Commissioned to Live in the World.
In today’s scriptures we hear two
different stories about commissioning.
In the Acts of the Apostles Peter leads
the assembly in prayer that the Lord
will choose and commission the person
to replace Judas among the Twelve. In
the Gospel Jesus prays that his chosen
disciples might be consecrated, or made holy.
Jesus does not ask his Father to keep the disciples
separate from the world, but instead sends them out into the
world. While we might think that holy people are set apart
from the world, we cannot hear today’s scriptures without
realizing that God’s holy, chosen people are commissioned
to live in the midst of the world where they can reveal the
love of God that makes the entire world holy.
1-25 Club Winner for the 8th Week - #3 Corie R. Wagner
SACRIFICIAL OFFERINGS - May 17, 2009
Weekly $4468 (incl. $327 in loose money); Diocesan
Obligations $142; Fuel $316.
Stewardship Note: “This Jesus who has been taken up from you
into heaven will return in the same way as you have seen him going
into heaven.” (Acts 1:11) How strong is your faith? Do you believe
that Jesus will return? In the Gospel Jesus tells us that He will
return and when He does He will separate us into sheep and goats,
depending on how much we used our blessings to help those in
need. So how strong is your faith? The answer can be found in how
much you give.
The Ship of the Church. The Church is like a great ship being
pounded by the waves of life’s different stresses. Our duty is not to
abandon ship, but to keep her on her course. – St. Boniface

Next weekend the second collection is designated for the

May 25, 2009
Memorial Day is a United States federal
holiday observed on the last Monday of
May. It commemorates U.S. men and
women who died while in the military
service. Many people observe this holiday
by visiting cemeteries and memorials. The
gravestones at Arlington National
Cemetery are graced by U.S. flags on
Memorial Day. A national moment of remembrance takes place at
3 p.m. ET.
According to custom, memorial services will be held at St. Joseph
Garden of Peace on Monday, May 25th. We invite all parishioners
and friends to gather around the cross at the cemetery by 9:45
a.m. The Veterans are expected to arrive at 9:55 a.m.
MAY DEVOTIONS
This Sunday following the 11 a.m. Mass, the litany to the Blessed
Mother will be prayed. On Monday the devotions will be held at 7
p.m. in English, and on Friday at 7 p.m. in Polish. Please take time
out of your busy schedule and devote one hour to the Blessed
Mother entreating her for needed graces.
REFLECTIONS ON FORTY HOUR EUCHARISTIC DAYS
I want to thank all those who attended the Forty Hour devotions
in our parish. More people participated this year than in previous
years. Each evening celebration offered a different opportunity to
reflect on the meaning of the Eucharist in the life of the individual
and the parish. I owe a special gratitude to those who decorated the
church, the organist, choirs, parish organizations, First Communion
children, Children of Mary and altar servers.

May 24, 2009 - 24 maj 2009 r.
There was a large number of priests who attended the devotions
and they truly experienced the hospitality of the parish and made
favorable comments about the liturgical celebrations. I am grateful
to those faithful parishioners and school children who kept the vigil
during the three days of these special days.

KRONIKA PARAFIALNA
SIÓDMA NIEDZIELA WIELKANOCNA
Dzisiaj już siódma, ostatnia, niedziela wielkanocna. W
przyszłą niedzielę będziemy przeżywać Uroczystość
Zesłania Ducha Świętego. Ewangelia dzisiejszej niedzieli
to fragment tzw. Modlitwy Arcykapłańskiej Jezusa. Jezus
ostatecznie On zwycięży.
