This was Jesus’ simple command to all of us at the end
of the Good Samaritan story. How do we do “likewise?”
By taking time to help when we are needed. By sharing
our skills. By reaching into our pockets when financial
help is needed. In short, by being a good steward.
Generator Needed!
Do you (or perhaps someone you
know) have a generator that you could
lend St. Mary’s Parish to use during the
parish carnival? Our biggest expense
last year was associated with renting of
generators. If you can assist with a generator or are an electrician and can help us out, please call Alice Krzak at 708218-7842.
We are planning to play Bingo at our Summer
Fest/Carnival on Saturday, August 25th and Sunday, August 26th. Workers will be needed to help
with the Bingo - we especially need persons that
are able to call the Bingo numbers (loudly and
clearly).
Supplies and food items must be purchased
before this event; before we order the necessary items we kindly ask:.
Can you help us with a monetary donation or can you supply any needed
items (paper plates, napkins, plastic-ware, plastic and foam cups, etc.).“

Dear Parishioners and friends,
The celebration of our parish feast day - Our Lady
of Czestochowa - will take place on Sunday, August
26, 2007. The icon of our Lady of Czestochowa will
be carried in in procession after the 12:30 P.M. Mass.
As part of our parish celebration we are once again
preparing to hold our parish SUMMER FEST on the grounds located at 34th and Laramie beginning on Thursday, August 23rd
through Sunday, August 26th.
It is most important and it will be much appreciated, if every parishioner, as well as friends of our parish, will make a sincere effort
to sell or purchase the entire raffle book for $100 at $10 per ticket.
We cannot express enough how much we need “extra funds” to
help with the upkeep of our parish. We really are counting on everyone’s cooperation to make our PARISH FEAST DAY RAFFLE and
the SUMMER FEST very successful! There are still 6 weeks left to
sell or purchase your raffle tickets. Many thanks to all of our parishioners that have already sold their raffle books!
If you would like to participate in the “EARLY BIRD DRAWING,”
next Sunday, July 29th you must return the sold raffle book with
your payment of $100 by this date. Don’t forget to return the cover
of the book with your name. All covers of sold raffle books will be
entered into the “Early Bird Drawing.” We will have three drawings
for $100 each. The drawings will take place after the 9:00am,
10:30am and 12:30pm Masses in the church. We are most grateful
to all of our parishioners and friends that have already returned their
sold raffle books. May God reward You!
The drawing for the cash prizes of $3,000, $1,000, $500 and other
$100 prizes will take place at 8pm at the SUMMER FEST on Sunday, August 26th.
Through the intercession of Our Lady of Czestochowa, may you
receive many blessings as you prepare to celebrate our Parish

Religious Education Information
Registration forms for the new school year in the
Fall of 2007 can be found at all four entrances in
the church. Parents that are interested in enrolling
their children in our parish Religious Education
Program are invited to take a form and follow the
instructions as necessary. Your cooperation is
most appreciated.
Neighborhood Watch Meeting
A Neighborhood Watch meeting will be held at the St. Mary of
Czestochowa Social Center, 5000 West 31st St. on Tuesday,
July 17th at 6:30pm. Concerns about the neighborhood can be
brought to and discussed at this meeting with town officials.
YARD SALE
St. Pius X Parish, 43rd and Oak Park Ave, Stickney, will hold a Yard
Sale on Saturday, August 25 from 9am to 1pm. Table and space are

The parable of the Good Samaritan
teaches us what it means to be a Christian. We are called to respond with merciful love to the needs of others. This includes all people, those whom we love
and those we find difficult to love. In the parable of the Good
Samaritan what seems like a nice little story is actually quite
a radical call to love one another. If we were to ask the Lord
Jesus this very day the same question the scholar of the law
asked - “And who is my neighbor?” - what do you suppose
the Lord’s answer would be? Ponder your answer to this
question and the implication of naming every single living and
breathing person on this planet as your neighbor.
Almighty God, change my heart so that I can love and care
for others just as you have loved and cared for me. Empower
me especially to reach out to those who are hurting and to
those who need to hear the good news of your salvation.
Reverence and Respect
Our beautiful church is a place of worship where we celebrate our faith and show our devotion to the Lord. This
requires that we express reverence to this place and respect
toward others. We can accomplish this in several ways—by
paying attention to the way we dress and behave in our
church.
We should refrain from wearing attire that is inappropriate
for church such as sundresses, flip-flops, and revealing beach-type clothing.
Loud conversation, chewing gum and allowing children to run freely and
unsupervised is not appropriate. Tending to crying children is important.
Leaving the church immediately before or after Holy Communion; before
the final blessing and closing hymn, (unless it is an emergency) is a sign of
disrespect.
By following simple common sense rules we show our reverence to God
and respect to one another.

en manos de unos bandidos, que lo desnudaron, lo molieron
a palos y se marcharon, dejándolo medio muerto. Por casualidad, un sacerdote bajaba por aquel camino y, al verlo,
dio un rodeo y pasó de largo. Y lo mismo hizo un levita que
llegó a aquel sitio: al verlo dio un rodeo y pasó de largo.
Pero un samaritano que iba de viaje, llegó a donde estaba él
y, al verlo, le dio lástima, se le acercó, le vendó las heridas,
echándoles aceite y vino, y, montándolo en su propia cabalgadura, lo llevó a una posada y lo cuidó. Al día siguiente,
sacó dos denarios y, dándoselos al posadero, le dijo: "Cuida
de él, y lo que gastes de más yo te lo pagaré a la vuelta."
¿Cuál de estos tres te parece que se portó como prójimo del
que cayó en manos de los bandidos?»

