PAST SIMPLE VS. PAST CONTINUOUS
Past simple jest czasem przeszłym dokonanym. Określa czynności, które wydarzyły się w
przeszłości.
W zdaniu twierdzącym do czasowników regularnych dodajemy końcówkę –ed. Natomiast formy
czasowników nieregularnych należy przyswoić z drugiej części tabelki czasowników
nieregularnych, np.:
1. She watched her favourite crime story again two days ago.
2. They left the house three hours ago.
W zdaniu pytającym operatorem jest did a czasownik ma formę bezokolicznika, np.:

DALSZA CZĘŚĆ ZDANIA
two days ago?
her favourite crime story two days ago?
the house?
the house three hours ago?
W zdaniu przeczącym “not” dodajemy zawsze do operatora: tu jest to did + not = didn't, a
czasownik ma formę bezokolicznika, np.:
1. She didn’t watch her favourite crime story again two days ago.
2. They didn’t leave the house three hours ago.
______________________________________________________________________________
Past continuous jest czasem przeszłym niedokonanym, co oznacza, że czynność przez niego
opisywana działa się w przeszłości lecz nie wiadomo czy się zakończyła czy nie.
W zdaniu twierdzącym, pytającym i przeczącym operatorem jest was/were, a do czasownika
dodajemy końcówkę –ing, pamiętając, że w przeczeniu do operatora dodajemy „not”
wasn’t/weren’t , a w pytaniu stosujemy szyk przestawny, np.:
My mum and I were walking in the park at his time yesterday.
Were we walking in the park at his time yesterday?
My mum and I weren’t walking in the park at his time yesterday.
