As always, God never gives up on us, especially those who have “fallen asleep” along the road to conversion. The most powerful stories of conversion are proclaimed during these final weeks of Lent. They have the power to shake us out of our sleep. In a few weeks , at the Ester Vigil, the Church will proclaim “Christ our Light” as the paschal candle is carried into darkened churches throughout the world. May the darkness of sin that still pervades our lives, communities, and world, be dispelled by the Christ who comes to bring sight to the blind and light to the world. The second collection this weekend is designated for the Catholic Relief Services. Aid to Japan is embraced through this collection. Please be generous to this appeal. This second collection will also include our monthly Diocesan Obligations collection. Those who did not contribute to Partners in Charity last week may make their donation this week. The second collection next weekend is directed toward the Utility and Energy Costs LENTEN RETREAT This Sunday we begin the Lenten retreat in our parish in Polish and in English. POPE JOHN PAUL II On April 2nd we observe the 6th anniversary of the entry into eternity of Venerable John Paul II. Let us use this occasion to remember him in our prayers. If someone would like to make a pilgrimage to Rome for his beatification in his/her special intention there are still two seats available. VOTIVE CANDLES ON THE ALTARS We are grateful to the individuals who out of their personal piety make an offering for the two votive candles located on each altar. They are placed in decorative holders. In previous years during the Lenten season we had additional purple candles lit on the main and side altars. This year we do not have offerings for these candles. If someone would like to reserve the purple candles please call the rectory. Page 3 3 April 2011 - 3 kwiecien 2011 r.
