whole self will do. You have given us Yourself, dear Lord; in love
and thanksgiving. I commit myself afresh to you.

family. Strength of character may be acquired at work, but beauty
of character is learned at home. – Henry Drummond
THE HOLY FAMILY OF JESUS,
MARY, AND JOSEPH
December 26, 2010
Over all (other virtues) put on love,
that is, the bond of perfection.
Salvation in Daily Life. This Sunday is
the Feast of the Holy Family, which comes
on the first Sunday after Christmas Day.
Today’s feast celebrates how the humanity of Jesus (including
his entire family life) has brought saving significance into the
daily rhythms of our human family life.
The scriptures offer instruction and encouragement on how to
share–within our families, parish families, and the wider human
family–the love that God shares with us in Jesus. Selections
from Sirach, Psalm 128, and Colossians encourage us to reflect
divine love and thus find holiness in all our human
relationships. The reading from Matthew’s Gospel offers a
living example of love in the actions Joseph took to protect his
young family from danger and to nurture them within the larger
family of faith of their time.
The second collection next weekend will be taken for the
Diocesan Obligations
CHRISTMAS GIFT TO THE BASILICA
vWith profound gratitude we acknowledge a
donation of $5000 to the parish from Dr. John
Kalinowski. Once again, he has chosen to share
his blessings with our Basilica. May God reward
Dr. John with special blessings in his
professional and personal life. Thank you for
your bountiful gift in this season of sharing. We
wish you and your family a blessed Christmas
and successful New Year.
vI want to acknowledge with deep gratitude a donation of $300
from our organist Robert Wojcik for the needs of the Basilica. May
his thoughtfulness and dedication to our Basilica parish be
generously rewarded in this joyful season. Merry Christmas to you
and your family!
HAPPY NEW YEAR
As the year 2010 is coming to its conclusion, a new year is being
ushered and greeted by thousands of people across the world.
Various thoughts and feelings cross our mind. One predominant
feeling is gratitude to God who blessed us with many gifts,
especially the gift of life, health, and good friends. That gratitude
to God we express in our faithful service to God, His Church and
one another. We offer Him not left overs as did Cain in the Old
Testament whose sacrifice was rejected, but with the most generous
attitude and dedicated heart filled with love and open heart.
The New Year begins with the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of
God. The Church puts forward Mary to guide us on our journey of
faith through the unknown 365 days of the new year. As we look
forward, we make many resolutions but the most important one is
our discipleship which is the faith of God translated into daily
activities of service, kindness and generosity.
Page 3
Through Jesus Christ new relationship is possible between the
divine and the human. We are no longer strangers and aliens,
rather, we are brothers and sisters invited into the family of God
where we experience His goodness and are called to proclaim the
good news. God in his generosity is giving us the greatest gift,
which is time, a new year. What value do we assign to this gift of
time? How much time will we dedicate to serve Jesus and His
Church? May this new year be filled with joy, blessing of God and
personal fulfillment for all our parishioners.
vA special thank you to all who sent their best wishes, gifts and
prayers to us for Christmas. We are most grateful for your
thoughtfulness and pray that the new year will bring you many
blessings of good heath and happiness.
– Rev. Msgr. Anthony Czarnecki
– Rev. Gregory Chodkowski
Happy New Year and Szczesliwego Nowego Roku!
ALTAR GUILD
We owe deep gratitude to the Altar Guild under the leadership of
Sylvia Kitka for the beautiful and traditional Christmas decorations
of St. Joseph Basilica. Their vision and timeless hours help our
parishioners, visitors and friends to relive the first Christmas in the
world. I am profoundly grateful for their dedication throughout the
year in overseeing the Basilica and especially caring for the
sanctuary. The marble floor of the sanctuary was washed, sealed
and polished with the assistance of Eugene Rudnicki and Kevin
Rekowski. May the Christmas season fill them with lasting gifts
from the New Born Messiah.

