OUR WEEKLY OFFERINGS
Weekly $3998.47 (incl. $275.47 in loose money); Diocesan
Obligations $87; Fuel $180; Assumption $671; Aid to churches in
Eastern Europe $615 (incl. $142 in loose money).
Stewardship Note. Today’s reading from Isaiah describes the
Israelites bringing their offering to the Lord “in clean vessels.” The
gift of myself–my patient endurance and fidelity to the will of
God–is as important as the monetary gift I offer. See Isaiah 66:20.
Word of Life. Mercy brings healing that is impossible on a merely
human level. Divine Mercy can restore hope, because it flows from
the heart of the Risen Christ who, once and for all, has vanquished
the finality of death. The deep truth that faith teaches is that only
in the context of mercy–God’s Mercy and our own forgiveness and
mercy–can we, as wounded human men and women, find healing
and hope. – Bishop Robert Finn, “Divine Mercy and the Death Penalty,”
USCCB Respect Life Program
Reminder: Registration for Webster Adult Basic Education and
ESOL returning students will take place on Tuesday, August 24,
2010 at 7 p.m. at Bartlett High School. Classes and registration are
free. For details call 508-949-8282.
TWENTY-FIRST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
August 22, 2010
Strengthen your drooping hands and your weak knees.
Make straight paths for your feet, that what is lame
may not be disjointed but healed.
Proclaim God’s Glory. A threefold
message develops in today’s
readings. First, everyone is called to
proclaim God’s glory and receive
salvation. Second, salvation is not
for the unprepared. Like a loving
parent, God gently corrects and
disciplines those who have been
called. Third, some people who
imagine themselves saved are really not. The door of
salvation has been closed in their faces despite their cries
and pleas. We need to take these lessons to heart. Always
try your best to enter by the narrow door. Come and
proclaim God’s glory.
The second collection next weekend will be taken for the
Propagation of the Faith. Deacon Henry Babin of the Queen of
Peace Church, Olive Branch, Mississippi, will be making an
appeal. Kindly respond generously to this request.
GOD’S VINEYARD
We are familiar with Jesus’ parable recorded by Matthew 20:1-16
about the owner of the vineyard who hired workers at different
times of the day from–9, 12, 3 and 5 p.m. At the end of the day all
of them received the same payment. From a human point of view
we can agree with the workers that who were hired first should be
paid more. But the generosity of God has different logic. We are all
invited to the vineyard at a different time of our life to share, work
and build the kingdom of God. Our reward will be based on our
willingness, generosity, dedication and above all, on our faith in
God’s word. Our work in the vineyard consists of many things
according to our own abilities. Perhaps someone is standing idle
looking for an opportunity to find meaning in life. Someone else
might be searching for help how to use his/her talents to build up
various ministries in the Church. There are many needs among our
people, Basilica, children who look for a generous person who
could share with them their resources. That parable is very
engaging forcing us to determine at what stage of our life we are,
is it morning or the day is almost over. When our life is close to 5
p.m., don’t delay your good deeds until you are in the hospital or
nursing home. This would mean wasted talents and resources. If
you are able to do more, use God’s blessings for the good of the
Church. God is never outdone in His generosity. “You too go into
my vineyard” – let’s not delay in answering.

SCHOOL NEWS
School Store. Any parent who would like to exchange uniforms
can visit the school store from 8:30 to 12:30 p.m. Monday through
Friday. As children grow they may need to change their uniform to
feel more comfortable. We encourage parents to check with the
store for any needs.
Registration. There are still a few openings to Pre-K for 4-yearold children in the 3-day program. Preference is given to
parishioners so please do not delay in your registration. We are
very pleased with the growing enrollment across the board,
especially in the lower grades.
Education is not only acquiring bits of pieces of knowledge, but
involves formation of character, development of personality and
preparing the individuals to live a successful, happy and fulfilled
life. This cannot be achieved by only pure knowledge without
sharing the truth, joy and love inherent in the Catholic doctrine.
Children are too precious to be educated by the streets or a school
which does not believe in truth, right or wrong, good or evil.
Students from Europe. Once again, eleven students from Poland
will be learning in our school from September 29 to December 12,
2010. They will join our students of grades 7 and 8. We are
looking for families to host one or two students for this period. If
you are interested or need more information please call the rectory.
Our school received the invitation to visit Poland and England for
the summer of 2011 for educational and cultural experience.
Obviously, the students of host families will have the opportunity
to join St. Joseph School for this adventure.
EUROPEAN YOUTH LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
On August 26 to 28, 2010, there will be a youth leadership
conference in Doylestown, PA. The conference will help young
adults over 16 years of age to reflect on the uniqueness of their role
in the Church, their Catholic identity and rich cultural heritage
which supports their faith. This small conference is in preparation
for a national convention of the young people in the near future.
Anyone who is interested please call the rectory immediately for a
brochure and details. Room and board is free of charge paid
partially by the United States Conference of Bishops in
Washington and various Apostolates.
In addition to participating in the Youth Leadership Conference,
I will be taking part in the annual pilgrimage to the American
Czestochowa in Doylestown on Sunday, August 29th.

