SACRIFICIAL OFFERINGS - May 30, 2010
Weekly $4093 (incl. $225 in loose money); Diocesan Obligations
$102; Fuel $162. We are way under budget for the week!
Stewardship Note: In today’s Gospel, the disciples suggest that
Jesus disperse the crowd so that they might individually seek food
and lodging. The miracle of the feeding of the five thousand is
Jesus’ powerful reminder that when we share our gifts in His name
there is always more than enough!
Word of Life. Wherever respect for life and human dignity are lacking, there
is need of God’s merciful love, in whose light we see the inexpressible value of
every human being. Mercy is needed in order to ensure that every injustice in the
world will come to an end in the splendour of truth. – Pope John Paul II, 8/17/02
THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST
June 6, 2010
As often as you eat this bread and
drink the cup, you proclaim the death
of the Lord until He comes.
– I Corinthians 11:26
Today we celebrate the solemnity of
the Body and Blood of Christ with a
Mass at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart of
Jesus Parish followed by the
procession in honor of the Blessed Sacrament to four altars.
We expect every parishioner to participate in this public
expression of our devotion to the Eucharistic Jesus.
Broken and Poured Out. At every Mass we remember
Jesus’ last Passover meal with his friends. We see only the
bread and wine, but it is the Lord himself, broken and
poured out for us, whom we receive. This amazing love is
the opposite of greed (“I’m going to grab it all for myself”)
and its relative, stinginess (“I’ll give only what I have to,
and no more”). Both arise from a fear that we may lose
what we own or not have enough. Prophets, saints, and
Jesus himself say fear comes from lack of trust in God.
Survivors of natural disasters know that possessions can
disappear in a heartbeat. Such people show resilience,
courage, and a will to rebuild their lives. We, who are loved
by God the Father, fed by God the Son, and strengthened by
God the Holy Spirit, have all we need. If we open our hearts
to these gifts and truly believe, our lives are transformed.
PLEASE NOTE: The customary first Sunday of the
month Divine Mercy devotion will not be held this
afternoon.
The second collection this weekend is for
Diocesan Obligations
Next weekend, the second collection is designated for the Utility
and Energy Costs

JUNE BIRTHDAYS
Happy birthday wishes to the following parishioners who are
enjoying their “gay nineties” : Bernard Cournoyer, Anna Kusek,
Jude Landry, Antoinette Sroczynski, and Lottie Zisk.
Birthday Blessings
Instead of counting candles, or tallying the years,
Contemplate your blessings now, as your birthday nears.
Consider special people who love you, and who care,
And others who’ve enriched your life just by being there.
Another year is a happy gift, so cut your cake, and say,
“Instead of counting birthdays, I count blessings every day!”

ST. JOSEPH BASILICA FESTIVAL XXXVII
In less than two weeks the parish will host the 37th Polish Festival.
A well-prepared and organized festival reflects the spirit of the
parish. St. Joseph Basilica parish is not a community of indifferent
individuals but a family of particular synthesis of experience,
values, tradition, thought–in one word–culture. For years St. Joseph
Basilica displayed a remarkable hospitality, unity and cooperation
in organizing the festivals. It is my belief that again this year we
will come together in the same spirit in our common effort.
Make plans now for the weekend of June 18-19, 2010! The
parish festival will be in full swing on Friday, June 18 from 4 to 11
p.m. and on Saturday, June 19 from 12 noon to 11:30 p.m. Details
are in the festival brochures located at the entrances to the church.
Please take a few and distribute to your family and friends.

earliest convenience – don’t wait for the festival nites! If you need
more books, please come to the rectory!

rectory.

needed to setup the booths, stage, lights etc. beginning Saturday,
Page 4
June 12th and each week night thereafter. Our parish men are
asked to pull together and take the lead in the set-up.
Booth Help is Needed. All the festival booths need workers on
Friday and Saturday. Pleased sign up on the forms left in church
and return to festival co-chairman Eileen Fanning 508-949-6084.
KRONIKA PARAFIALNA
chwale...” Dzisiaj nie b“dzie w bazylice Mszy Ñw. o 11-ej. W
zamian spotkamy si“ wszyscy na obchodach Boóego Cia»a w
koÑciele Sacred Heart o 11-ej, aby wspólnie z naszymi
wspó»braƒmi wyraziƒ wiar“ w Jezusa Eucharystycznego biorc
udzia» w tradycyjnej procesji do czterech o»tarzy. W kaódej Mszy
Ñw. wspominamy ostatni wieczerz“ Jezusa z aposto»ami. Widzimy
Prorocy, Ñwi“ci i sam Jezus mówi, óe takie obawy s dowodem
braku zaufania Bogu.
Ci ludzie jednak
pokazuj odwag“, upartoу i si»“, aby odbudowaƒ swoje óycie. My,
którzy jesteÑmy kochanymi dzieƒmi Boga, którzy jesteÑmy
karmieni Cia»em Syna Boóego i nape»nieni moc Ducha Ñwi“tego,
mamy wszystko, czego nam w óyciu potrzeba. Jak otworzymy
nasze serca na te dary i prawdziwie uwierzymy, nasze óycie
zostanie przemienione.
STEWARDSHIP. W dzisiejszym czytaniu aposto»owie sugeruj
schronienie. Cud rozmnoóenia chleba przypomina nam w bardzo
wyraïny sposób, óe kiedy dzielimy si“ naszymi dobrami w imi“
Chrystusa, zawsze na wszystko nam wystarczy.
CZERWIEC. Jest to miesic poÑwi“cony NajÑwi“tszemu Sercu
Jezusa. Zach“camy do codzinnego odmawiania litanii od
NajÑwi“tszego Serca Jezusa, a szczególnie w pitki.
DRUGA KOLEKTA. W ten weekend druga kolekta przeznaczona

FESTYN PARAFIALNY. Za nieca»e dwa tygodnie b“dzie juó 37

zabierzemy si“ do pracy, aby osignƒ kolejny sukces!
Festyn b“dzie w pitek od 4 p.m. do 11 p.m., a w sobot“ od 12-ej