KRONIKA PARAFIALNA
UROCZYSTOЂ ÐWI’TEJ RODZINY. W t“ niedziel“, jak w kaód
pierwsz niedziel“ po Boóym Narodzeniu, przyóywamy uroczystoу
Ðwi“tej Rodziny. Dzisiaj wspominamy jak cz»owiecze½stwo i ca»e
ziemskie óycie Jezusa wnosi zbawienne »aski w rytm naszej
codziennoÑci.
W PiÑmieÐw. zdajdujemy wskazówki i zach“t“ jak dzieliƒ si“ w
naszych rodzinach, wspólnocie parafialnej i rodzinie ludzkiej mi»oÑci,
która Bóg nas obdarzy» w osobie swojego Syna Jezusa. Psalm 128 i List
do Koryntian zach“caj nas, do refleksji nad Boó mi»oÑci i
znalezienia Ñwi“toу we wszystkich relacjach mi“dzyludzkich. Czytanie
z Ewangelii Ñw. Mateusza pokazuje óywy przyk»ad mi»oÑci w praktyce,
kiedy to Józef wzi» na siebie obowizek opieki nad swoj now
b»ogos»awie½stwami z nasz rodzin parafialn. Niech dobry Pan Bóg
wynagrodzi jego szczodroу wszelkimi »askami w óyciu zawodowym
i osobistym.
radoÑci i obdarowywania si“ prezentami i óyczymy b»ogos»awionego
Boóego Narodzenia i szcz“Ñliwego Nowego Roku!
Równieó z wielk wdzi“cznoÑci dzi“kuj“ Robertowi Wójcikowi,
naszemu organiÑcie, za ofiar“ $300 na potrzeby parafii. òyczymy mu,
aby Pan Bóg obdarzy» gowszelkimi »askami za oddanie naszej rodzinie
parafialnej. Wszyskiego najlepszego z okazji Ðwit Boóego Narodzenia
i wielu »ask w Nowym Roku!
NOWY ROK.
ca»ym Ñwiecie przygotowuje si“ do powitania Nowego Roku. W tym
czasie wiele myÑli przechodzi nam przez g»ow“. Miedzy innymi
odczuwamy wdzi“cznoу wzgl“dem Boga za otrzymane »aski,
szczególnie óycie, zdrowie, rodzin“ i przyjació». Swoj wdzi“cznoу
wyraóamy w s»uóbie Bogu, Jego KoÑcio»owi i bliïnim.
wyp»ywajce z serca przepe»nionego mi»oÑci. Nowy Rok
roku. Patrzc w przysz»oу robimy róóne postanowienia, z których
najwaóniejszym powinno byƒ rozwijanie swojej wiary w s»uóbie Bogu
poprzez dobre uczynki i ofiarnoу. Dzi“ki Jezusowi ponownie moóliwa
jest relacja mi“dzy Bogiem i ludïmi. Nie jesteÑmy juó wi“cej obcymi,
ale braƒmi i siostrami zaproszonymi do Rodziny Boóej, gdzie
doÑwiadczamy Jego dobroci i jesteÑmy powo»ani do g»oszenia Dobrej
Nowiny. Bóg w swojej szczodroÑci daje nam czas, kolejny rok. Jak
wartoу przyporzdkujemy do tego daru? Ile czasu poÑwi“cimy na
s»uób“ Jezusowi i Jego KoÑcio»owi? òycz“ wszystkim parafianom, aby
ten nadchodzcy Nowy Rok by» dla Was wype»niony radoÑci i
b»ogos»awie½stwami Boóymi oraz personalnym zadowoleniem.
óyczenia z okazji Ðwit Boóego Narodzenia, podarunki i modlitw“.
JesteÑmy wdzi“czni za wyrazy pami“ci i obiecujemy modlitw“, aby
Nowy Rok przyniós» Wam »ask“ dobrego zdrowia i szcz“Ñcia.