request of several parishioners we will have an evening prayer
service and Mass at St. Joseph Basilica on the 26th of each month,
beginning with September 26. Those interested to be on the
planning committee for this ministry, please attend a special
meeting on Wednesday, September 1st at 6:30 p.m. in the rectory.

ATTENTION GOLFERS AND FRIENDS
Alumni, relatives, friends and families of St Joseph School
Athletics it's time to get your team together for our 11th Annual
golf tournament to benefit St Joseph School Athletics!!. Last years
event at The Dudley Hill Golf Club (Nichols) was one of the most
successful in recent years so we will be back there again on
Saturday September 25th with a 1:00 pm shotgun start.
Immediately following the golf will be a full steak dinner,
including appetizers, and raffle at the PAV at approximately 6:30.
The cost this year for golf, cart, player gift and dinner is $100. The

a clean and safe environment and at a very reasonable price to our
athletes families. You may also join us for the dinner only for just
$15. Please contact Craig Holmberg at 508-331-6915 or

KRONIKA PARAFIALNA
SºOWO òYCIA. Boóe Mi»osierdzie jest w stanie uzdrowiƒ
beznadziejnie wygldajce dla oka ludzkiego sytuacje. Moóe
przywróciƒ nadziej“, gdyó pochodzi prosto z serca Zmartwychwsta»ego
Chrystusa, który pokona» Ñmierƒ. Nasza wiara uczy nas g»“bokiej
prawdy, óe tylko w kontekÑcie mi»osierdzia i przebaczenia – Boóego
Mi»osierdzia i w»asnego wybaczenia sobie – moóemy, jako cierpicy
m“óczyïni i kobiety znaleïƒ nadziej“ i uleczenie.
WINNICA PA¼SKA. Zapewne wszyscy znaj przypowieу Jezusa z
ewangelii Ñw. Mateusza, 20:1-16 o w»aÑcicielu winnicy, który
zatrudnia» robotników o róónych porach dnia, a po pracy wszyscy
otrzymali t“ sam wyp»at“. Z punktu widzenia ludzkiego moóe si“ to
wydawaƒ niesprawiedliwe, ale szczodroу Boóa kieruje si“ inn logik.
Wszyscy jesteÑmy zaproszeni byc pracownikami w winnicy na róónych
etapach naszego óycia, aby wspólnie budowaƒ Królestwo Boóe. Nasza
KtoÑ inny moóe szuka miejsca, gdzie móg»by uóyƒ swoje talenty
w pos»udze dla KoÑcio»a. W naszej rodzinie parafialnej jest wiele
potrzeb. Budynki i ich obejÑcie wymaga cig»ego zachodu. Dzieci w
szkole szukaj szczodrych osób, które pomog» by finansowo.
Oznacza»oby to utracone talenty i Ñrodki
materialne.
winnicy. Nie zwlekajmy z odpowiedzi na to zaproszenie.
ZE SZKOºY.
Sklepik szkolny. Rodzice, którzy pragn zakupiƒ mundurki w
szkolnym sklepiku mog to robiƒ od poniedzia»ku do pitku od 8:30 do

Zapisy do szko»y.
charakteru i osobowoÑci.
przyswojenie sobie wiedzy bez dzielenia si“ prawd, radoÑci i
mi»oÑci p»ync z naszej katolickiej wiary. Dzieci s zbyt
Józefa w kl. 7 i 8.
Anglii w lecie 2011 roku w celach edukacyjnych i
krajoznawczych. OczywiÑcie dzieci z rodzin, które przyjm

PADRE PIO. Na ca»ym Ñwiecie wzrasta
naboóe½stwo do Ojca Pio, który zmar» 26

prosimy o przyjÑcie na spotkanie w Ñrod“ 1go wrzeÑnia o 6:30 na plebanii.