FIESTA LA VIRGEN
DEL CARMEN y el escapulario
El escapulario tiene 3 significados:
1) El amor y la protección maternal de María: El signo es una
tela o manto pequeño. Vemos
como María cuando nace Jesús
lo envuelve en un manto. La Madre siempre trata de cobijar a sus hijos.
Envolver en su manto es una señal muy maternal de protección y cuidado. Señal de que nos envuelve en su amor
maternal. Nos hace suyos. Nos cubre de la ignominia de
nuestra desnudes espiritual.
2)Pertenencia a María: Llevamos una marca que nos distingue como sus hijos escogidos. El escapulario se convierte en el símbolo de nuestra consagración a María.
Consagración: 'pertenecer a María' es reconocer su misión maternal sobre nosotros y entregarnos a ella para
dejarnos guiar, enseñar, moldear por Ella y en su corazón. Así podremos ser usados por Ella para la extensión
del Reino de su Hijo.
-En 1950 Papa Pío XII escribió acerca del escapulario:
"que sea tu signo de consagración al Inmaculado Corazón de María, lo cual estamos particularmente necesitando en estos tiempos tan peligrosos"
En las palabras del Papa vemos mas vez mas devoción a
la Virgen del Carmen es devoción a la Inmaculada.
Quien lleve el escapulario debe estar consciente de su
consagración a Dios y a la Virgen y ser consecuente en
sus pensamientos, palabras y obras.
3)El suave yugo de Cristo: "Carguen sobre ustedes mi
yugo y aprendan de mi, porque soy paciente y humilde de
corazón, y así encontrarán alivio. Porque mi yugo es suave y mi carga liviana". (Mt 11:29-30)
-El escapulario simboliza ese yugo que Jesús nos invita a
cargar pero que María nos ayuda a llevar.

Ewangelia według św. Łukasza 10,25-37
Powstał jakiś uczony w Prawie i wystawiając Jezusa
na próbę, zapytał: Nauczycielu, co mam czynić, aby
osiągnąć życie wieczne? Jezus mu odpowiedział: Co
jest napisane w Prawie? Jak czytasz? On rzekł: Będziesz miłował Pana, Boga swego, całym swoim sercem, całą swoją duszą, całą swoją mocą i całym swoim umysłem; a swego bliźniego jak siebie samego.
Jezus rzekł do niego: Dobrześ odpowiedział. To
czyń, a będziesz żył. Lecz on, chcąc się usprawiedliwić, zapytał Jezusa: A kto jest moim bliźnim? Jezus
nawiązując do tego, rzekł: Pewien człowiek schodził
z Jerozolimy do Jerycha i wpadł w ręce zbójców. Ci
nie tylko że go obdarli, lecz jeszcze rany mu zadali i
zostawiwszy na pół umarłego, odeszli. Przypadkiem
przechodził tą drogą pewien kapłan; zobaczył go i
minął. Tak samo lewita, gdy przyszedł na to miejsce
i zobaczył go, minął. Pewien zaś Samarytanin, będąc
w podróży, przechodził również obok niego. Gdy go
zobaczył, wzruszył się głęboko: podszedł do niego i
opatrzył mu rany, zalewając je oliwą i winem; potem
wsadził go na swoje bydlę, zawiózł do gospody i pielęgnował go. Następnego zaś dnia wyjął dwa denary,
dał gospodarzowi i rzekł: Miej o nim staranie, a jeśli
co więcej wydasz, ja oddam tobie, gdy będę wracał.
Któryż z tych trzech okazał się, według twego zdania, bliźnim tego, który wpadł w ręce zbójców? On
odpowiedział: Ten, który mu okazał miłosierdzie.
Jezus mu rzekł: Idź, i ty czyń podobnie!
KARNAWAŁ PARAFIALNY
Po raz drugi chcemy zorganizować karnawał parafialny. W
związku z tym zwracamy się z gorącą prośbą do wszystkich
parafian o pomoc. Aby karnawał mógł się odbyć potrzebne
jest zaangażowanie wielu osób. Chętnych prosimy o wypełnienie poniższej formy i wrzucenie jej na niedzielną kolektę
lub skontaktowanie się z biurem parafialnym.

Urodził się około
1437 roku w Lipnicy.
Studiował na Akademii
Krakowskiej, po czym
pod wpływem kazań św.
Jana Kapistrana wstąpił
do bernardynów. Pełnił
wiele funkcji w zakonie, m. in. był
gwardianem w Tarnowie, kaznodzieją
w Stradomiu i Krakowie, magistrem
nowicjatu. Podróżował do Akwilei, Pawii, Rzymu oraz do Ziemi Świętej. W
zakonie odznaczał się surowością życia, nabożeństwem do Najświętszego
Sakramentu
i
Matki
Bożej.
Umarł posługując chorym, podczas zarazy w Krakowie 18 lipca 1482
roku. Beatyfikacji w roku 1685 dokonał Innocenty IX. Relikwie bł, Szymona spoczywają w kościele bernardynów w Krakowie.
W IKONOGRAFII bł. Szymon przedstawiany jest jako głoszący kazanie.

naszej parafii prosimy o zabranie koperty, w której się znajdują losy wraz z listem. Koperty te
zostały wystawione w tyle kościoła i są ułożone
alfabetycznie (według nazwisk). Zabranie tych
kopert pozwoli na zaoszczędzeniu kosztów całej
