natalia Abigaile Milewski, Alexander Croteau, Jakub Lech, Faustyna
Helena Kohut. Gratulujemy rodzicom i życzymy, aby łaska
sakramentu chrztu, we współpracy z rodzicami, wydała w życiu ich
dzieci dobre owoce.
NOWENNA DO MIŁOSIERDZIA BOŻEGO
W przyszłą niedzielę zapraszamy na nasze comiesięczne
nabożeństwo do Miłosierdzia Bożego o godz. 3.00 po południu. W
połączeniu z modlitwami nowenny odmówimy Litanię do Matki
Bożej. W pozostałe niedziele maja Litanię do Matki Bożej będziemy
odmawiać bezpośrednio po Mszy Św. o godz. 11:00.
ZAPISY NA NAUKĘ RELIGII
Zapisy na nowy rok szkolny 2009-2010 odbędą się w biurze nauki
religii w dniu 27 kwietnia 5:00-7:00. Wszyscy uczniowie powinni się
na nowo zapisać. Przy zapisie pobierana jest opłata $30 oraz $20 za
każde następne dziecko.
KOLEKTY
Druga kolekta dzisiaj jest przeznaczona na diecezjalne dzieło
charytatywne „Partners in Charity”. Dziękujemy za wszystkie ofiary
złożone na ten cel. Pragniemy, aby wraz z tą kolektą uzyskać
brakującą kwotę $2,918 do osiągnięcia celu naszej parafii jakim jest
zebranie $20,250.
W następną niedzielę druga kolekta przeznaczona będzie na nasze
zobowiązania wobec diecezji.
