Stewardship Note: Today we celebrate Christ the King and are
reminded that all was created through Him and for Him. Does my
stewardship of the blessings entrusted to me give the evidence that
Christ is Lord of my life?
Word of Life. As advances in medicine and other factors lead to increased
longevity, it is important to recognize the presence of growing numbers of older
people as a blessing for society. Every generation can learn from the experience and
wisdom of the generation that preceded it. Indeed the provision of care for the
elderly should be considered not so much as an act of generosity as the repayment
of a debt of gratitude. – Pope Bnedict XVI, 9/18/10
OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST THE KING
November 21, 2010
I rejoiced because they said to me,
“We will go up to the house of the Lord.”
Promise of Paradise. As American
citizens we choose and elect leaders from
among ourselves to political office.
Authority is vested in the few by the
many, and yet no one has a permanent
hold on power. The reign of God is
entirely different. As our King, Christ has
rule over us. He became human so that
we could experience God’s reign: Jesus has the power to
forgive sinners, heal the sick, and even raise the dead, but
without the trappings of power. All are free to accept Jesus
Christ, or to turn away as Judas did. As Jesus hung on the cross,
onlookers jeered at this “king” with no power to “save himself.”
One of the criminals crucified with him wanted only quick
release from his agony; the other acknowledged the power of
Jesus’ innocence and his future rule. In response to this total
faith and trust, Jesus said “Today you will be with me in
paradise” Luke 23:43. No earthly ruler can promise so much.
The solemnity of Christ the King which closes the liturgical
year will be celebrated this weekend. It is a great opportunity
for all the faithful of St. Joseph Basilica to participate in the
Eucharistic adoration from 12 noon to 3 p.m. followed by a
devotional service. All of us feel the need to thank God for
many graces in the spirit of approaching Thanksgiving as well
as ask God to keep us in his loving care.
We request the organizations and parish ministries to come as
a group at the following times: Parish Council 12:30 pm - 1 pm;
Sacred Heart Society 1 pm - 1:30 pm; Holy Rosary Sodality
1:30 pm - 2 pm; St. Anne Society/St. Joseph Polish Women’s
Club 2:00 pm - 2:30 pm; Eucharistic Ministers 2:30 pm - 3 pm.
The second collection this weekend will be taken for the
Catholic Campaign for Human Development
A second collection, the third weekend of the month,
will not be taken next week
DONATIONS
We are profoundly grateful to an anonymous parishioner who
donated $3000 for the needs of the parish. We plan to use this
money toward the fire alarm system in the church specifically to
install the new sensors as required by the code which will cost
$7500. I want to commend the faith of this individual who besides
the weekly offering many times makes such a generous donation to
St. Joseph Basilica. May this noble charity in the spirit of
Thanksgiving be rewarded by God with many blessings in their
family and professional life. Serdeczne Bog Zaplac!

SHARING OUR BLESSINGS
Commitment Weekend!
All the faithful of St. Joseph Basilica family are asked this
weekend to make a commitment to Sharing our Blessings.
This increased offering is important to the ongoing work of
our parish ministries. Therefore, we ask you to give with a
sacrificial and joyful heart. Remember, our goal is to
increase our regular giving from an average of $4600 per
week to approximately $7500 per week.
Our increased blessings will be directed specifically
toward the reduction of the Diocesan Obligations. Once
again, I am very grateful to the additional parishioners who
submitted their commitment form this past weekend and the
majority of them pledged a significant increase.
“The measure of your own free will offering shall be in
proportion to the blessing the Lord, your God, has
bestowed on you...No one shall appear before the Lord
empty handed, but each of you with as much as he can give,
in proportion to the blessings which the Lord, your God has
bestowed on you.” Deuteronomy 16:10, 16-17.

KRONIKA PARAFIALNA
Uroczystoу Chrystusa Króla
"Uradowa»em si“, gdy mi powiedziano:
Pójdziemy do domu Pana."
Obietnica raju. Jako Obywatele kraju mamy prawo wybierania
naszych przywódców i przedstawicieli, którzy nas reprezentuj w óyciu
politycznym.
wi“cej: niewinn ofiar“ i przysz»ego w»adc“. I dlatego to do niego Jezus

poprosiƒ Go dalsz opiek“ i trosk“.
Zapraszamy organizacje i grupy parafialne do adoracji w nast“pujcym

ÐWI’TO DZI’KCZYNIENIA
