SACRIFICIAL OFFERINGS - February 8, 2009
Weekly $4660.50 (incl. $338.50 in loose money); Fuel $643;
Diocesan Obligations $417.
Stewardship Note: “Brothers and sisters: Whether you eat or
drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of
God.” (1 Corinthians 10:312) Are you doing everything
possible for the glory of God? Or is there maybe some other
way that you could use your time, talent or treasure for God’s
glory. Think about it.
SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
February 15, 2009
Whether you eat or drink, or
whatever you do, do everything for
the glory of God. - 1 Corinthiams 10:31
Give God the Glory. A curious
feature of the first half of Mark’s
Gospel is the pattern of Jesus
working a miracle, then telling the recipient of the miracle
to keep still about it. The insight into this secret-keeping
that serves us well is that Jesus was initiating his public
ministry according to the pattern that Paul describes: he was
doing it for the glory of God–not for his own benefit, but for
that of all. Paul would later write in Philippians that Jesus
“humbled” himself to become like us. And we see this
humility at work in today’s healing of the leper. Jesus is
trying to reveal the presence of God’s reign among the
people, not so that he himself might receive the glory, but
so that God would be glorified through him.
A second collection will not be taken this weekend
SPECIAL REQUEST
The After-School Student Program at St. Joseph School has two
purposes–educational and social. Besides homework and crafts, the
children have the opportunity to relax and unwind by taking part in
games and physical activities. Recently an air hockey table was
donated to this program, which proved to be a very welcome
addition. The students would also enjoy a ping pong table to
provide a diverse activity. If there is a parishioner who would be
willing to make such a donation, please contact the rectory.
OUTREACH
The St. Joseph Parish Council, mindful of its responsibility and
privilege to share the message of Jesus Christ, is reaching out to
our brothers and sisters who would benefit from worshiping God
and serving each other. Bishop Sheehan said “Very few reject the
Church--they reject what they think is the Church.” This attitude
may come from inadequate Catholic education, personal
misconceptions, or their own identity which is based not on the
Gospel message but on subcultural trends. Each one of us is
responsible and accountable to bring others to the Church so they
could pray and worship as one family of God. We ask each one of
our parishioners to pray to the Holy Spirit to revive the faith of
those who once professed one faith in the family of believers.
PARISH RETREAT
The Lenten season with its emphasis on prayer, fasting, and alms
giving is the most conducive time for our parish retreat. For many
centuries, people of every walk of life sought solitude during Lent
in monasteries, convents or shrines for personal renewal by
reflecting on the life, passion and resurrection of Jesus. To provide
a similar opportunity to our parishioners we have scheduled a
retreat from March 21 to March 25. The Retreat Master will be
Rev. Father Krzysztof Wieliczko, former Provincial for the Pauline
Fathers. Please reserve this time on your family calendar.

OFFERTORY GIFTS
Parishioners who wish to bring the offertory gifts to the celebrant
at the altar during weekend Masses which they have offered for a
family member or friend, should make it a practice to sit in the first
pew after the break. The Eucharistic Ministers do not always know
who is representing the family and to avoid disappointment it
would also help if this wish was indicated when booking the Mass.
In addition, you also may make your wishes known by visiting the
priests’ sacristy prior to the beginning of the Mass.
CASH CALENDARS
The March Cash Calendars are now available from your favorite
seller. You can also see Dottie Kasierksi and Patti Parslow who
have calendars at the entrances to the church for your convenience.
Your continued support of this fund raiser is appreciated.

KRONIKA PARAFIALNA
obiecanym Mesjaszem. Kolejny już raz słyszymy dziś opis
cudownego uzdrowienia. Tym razem Jezus uzdrowił człowieka
chorego na trąd. Jednym dotknięciem, jednym słowem Jezus
dokonuje niezwykłego cudu. Chory człowiek mocno wierzył, ze
Jezus może go oczyścić z trądu. Nasze modlitwy byłyby
skuteczniejsze, gdybyśmy mocniej wierzyli i ufali Bogu. Jednak w
„IDŹCIE I GŁOŚCIE ...”
To polecenie Chrystusa odnosi się do wszystkich wierzących, do
każdego z nas. W naszych własnych środowiskach, mamy być
głosicielami i świadkami Dobrej Nowiny. W tym duchu, Rada
Parafialna podjęła się zadania dotarcia do tych naszych parafian,
którzy przestali praktykować swoją wiarę. Bardzo prosimy
wszystkich parafian, aby osobistym przykładem i modlitwą
pomagali odnaleźć drogę do Kościoła tym, którzy ją zagubili.
ŚWIĘTO KATEDRY ŚW. PIOTRA
W niedzielę 22 lutego obchodzimy Święto Katedry Św.
Piotra, które przypomina nam o roli następcy Chrystusa jaką
pełnił Św. Piotr Apostoł a dzisiaj pełni Ojciec Święty.
przywiązania do każdego grzechu.
REKOLEKCJE PARAFIALNE
Do rozpoczęcia Wielkiego Postu pozostały jeszcze prawie
zarezerwować czas i wziąć w nich udział. Rekolekcje to
bardzo ważny element naszego przygotowania się do
przeżywania Wielkiego Tygodnia i Świąt Wielkanocnych.
